Inside step - body lock - step around to the back is my favorite. Just like you do at 5:07 . When I go straight to the outside step I some time get in that situation when we both start spinning trying to get each others back. Inside step blocks them from doing so. As always, thanks for the outstanding content!

.I like sume gaeshi and I do a back roll to land in mount. It works on much bigger opponents.

I’ve only ever used the outside step armdrag in an effort to take the back. But I’ll be using the others tonight and try the different leg attacks as well. Thanks, Coach!

usually the outside step one to a snatch single/back take because I really like the dominant angle I get on my opponent but sometimes I like to switch it up to a bodylock inside trip

Amongst arm drags preferably I wish to use the outside arm drag.

The one you rarely use is the highest percentage scoring at the World and Olympic level. Except that you need to catch the far floating rib (into a body lock) and don’t turn your hips until you have it locked. Watch my former coach, former head coach of the world team Andy Seras. The reason is that in the “inside” one you’re showing, you’re essentially giving the person the exact same move. All he needs to do is grab your tricep with arm you just dragged and he has the same move. I can’t tell you how many guys I’ve dragged from their own drag. It’s not that the first two don’t work, they just don’t have the highest percentage of gaining control over high level wrestlers.

Well inside trip of jt torres ( bjj guy ) did work on pj barch a D1 wrestler same as would on others so not sure that it doesn’t work in high level maybe just not D1 all American olympic
@josephbreza-grappling9459
@josephbreza-grappling9459 2 ай бұрын
@@youngbuddha7778 It’s not that it can’t ever work, it’s that it rarely does and can put you in a bad position when you attempt it. So people in wrestling have gotten away from it. The title of the video is “which armdrag is the best,” not “which armdrag works sometimes on good wrestlers,” so I responded to address that question. Barch is one of the better wrestlers in BJJ, but he basically wrestled for like one semester in college. So sure, he was D1. When have you seen this work in college or at the senior level? I have been wrestling and coaching wrestling since 1991 and I can’t remember ever seeing this past low level highschool wrestling. As a coach, I think it is important to teach what works often so that you increase the chances of your athletes having success. Oddly, I get pushback from people with little to no experience in wrestling, but not from the wrestling crowd. It is mostly the BJJ crowd and they try to tell me how BJJ works. I am a purple belt and I still have a lot to learn in BJJ still, but when it comes to getting the contest to the ground, I have not had any issues in that department and those I train learn how to do the same

We did arm drag tonight in wrestling and used a same side grip. I like the one where your pesky opponent had a death grip and I simply shoot my arm across my body (their arm in tow) and hit the drag there. We did hip tosses from several different moves and the arm drag was one. Thanks Coach! Great stuff.

You could maybe use the merkle then adjust grip to arm drag to enter the position aight the inside step and hit the sumi gaeshi or uchimata

usually hit the inside drag but I hit my butt and bounce up and get the corner! I tech falled the 2x KY state champion and 3 TDs were off a re-drag...I like hitting when a guy reaches to get wrist control.. they never suspect it because if they are expecting for a wrist being there 2 grab they are 3 steps behind.. and Its key to clear your wrist if they do do get wrist control.. great video homie..Im.a pro mma fighter with over 40 fights and love your content...

I typically show a right step (right foot lead) to prevent my opponent from circling away. I use this foot work to help achieve a Greco body lock or incorporate a level change to double. Once again, I’m sharing this video with our students. Thanks as always

I've tapped out a bjj student during training with the arm drag. It can be a very sneaky technique. But one problem I'm having is when everyone is sweaty, and I can't get a good grip on the arm.
