Good comparison of strengths and weaknesses. In a small/ bedroom size HT, the 6's would also have the advantage of easier incorporation as a Center channel below the TV or above it in a wall mount setup. Both look like winners.

Thanks for the content. Small item, on the LP8v2 written content, there's a small typo, "The Kali LP-8v2 is the second generation powered 2-way Studio Monitor featuring a 6.5-inch midwoofer...". Likely just an artifact from a LP6v2 copy/paste.

Hi Erin, just subscribed ! Would the V2 LP6 or LP8’s be okay for my music room? It’s only about 10ft by 10ft in size… I do not do any recording or mixing, I just want to plug my keyboards into my Soundcraft Mixer (in stereo) then plug the mixer to the speakers… I also listen to KZbin music and my normal WAVS and MP3’s, I’m asking all this because I just sold my Yamaha HS7’s, my keyboards sounded awful through them! very “mid” sounding and “boxy” My speakers have to go in the corner of my room, around 8 inches from the wall……. My maximum budget is £500 british MAX - any help would be great 👍🏻😊

What an expected awesome review! Thanks man :) Can I ask what you are using in terms of isolation, like an isoplat or similar? I tend to use 4 squash balls cut in half and MDF cut to shape. Anyway, just a fantastic review and now I am about to order the LP6 :) Well scratch that, where I am in South East Asia they were out of stock so I went for the LP8s :) Still gong for the squash balls though lol

Hello Erin. First time watching your video reviews. Great job! Liked and Subbed. Couple of questions for you: I had just bought the LP-8 v2 earlier today right before seeing this review. Although I have a smaller room, I do intend on using these for both production and listening to music for enjoyment. I will be doing a fair amount of near-field mixing, but will mostly be listening to music in mid-field and playing games/watching movies. Did I mess up by getting the LP-8s? I am coming from a JBL LSR305 [gen 1] and wanted something louder, bigger and "the next step" up. I hope I made the right decision, although I do have 30 days to return them if the 6s would suit me better. Lastly, I already have a JBL LSR10 sub. The guys at Sweetwater seemed to think that the JBL sub and the Kali monitors would be a good pairing. Do you think they could integrate with well each other? Thanks!!!
@kaliaudio3 жыл бұрын
Not Erin, but I think we can help. 1. Listen to the LP-8s before you make a decision. I prefer them to the LP-6s, but everyone's ears and rooms are different. If you find them to be too bassy you might want to consider 6s instead. 2. Easy peasy integration with the 310s. Should be an excellent pairing.

What would be a budget subwoofer you would pair with these speakers? What connection cable would you use for these speakers to get best sound to PC? I have soundcard with RCA and Optiocal in, but I saw the Kali only has RCA and XLR. Should I be using some sort of XLR to RCA connection for best sound, or a USB adapter and bypass the Soundcard? I am using a Titanium x-fi HD Titanium card which was shown to have a decent DAC at its time.

I was wondering, were you able to test them using a passive monitor controller? I have a pair of LP-6v1 and they don't handle the passive controller at all. In a combination the sound is very distorted and I heard that Kali in the V2 have addressed this issue. Thanks.

Is it possible to hook up a standard home theatre style subwoofer to speakers like this or is the company made sub the only option? If it is possible, do you then lose the ability to stop the main speakers from playing sub frequencies?
@juanmillaruelo76473 жыл бұрын
Yeah, an interesting detail. Letting the sub handle the below 80 or even 100 looks like a great idea. Does the speaker "offload" everything on the sub below the cutoff? I would guess so. Is it two subs or one? Being powered speaker the simpler solution would be to have two (?)
@kaliaudio3 жыл бұрын
@@juanmillaruelo7647 Subwoofers are almost always a good choice where budget and space allow. A lot of pro audio subs (including our own) have a built in crossover that sends high-passed signal to the mains. There are also very good crossovers that you can get for this exact purpose. The answer is yes: this will offload those bass frequencies, reduce system distortion, and raise system output. Depending on your output needs, one sub is probably sufficient.

What’s the difference between these and the IN series? I have a small room and would be using near field. Which would be best? I was about to get the IN5 but do the LP do the same for less? Thanks.
@homeboi8083 жыл бұрын
IN are coaxial for the tweeter/midrange, which is beneficial for near-field (traditional speakers, like the LP speakers, will heavily reduce in output around the crossover frequency when you move a decent deal off-axis vertically, as you should always be around ear level with the tweeter, or at least have it angled & aimed at your ears).

@matthewblue78393 жыл бұрын
The IN series has 3 speakers and as mentioned the mid and tweeter are coaxial, that means on the same vertical plane so no phase issues. The IN sends specific frequencies ranges to all 3 speakers, so the bass and mid should sound a lot clearer, as the bass in a 2 way system has to strain to reproduce higher frequencies. The IN series also has 3 amps, 1 each dedicated to each speaker. In every way the IN series should be better, clearer and more accurate monitors.

First of all big thanks for the content! Any thoughts on how worse would LP-8 be in a smaller room (~2.5x4 meters) for a nearfield use? They are cheaper than PL-6 now in one online shop, so its kinda hard to resist this bargain. Or is it better to pay more and go with LP-6 as they fit the room size better?

"It's already so low relative to the midrange that you still want a subwoofer" - how does that sentence make sense? If it is already "so low", why do you need a sub for?
@MuzdokOfficial3 ай бұрын
He means the lower octave are much more quiet then higher octaves because the speakers cant be as loud in volume around 50hz so a sub would extend better down there.
