It's interesting how few surfers have followed the lead Lenny has set in doing airs and heavy carves on big waves. My impression is that he is literally years ahead of most of the competition, and that his familiarity with windsurfing, foiling, etc. has given him a massive advantage over guys who only surf conventional surfboards.

Right, most surfers are content (rightfully so) with staying on there feet on the big wave. Kai is doing 360s, cutbacks and shredding the monster.
