Jurisma its not the titanium. The 4x handles were investment cast Ti. The molds eventually started warping, and the handles were coming out warped and with all kinds of imperfections. The market was jusy not demanding enough at the time for Benchmade to be able to justify producing more 4x knives.

Not going to lie, I'm a little put off by Balisong manufacturers. They complain about "counterfeit products", but fail to produce items in quantity that customer want. You reach a point when a "knockoff" is better than nothing. Blowing off your customer base doesn't build any sympathy.

Brs knives should be about half the price they are. (Obviously varying by model and depending on a few things) but they can still charge ridiculous prices because they choose to only release them in small quantities knowing the demand is high enough for them to produce larger quantities more often then they currently are.

As a trained knife-fighter, I prefer the tanto blade, even on my combat fixed blade. It is hard to snap the point if you run into thicker bones when stabbing. Also, the joining edge will slice deeply when you are parrying an attacker's arm or making offensive slashes.

On the contrary, a double edged balisong is the one used as a practice knife here in the philippines. You will learn how to respect the knife and to handle it correctly. The original purpose of the balisong or bente nueve as we call it is to kill quickly. So the practice also involves concealment, quick draw and stabbing precisely the target in awkward positions. But the practice is discreet because it is illegal in the Philippines. ✌️🇵🇭

I had nothing but trouble with a bear and son, very very stiff joints would not break in, scales fell off, then the handles fell off. Dangerous knife went into the garbage. I think I'm going to give the kimera a try.

It slapped my knuckles hard until I got a feel for it. Smooth as silk now. I would prefer a different blade profile. Tip is too fine.

You know u can open them knives by holding the locking pin between thumb and index finger and just letting it fall open then catch the other end . It's waaaay faster than flipping . What u want is an assisted blade with the opener on top , move it , knife flies open . Fav blade for work is Milwaukee red knives that take razor construction blades , always sharp , flips right open , light, perfect

Bear & Sons is a great company, just try to avoid any of their knives that use zinc handles. Others, the B200 is made out of G-10, and is a fantastic flipper.

I had a balisong when I was young, 40 years ago. Good to play with and very useful cutting mangoes but so darn hard to clean after. Not worth the hassle!.

I think you just need to avoid cutting really messy things with it so that nothing gets near the pivot points, I helped prep some quail after a small hunting day and it was pretty helpful cutting the wings and stuff, and no more hassle than a normal knife to clean the blade

i remember being around the age of 12 or 13 when i owned the Benchmade 42... not knowing i had a grail knife plus then it only costed around 250$ or something in that range... sadly some loser stole it from me and knowing they arent being made anymore sucks ill NEVER forget that BEAUTIFUL blade !♥♥

and here i am in australia that can't get one and I'm stuck here with a $10 beard balisong that was really stiff out the box and i had to mess with to get it nice flowing. i might be able to get a trainer balisong so i can learnt tricks. but with my shiity one i can flip it open a couple of ways and its fun. so i hope to get a trainer

i got a bear and son and it broke in 2 days, that sucked but otherwise is flipped well, all i would say is that you need something soft to practice over (not wood or carpet as it will break) or don't expect it to last too long

And now Bear and Sons/Bear Ops, brought back the Bradley Kimira. I’ve had nothing but had experience with them. I have the Bear Song whatever with the raindrop, shrink wrapped handles. I literally have a BM 42 from DHgate that was like $21 shipped to my door, and use that every time I wanna flip. Sad. I’m still willing to see what they did with the Bradley. Maybe it’s okay. The tang pins are so terrible on the Bear Ops knife. They broke and I had to replace them so many times. I do not recommend.
