I used to work at Sally's and the Ion creme lightener is by far my favorite bleach. I have tight coily hair and when I use their creme lightener with their developer and mix in their Absolute Perfection Booster Step 1. I'm telling you if you want to keep your curl pattern intact, use this combo. My hair feels so brittle with other bleaches, but with Ion's cream lightener, my hair barely feels different and it doesn't come out dry. I always recommended these products, especially the Absolute Perfection Booster Step 1, if you're trying to bleach and you want to ensure the health of your hair, it really does work and I never bleach my hair without it.

When I’m doing highlights, if they’re already light.. i won’t go above 10vol, if they’re darker I’ll use 20… I’ve never noticed breakage with it, it’s usually super even, and a good mixing consistency. Now if I used 30+.. then yes. I noticed damage but if you stick to the lower developers, it’s great.

Love your videos, Brad. 😘 I would like to add a bit of advice to your viewers who want to lighten at home: DON’T use 30 vol. developers, guys. “Low and slow” is the safest, most reliable way to lighten your hair. The lifting power is in the powder lighteners, the developer just activates them. You can get very bright, beautiful lift with the ION or Wella products, using 10 vol. developer, without the breakage. It will just take time, which shouldn’t be as much of a concern at home. Check your hair after 45 minutes if you’re going for very blonde and reapply fresh product right on top of what’s there to push past those stubborn warm tones. You can do this safely with 10 or even 5 vol. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for making this video, Brad! It’s sooo useful and informative, I never know which bleach to get when lightening my hair… I’ve always kind of defaulted to Quick Blue mostly because it’s the one I’ve always used. I bought the 1 pound bucket recently and I was shocked at how big the container was vs how much powder was in there! It’s a huge waste, you’re so right; and it does have a very lumpy consistency. However, it’s always done a great job lightening my hair. All I needed afterwards was a toner and I ended up with a beautiful platinum blonde. No need to bleach twice, which is great cuz my hair is naturally pretty dry and having to bleach again would seriously damage it. So again, thank you so much, Brad for investigating this for us. 💕

When I used to bleach my hair regularly, I always used quick blue with a 20 developer, I've never had problems with clumping but it looks like I used more developer than Brad did. I went to a professional stylist and a week later I cut off all my hair due to the damage, breaking and falling off in clumps. @@two.desi_mates any and all bleach is gonna damage your hair. Just don’t use too high a volume or leave it on too long. Your hair’s current health is gonna also effect how damaged it gets. Sectioning your hair is important so it’s not overwhelming (personally I do four main sections, and start applying in the back first) Very THIN sections when you apply it is super important so you don’t miss spots and it looks even.

@@keyiahmcclain4229 thanks and what volume developer would u recommend for black hair? Yes, it's gonna damage the hair you're right. I've virgin hair and I'm not gonna apply to roots. As a store manager for Sally, I love your videos!! So informative! I know you have your own semi color line, I would be really interested in seeing reviews of the ION Brights permanent colors?? Also maybe a video of T14-T18 and etc. A lot of people go for the T18 but I explain that the hair is not light enough so it won’t do anything and people still get it. Maybe explain what they do for the hair color that they get? Thank you!!!! You rock! I share your videos to my team and anyone else I know!

I use the Ion cream lightener and it works FAST. It bleached out old box color like it never existed. I had it in less than 20 minutes and I was ready to rinse. I'd never use it for 45-60 minutes unless you wanted to melt your skull. On virgin roots it bleached them almost white in about 5 minutes.

I love the ion bright white bleach. However, I prefer the creme one, and if you do use powder- I got my Hispanic friends natural black thick hair to lift to bright blonde with just 20 volume developer after sitting for 40 minutes with no foils or anything. I think their formula is just much stronger then all of the others. So I am not surprised that all the hair was over processed!

I’ve only used the Ion Bright White to bleach my hair before and have never had a problem with hair loss/breakage. But I usually use 20/30vol mixed together and not for so long. I’m super scared to over process so I don’t leave it on for as long!! Don’t be afraid to use it, just keep an eye on your hair ☺️

The quick blue,you're so right about the plastic. I opened it thinking it'd be 3/4 or even 1/2 full,and it was barely even 1/4 full. Makes no sense to make the bucket that huge. Quick blue is what I had used and it worked pretty good IMO.

I use Ion bright white in the cream lightner which goes up to 8 levels (my hair is extremely dark brown near black), and use 40 developer on my roots for like 10 to 15 minutes, and it does what it says in that time. So yeah. It is a very powerful lightner so its definitely something to remember when using this brand. I also use their brand developer, too, so i think that helps with it as well.

I don't know where you buy the Wella bucket bleach powder, but where I live that baby cost $12 for the 16oz bucket, which is enough product for lightening the roots each month or every two months for an entire year. For me, it will last two years of evening out the roots only. As long as I keep up the roots, I don't need to worry about over process or nothing like that. It is amazing product and not expensive at all. I agree,mixing is so easy! I tend to use one scoop for 3oz and that is enough to cover 1.5 inch of roots. I am trying to avoid my naturally silver gunmetal hair but I like to even out my silver locks to look more even color as possible. so I try to avoid going too white so when I use the Kiss tintation silver it doesn't look blue and I don't look like a Maiko shark. Anyways thank you for being sweet on the Wella brand and not trashing it so much. People undermined the inexpensive lower price brands at times. People don;t realize that sometimes the cheaper brands are really good products too.

I use BW2, I can attest that the scent isn’t great, but I’ve gotten used to it bc I bleach my hair almost every month. My hair is always crunchy after using it, but after washing once or twice that usually goes away. I actually think it’s lightener that sticks to your hair and my hair actually got so dry because I one time I didn’t wash it after bleaching and one section of my hair got so dry and is still drier than the rest of my hair today. And I rinsed my hair 4 times to make sure it was all off. So yeah I can confirm that BW2 stinks bad and leaves hair crunchy, but it is great at lightening tho.

My professional salon used one of these on me. Not even to bleach my whole head. She left lifted orange on my hair. Yes, I went from box red to orange and went to have it corrected, because I got scared of truly damaging my hair further. She freaking left the orange in as highlights and toned them beige. White and beige on a cool-neutral. I looked so terrible. Dyed my hair blue and green and the green turned yellow-blonde. I’m so, so, so upset. It’s been a few months and I still hate myself. BW is terrible, Christie and Co (in New York) is terrible. Avoid both like a plague.
@scarletsletter44662 жыл бұрын
Wow I'm sorry this happened to you. I've never been to Christie & Co but I know for a fact that they don't specialize in blond. Tbh if you need corrective color (which is what it sounds like, if u used a box), try to find a stylist who specializes in doing that. If you go into Manhattan, it'll cost u ~$300 but depending on how bad the hair is, that can be worth it. Glad you're happy with yr result now 💞

I just wish I could find a way to use Brads amazing waves trick with the iron on short hair without my hair feeling like straw afterwards 😭 It's super frustrating!! My hair felt great, They did sell me a little bottle of liquid add in, don't know what that was. I had a lot of bleach left so I asked my granddaughter if she wanted to try it on her black dyed hair that she wanted to lighten. It made her hair a beautiful red that she is in love with. She left it for 25 minutes.
