My first Bionicle was Onua. We were on a family trip in Finland's largest village shop, and in there I spotted for the first time one of those cardboard shelves full of Toa Mata canisters. Immediately fell in love with Onua's design and essentially cried until my parents bought it for me (I was 7 at the time I think).

I remember when I had friends who collected Bionicle sets. They had the Toa Metru and the dark hunter sets. I was so fascinated by them and thought they were awesome. This was around me being 5 years old. Apparently, my parents took notice or that led to me begging them (I don't quite remember which as my memory is pretty fuzzy around my 4-6 years). When I turned six, my parents got me three Bionicles for my birthday. They were Toa Metru Nuju and Toa Metru Onewa and Vahki Vorzakh. My dad helped me put them together and I absolutely cherished them. I even sometimes slept with their canisters like how a child might typically sleep with a stuffed animal in such fashion.

Lewa mata was my first. I was super lucky to experience the entirety of G1 as I grew up, got my first one when I was 3 or 4. Bionicle became an integral part of my childhood, no joke. I have this sweet memory of my grandpa asking me stealthily for a set number and winking so that my parents wouldn't notice, then the next time I was visiting grandparent's house, lo and behold, a canister was sitting there on the table in the guest room. I got so invested in the story and characters, that they took a permanent spot next to franchises like Star Wars. Then of course I got older, never lost interest but "grew out" out of playing with the sets, so I just followed the story until it ended. I was a teenager and somehow still felt devastated that the story was over, felt like an official "end" of my childhood. Now I'm and adult with way more responsibilities and a 9-5 job, but whenever I'm visiting my parents' house, I open my big ol' box and look at all the core memories I've gathered, sitting there just the way I left them. And I'm unreasonably happy every time I do that.

Long story short i ran to my mother and begged her to buy the rahkshi for me. And the funny thing is that during my ride home while holding the rahkshi there was this song on the radio called alpha beta gaga by air and evertime i hear the song or someone whistling that is close to that in the song my mind goes immediatly to that memory.
