There is nothing wrong with an assassin having shield, two knock up, magic damage, dashes an unstoppable recall(E recast) and also having 100% crit with two items (but hey he got 10% less damage from crit, so at full build he will do maybe 45 less damage per autos, call that the silken road to asia, because this is a good trade.)

The "good" is basically actually rly good design while "fair" translates to good but needs some improvements. AND IF YOU TELL ME YONE IS GOOD CHAMPION DESIGN IMMA LOSE MY MIND cuz its objectively not. They literally just gave him random, not needed benefits on several of his skills (such as a huge shield, movement speed and percent heath dmg, magic dmg and so on)

Problem is that you rely mostly on your sup and jgler vs her You can only buy one pink as a laner and have 1 other ward every few minutes So you cant cover enough spots The normal ward is useless vs her aside putting it in her jgl ( which you can only do in a winning machtup ) So in theory some games your litteral only personal counterplay is one fcking pinkward and begging your sub and jgl are not filled And that feels not very fair to me

Rek'sai is a diver, and rek'sai now builds a mix of lethality and bruiser with prowlers and steraks

Assassins are overrated, when you have a 3 item kennen who one shots your whole team in the river and you can’t kill him cause mages have a core item called “zhonya’s hourglass”

@@yuhan4469 most ad carries and assassins have access to hourglass too in their build, I’d say GA is actually better though because there’s no shot of being CC’d out it and it gives a fat heal. Hourglass can be, and is, completely useless in the majority of fights on the majority of champs, ga is almost never bad.

I think LeBlanc's more of a Burst mage than an assassin, and the main weakness of a burst mage such as Veigar or Syndra should be mobility. She shares the same problem as Yuumi: lacking the very one weakness that her class should have.

But LeBlanc doesn't have the range that Veigar or Syndra has. They zone out certain areas, while LeBlanc tries to pick people overwalls or when they face check bushes. She also is a lot more supportive, as she stuggles to get kills unless she is super fed. Because for one, LeBlancs is strong early game, Syndra and Veigar struggle early game. LeBlanc sucks late game, or when not ahead, while Syndra and Veigar are strong late game and can just farm if they aren't ahead. As they're wave clear and scaling is far more superior, Since LeBlanc is probably one of the worse csers in the game. Meanwhile Syndra can QE an entire wave, and Veigar can take out waves in a matter of econds, not only generating more gold but AP It's really not the same playstyle at all, more so, LeBlanc is only a burst mage in the sense that all of her dmg is frontloaded, and really fast. But she has nothing to follow up on it or after. And the fact her auto attacks are ranged. Because she really needs to get up close or at least stick onto someone in order to do any meaningful dmg. If she's ever going to not use her W for dmg it's more of a supportive thing to cc someone for someone else to get the kill. But in teamfights, that's completely useless. Because taking 1.5 seconds, to stick on a target in a ring in a teamfight, will surely get you killed. But as Syndra or Veigar, you don't need to put yourself out like that, or need to buy yourself 1.5 seconds of time showing everyone "Hey I'm over here". You simply need to cast the ability on them and they are stunned. This is also extremely important when you are considering someone who is extremely fed. Say someone like, a fed Drave with shieldbow. taking 1.5 seconds while being so close to Dravens face is not ideal, he can easily kil you before then.

@@TheRuancarlo No she is not. She is basically a skirmishing mobile version of Syndra. Both burst you down the moment you are at a certain thresh hold of hp and till then they try to poke you down with their autos and Q and threatens with their combos and stun/root potential. Both have one of the best gank setups in midlane. And ofc the mobile single target cc champion thrives in skirmishes while the immobile aoe dmg and cc champion thrives in teamfights. There are also quite a few pro players who can only play mages and LeBlanc and sucks at assassins/fighters and vice versa to prove the point even further. You can also see LeBlanc playing poke oriented in a pro setting a lot she jus pokes in her own unique way. She is hybrid of burst mage and assassin but in the lane she plays more like a mage. Also Syndra absolutely does not struggle in the early game. She has one of the most dominant laning phases. Just because she can't vommit on her keyboard and one shot someone from 100% hp like some assassins doesn't mean she is weak early game as if you lane with Syndra properly you don't need that to be dominant because she has long range low cd decent dmg, hard cc for great set up and diisengage.

Stun is not a counterplay. Everybody dies off of a crowd control. He needs something that makes him.vulnerable besides the obvious. However, I disagree his ult is broken. Yes it does dmg, but u have to be really braindead to receive ekkos ult dmg because it is always far. It is mostly something thst does him good because thst is what he is. Mess up? Rewind and fix it

Also, while some champs are extra vulnerable to CC, cc quite literally counters all champs since it stops them from doing what they wanna be doing. If a champs only counter is hard cc, its most likely not gonna feel fun to play against said champ

The thing about Yone is that he has no drawbacks given the number of tools he has. He doesn't make any compromises in any area, yet has more mechanics than he needs to do the job. And LeBlanc, she would be much more bearable if her chains didn't have a fricking 865 tether radius. You can legit WW as Zed and still be in range to get rooted, such a stupid ability.

as a kayn main, i felt like the only buff he needed was to increase his orb gain once they did that, he was fine, but they kept on buffing him and then they changed the items and now he's broken how to balance him? revert the orb buff or revert everything else kayn gets form WAYYY too quickly, even for my liking, and especially with SA, its way too easy to snowball i loved it when you actually felt good for finishing form at a decent time (which was like 12-15 mins) because that's when you could do stuff and catch back up. now you just get form at 8 mins and roll everyone down

You're probably right. After all, it didn't make sense that unless you're ultra fed, getting Shadow Assassin meant having not that much time to take advantage of your power spike that falls off super quick. Now with the new items, until the enemy carries get GA and full build, Shadow Assassin is very good at most stages of the match. That being said, I think Rhaast is a bit underrated, especially if your team already has a champion that fills the assassin niche of reaching the carries to pick them off, especially against 2 tanks. Oh how the tables have turned. Now Shadow Assassin is the preferred one.

If someone wanted Yone discussion let me do this for our boi Vars Yone is extremely overloaded Skirmisher/Assassin his snowball potential is unreal (Almost like Aatrox dat why when Aatrox is bad everyone says he is OP or he is good cuz his snowball is unreal ) He is Good early game,OP mid game and Unbeatable Late (unless you have Leona or some good cc caster like Morgana and you need to be extremely patient cuz his E is basically cleanse) What makes him so broken and not fun to play against: 1) His presence makes you feel disgusting cuz you know you gonna play some mind games with this dude 2)Yone have extreme mobility towards enemy champion (thank god he cant dash like Yasuo) his E gives him MS and pushes his real body a little bit,his R is big dash dmg skill and his Q is dash 3)His passive gives him 2x crit from items and AD/AP dmg from every second AA (Note:AP dmg > AD dmg) which means his reduced dmg doesn't work at all and you cant build def items against him properly 4)His E is overloaded cuz this skill gives you MS,True dmg,Mini dash and enemy cant fight back cuz more dmg he deals,more dead you are (this is basically Zed ult on steroids) 5)His W gives you Shield and %hp AP/AD dmg, CD and cast speed scales with AS 6)His R Gives him Dash,Knock-up,Grounding,Airborne,Pull,СС immune and AD/AP dmg But despite having all of this if Riot gonna remove shield from cringebow he is gonna be literally balanced but he is never gonna be fun to play against How to make him fun (for Riot games): Remove Grounding from R and reduce ult radius Remove MS from E and give his E time scale with AS Bring back Yone's old crits before 2 items spike buff And every Yone main who defend this champ in comments and gonna say dat im trash (Im Grandmaster dont try to defend your degenerate champ) (Sry for bad eng cuz im from all hail Soviet Russia !!!)

I think one big thing could do is buff the E, then make it the ult. Then E will be a dash that looks and works similar to the current ult except it only stuns briefly, does less damage and is smaller. then either remove his max hp damage and true damage or dont let his abilities scale off of attack speed.

Love the idea of doing all classes like this. Also some people might disagree but I like it when tier list are also put into order of worst to best even in specific tiers. Mostly so I can see who is in your opinion the absolute best and worst. Also I think it would be a good idea to cover a few Champs twice like LeBlanc in mages and assasins.

But high elo Kha'zix players have been taking advantages of this defensive maneuver by building Goredrinker... I wonder what Vars thinks about that, whether the item or the champion needs to be fixed. Probably both but who knows

Khazix has as basic of a design as talon. Just as one-dimensional with really linear abilities, and he either abuses his stupid stats to exploit the worst of solo ranked or does nothing because the enemy team knows how to play against an assassin. He also has such a perfect kit that he entirely nullified other assassins with better defined weaknesses and strenghts like rengar. Every weakness khazix has apoly for most other assassins, he's only "well design" when you compare him with stupid stuff like Kata.

In your Leblanc section you said ”if you play a short range champion, without cc or dashes you cant touch leblanc”. That literally applies only to Olaf, Mundo, Nasus and maybe Illaoi? Which are usually tanky thus a natural counter to assassins. The real problem is just playing squishy champs that have slow reacting kits like most ADCs and lots of mages

By Design I'd say either Zed or Kha'zix. Zed is Peak Assassin, he got ways to get in, screw any particular individual over, and get out. Sometimes he's not even there and is still killing. And Kha'zix just evokes fear on the poor unfortunate souls that locked adc in that particular game, with long range jump, a wide and big slow, up to 3 stealths and movespeed boost, he's probably getting rid of at least the priority target.

I agree, but I still agree with Vars that Zed is a bit too safe. Its incredible bs that a melee asassin can just farm from range with a ranged ability on a short cd with no mana cost. Other than that, I prefer him over Yone who can Assassinate people, put out enough mixed sustained dmg to burst you (???), has multiple AOE CCs (Assassin btw) all while being 0/10 because getting 40% crit (1600g goldvalue) from 2 items for free is not unfair at all. Also doesnt need ult for 90% of his solo kills and can disengage any fight because e cleanses cc.

The problem with idea of Ekko's ult having a tradeoff is that such a short cooldown WITHOUT ability haste nullifies that very notion almost completely. He's basically got a GUARANTEED revive on a two minute cd, that goes to a minute and a half, and fifty seconds at levels 11 and 16 respectively, again, without ability haste. There's no way to stop him from doing it, so it's better than a Zilean revive. It does a lot of damage around the landing point, so it's a pretty powerful ability. The thing that makes it broken isn't the life save, or the damage, but the fact that he has it available to him so frequently, on top of having no way to really stop him from doing it, giving such a small and unexploitable window for punishment if he uses it, be it successfully or not. Also, leave my Nocy boy out of this, he ain't even an assassin anymore, he's more of a Fiora or Tryndamere. He's like a diver/skirmisher, and I really hope they don't make him more of an assassin because duelist Nocturne is too much fun.

I'll never understand the mentality of "hard cc and dying" being perfectly acceptable as a champions only counter play. Do people who think this way just not realize that team comps with little to no hard cc or burst damage exist? Or how about the fact that these "assassin" champions aren't all that squishy in general anymore, especially Ekko who has NEVER been a squishy champion? Eve is one of my favoueite assassins because she feels so different. She has next to no stick outside her empowered E and her only mobility is a finisher that attacks in one direction then sends her the opposite way. Great for ending a fight but not for engaging or chasing. Ya she has charm but if you don't burst the enemy before it ends you can't really get much out of it again because of the long cooldown. All that's to say that she relies a lot more on position and especially flanking compared to other more mobile assassins and I find that to be a lot of fun.

Making my second comment, now after watching the video. Ekko: I'd rate him somewhere in between fair and passable. His base kit is fine but there are a few elements about his kit I believe to be overkill. I will start by the most simple one, his W' passive. It is a recurring theme with Riot's recent designs to make champions too well rounded. If there's an ability that may not be practical in some scenarios, it is given some compensation to make sure it is never a dead ability. Another example of this being Viego's E, where the only reason it gives attack speed is so that it is not a dead ability during jungle clears. I disagree with that phylosophy overall and I think that the "this time this is not an option" is part of the game and having an answer to everything isn't a good thing. If I'm Ekko's opponent and I don't get hit by his W, I am not ahead of him by a full ability because it still has that hidden execute damage on its passive. My second rant with Ekko is his passive movement speed. Ekko is already plenty mobile without it, and not only that movement speed is overkill, it is also some of the strongest and most long lasting movement speed steroids in the game. The biggest counterplay to mobile champions is to punish their cooldowns, but even when Ekko don't have his abilities, he is still zooming. Last but not least, the initial jump from his E. Removing it isn't even a plain nerf. It removes the short delay he needs to acess the damage and perhaps can even be an auto attack reset. The initial dash just too versatile for being just a fraction of his mobility. Kha'zix: Not much to add here. I don't think he is great, but he is overall solid. Rengar: His W drags him down a notch. Every part of Rengar's kit gets the job done and he is really weak without ult or bushes around, I just believe his W to be too good of an ability that one: makes bruiser Rengar better than assassin Rengar and two: even when you are playing assassin Rengar, it makes it really difficult to exploit his squishyness. Talon: I talked about him before. Love the parkour. Very cool and rewarding ability. But otherwise? He is just too generic. Fair is where I'd put him. Diana: Fair to good as a mid laner, passable to ass as a jungler. As a jungler she is just a boring power farmer. Evelynn: Ass, but not hopeless. Boring power farming champion. Remove the health regen from her passive, give her stealth from level 1. Instantly she becomes fair and potentially good with some more tweaks. Wasted potention when you need to wait all the way to level 6 to use the biggest attractive of the champion. Fizz: Passable. His E is such a good ability the rest of his kit must be weaker to compensate. His E is broken and the rest of his kit is boring. He is not ass but his power budget is too messy. Nocturne: Read Diana. Same applies. Zed: After your conclusion, I agree. Zed is a little too safe. I don't think that alone justify deranking him from good, but its still a valid point. Akali: I still believe there's too much stuff crammed into her kit. Because her passive has a mini-game attached to it, she's given movement speed to help her get around it. I'd say remove the mini-game entirely. Let her have her passive auto right away, just so she don't have permanent 500 movement speed. That might be enough to give her the jump from ass to fair. Kassadin: That's the most ass out of the ass. His win condition is to bore the opponent by making the game as little interactive as possible, then becoming an unbeatable abomination. Pyke: Solid concept, but messy execution. Lethality scalings, spells don't work on minions, can't build HP, all for the sake of Riot enforcing their fantazy to the player. Wasted potential, passable is where he goes. Qiyana: I make your words mine. Qiyana is an assassin that excels on the one thing her class is supposed to be at its worst. Not ass, but no more than passable. Shaco: Nothing has changed between what I said before and now. The assassin part is Shaco's most boring one. He stealths in and point n'click people to death. What's interesting about him that made me fall in love with the champion is his top tier early game (which unfortunately no longer exists) and how much potential his clon and boxes have. I really dislike the route Riot has taken with Shaco recently, not only making his boxes AoE, but also giving bonus damage against monsters. Suddenly the pressure to win the game early no longer exists as he can fall back to power farming if he feels like it. That may sound like a good thing, but it gives me no hope that Riot will give Shaco the strong early game he once had. Shaco scaling just feels wrong. Katarina: I am no Katarina fan but I don't think she is ass. One thing I dislike about her and some other champions such as Riven is that most of her kit is instant, meaning if that if two players have the same reaction time and one is Katarina, its the Katarina who gets the first move, so all those close calls its down to a champion diff. I also really don't like how easy it is for her to get Shunpo resets, but that's all. She is very passable. Kayn: I agree on the ass rate, but for a different reason: boring power farm champion. For a champion that has to start the game as a minion, I don't mind him getting stronger than the average champion by the time he transforms, but if the guy has conqueror, he isn't quite the minion he is supposed to be early game. But that's a conqueror problem, not Kayn's. There's so much sustain in the jungle you get more HP back while clearing than you take damage from camps. As such, poke and short trades aren't a thing in the jungle, furthermore, nobody gets low enough while clearing to die before stacking conqueror. At level 3 the rune is a vamp scepter worth of stats so its too convenient for those scaling junglers to just take conqueror and whenever they get invaded, it is like they start the game with 3 kills. But that's more of a conqueror problem than Kayn's specifically. Riot has made the jungle far too difficult for those scaling fellas to be punished. LeBlanc: We disagree so much on this champion I don't think we can go anywhere, the reasons I think she is good were on my first comment and they haven't changed now. Yone: He is an assassin, he is an skirmisher and has not one, but two AoE hard CC, a thing most champions from both of these classes have none. I guess its easy to tell where this fella go.

I have few things to say to your reasoning. First of all, lemme ask why is it bad for Rengar to not be completely squishy? He has no escape, no invis either and in lategame he might get oneshoted anyway and in early it gives him edge as early game champ with no escape, without unbearable amount of damage. Also for burst he gotta sacrifice it at times. I understand it might not be ideal for an assassin to have innate tankiness but I dont see it to be some sort of problem either, given the circumstances. Idk what makes Evenlynn problematic for you but it seems to be entirelly different from the rest. They dont want her to have invis and you give her invis from level 1. Also she has HP regen because she is fairly weak in earlygame, specifically for all ins and when it comes to jg sustain. With your changes she would be hated even more. For me Eve is completely acceptable by design because she is just opportunist in the end. Not much she can actually force even with great amount of skill. When it comes to Kayn, you both seem to just complain about the balance. Its balance and not design. You can just change numbers and the design gonna remain. About LB... I think Vars nailed this one. Being completely uninteractive is the sh;ttiest thing that can happen in design. If there was ASS^2 tier, she would go there for me. I think that Akali's passive is what makes that champ such cool design. I also dont think that removing it gonna change anything. If you want to change something, delete her W ms boost. I agree with the rest you said ( except nocturne, nothing specific, just bunch of minor details ).

I’m a kayn main and I honestly believe shadow assassin is fine in the context of what his design was (key word was). Weak early game aside from a good clear and good damage (if it actually lands when it’s really easy to dodge) then reaping the benefits later by fighting for your form. The problem though is that the “downside” of having to actually wait and really fight for your form is kinda gone with the orb buffs. If it just took a few minutes longer to actually get blue form I think he’d be significantly better balanced. Also with the way items are for assassins this season i think a lot of their issues are pretty exaggerated including goredrinker on kayn which isn’t his only build but it’s still very strong atm.

Largely agree with this, Idk the solution but I think items is 100% what’s breaking kayn or making forms unplayable. Not too long ago Rhaast was near unplayable due to all his items being nerfed. Blue I feel is kinda in the same situation where- sure, you can go prowlers, but it’s pretty dogshit right now and it feels terrible to use. I’d be fine with orb nerf but the issue is that games are getting shorter and if I had to wait 12-15 mins, and that’d be the GOOD form time, with these items? Kayn would be pretty unplayable imo

Before when games lasted marginally longer, yes. Orb buff was well deserved. But now you really can't revert that specific buff. Right now assassins have to snowball even more to be effective while before you just could go even and still manage to do your job. Now we have a lot of healing, shielding and hp on a lot of champions (incl assassins). I think they should modify some items (like gotedrinker) to be inefficent on assassins. And they should buff mithic passive accross the board so that one doesnt buy it for stats as much as it buys it for the passive (X stats for each leggendary) Also adcs using assassin items aint that great either.

i do agree stealth its to strong here i loved how dota has implemented their vision vs invis as you got multiple tools to actually counter invis while not beeing unfair to champs that use invis. there its dust costs about 400gold and reveals any invisible unit in a large area but lasts only few seconds has 2 charges, there are sight wards and they have no vision by themselfs but if you stand near it it reveals invis units in about 400-500 range and lastly gem of true sight an item that costs 800 gold and does nothing but give true sight to wearer and its droped upon death. i just belive its better desinhn like this as you dont have a way to complecty negate invis yet not be ultra vulnerable

Without taking numbers into account, Zed's design seems close to being the most fair. He accumulates the damage and presents opportunities for counter play along the way e.g. Zhonya's, Barrier or other. On the other end of the spectrum I'd say champions like Rengar is the most unhealthy, because his way of assassinating is literal one-shotting someone. Apparently becoming the ultimate hunter means going invisible and running straight at your enemy. A shame since the rest of his kit is thematic and cool, but holy hells what a goofy ult. His ult could've been centered more around brushes, really cementing his dominance in the jungles of the map. Really make you feel like you're in his territory now, and have him be reasonably weaker without them. Alas, angery kitty run at you fast with Q+crit for the nuke.

Kayn is well designed champion. He's that edgy anime introvert boi who hates everYone and just comes in and out to hunt another target. But man, the last time I saw anybody play Kayn this way instead of "sit behind a wall and wait for W and Q to come up and then oneshot because I'm building full DMG" is when his passive got nerfed and somebody was actually doing the in&out build not for full DMG but mobility

His kit is talon's but better, he is unique when he is transformed into rhaast, but when he is the shadow assassin he is purely a better Talon

I disagree with Zed. He's just passable. Pre 6 he's fine. But post 6 he's becomes a point and click dmg bot that does dmg without even landing his q which btw is east to land bc no cast time. I still say he's passable bc he's not exactly hard to shut off. U always know where he's gonna come on his ult so yeah. Not ass. Not good. Just passable

I would really prefer the standard “S,A,B,C,D,F” style tier list for the graphic, also maybe talk about the champ and then rank them instead of ranking then talking.

For correction, nocturne wasnt op because of the dash on stridebreaker but the opposite. He was op after the dash was taken away, and changed for an AoE slow, which was huge for him, since getting on someone and using stridebreaker meant that his thether was practically unbreakable without a flash or some sort of dash, maybe it wasnt even with flash.
