"Apart from Josh Anderson" Yeah, can we all agree that he has been the biggest disappointment for the Habs this season? Kent Hughes has waited too long to trade him, now he's stuck with a disengaged player with a huge contract.. As for Primeau, to me he's been a pleasant surprise.

I can only listen and comment on KZbin because the amount of commercials in the Gazette make the small podcasts impossible to listen to. The Canadiens need forwards and puck-skating defensemen who can both forecheck and get the puck out of our end. In that way, cut down on shots against.

Anderson, Harvey Pinard and Ylonen. That said, if a second, a third and a fourth liner are the most disappointing out of 19 players, your team is doing ok. There has been a lot of solid development this year, as well as a couple of rebounds in terms of Gallagher and Armia.

The challenge with Anderson is that he gets at least one good scoring a game. His % of goals/shots has to be the lowest of his career. My biggest disappointment was how management got stuck with 3 goalies. This was foreseeable last summer and they were cornered. They could have papered Allen to Laval without sending him down (à la Samsonov earlier this season out of Toronto)

Pretty much everything has been as I would have expected except maybe Caufield.Most thought 40 for sure I expected a minimum of 30 likely 35 with a MINUS.His entire line was a minus as expected so in reality the only difference this season and last was less injuries and a few lucky wins stolen by goalies otherwise same team same expectations. Suzuki was obviously above expectations goal scoring wise but his shooting % will not be maintained so expect less next year unless of course Hutson makes a huge impact.

My 2 cents here Andrew.....your going with a disappointment with Ylonen.....you have to give the young guys grace here....the major issues are with the vets on the team Gallagher and Anderson have been terrible, the defense has been horrible and goal tending has been less than par. Example Habs and Detroit last night...4-1 lead and they gave up 4 unanswered goals including the OT goal and you just can't have this. Montreal for years has struggled keeping leads and giving up ridiculous goals due to mistakes. Montreal still has major work to do in the off season. They need a top goal scorer and they need help on the PP, they need help on defense to work with the younger D....and I'm sorry but Premeau is not a decent backup goal tender. Monty should be the backup and we need to target a # 1 goal tender.....

I know most would point to Josh anderson but I have never liked him I consider him a dumb hockey player who plays by himself doesn't utilize his teammates.He is also often leaving the defensive zone early again a selfish move the habs if anything need a LOT better defensive mind set coaching is not doing it so the players themselves need to THINK better defensively.

@idarthcadeus Sure that's one argument. But did he to anything yo deserve a permanent promotion to play higher up? It didn't take long for Roy to perform and be promoted. Ylonen never showed that consistency.
@idarthcadeus
@idarthcadeus Ай бұрын
@@mikepouliot3630 , well Roy didn't do anything but go directly from Laval to second line while Ylonen has been paying dues with minimal fourth line opportunities. He needs to be given the proper chance to succeed or fail. I believe if given 16 to 20 minutes on first or second line for at least 10 games he would impress. Habs had the perfect year to do this but dropped the ball in my opinion. I just don't think he has got a fair shake with Montreal.

St Louis . Without a coach with experience it's a slap in the face to all watching their pathetic system. Man to man d? I'll tell you something else... Slavkosky is feeding off his line mates and choking their output at the same time. Suzuki started ignoring him on the ice after the All star break and started producing... Caulfield is following suit... Trust me ... 50 points for top minutes and PP 1st line playing with 2 top snipers should be 80+ That way Susuki can get 115. Caulfield 100... I'd also look at playing Matheson up front top line and PP.

Other than Josh Anderson - he looks so out of place on almost every shift. When he circles the opposition net with the puck at full speed and creates nothing, I want to walk out of the room. I agree with Rick as the Team Defence is horrible - yes the Canadiens have a great number of young defencemen BUT they are still in the bottom four of Goals Against. So are these just young defencemen who have great potential or is the system they are learning not helping the team.
@idarthcadeus

Roy in his first season as a pro in Laval gets called up and is on the second line getting good minutes. RHP, initially played over twenty games on the first line. Ylonen, who works hard every shift, plays well in the D zone and finishes checks gets 8 or 9 minutes on the fourth line. Ylonen is also the more senior of the playes. What kind of opportunity has he gotten to succeed ?? Management has failed him in his development here, he is a high skilled player who needs to play with top six players to succeed. In my opinion, it looks blatantly clear that that Roy and RHP have been given preferential treatment in this regard, and the main reason I can think of is that they're French Canadian, and that is concerning.
@hELLOGUY-gy5hg
@hELLOGUY-gy5hg Ай бұрын
RHP took opportunities last year. They gave him chances this year. Ylonen did not capitalize on his opportunities. As opposed to Roy, who came in and produced. What's concerning is you gave a terrible assessment and blamed it on language.
@idarthcadeus
@idarthcadeus Ай бұрын
@hELLOGUY-gy5hg, you didn't comprehend a thing I said. I also didn't say anything about language but while I'm on that point, the Canadiens will greatly increase their chances of winning when they start hiring the best coaches regardless if they speak French or not.

@@idarthcadeus "In my opinion, it looks blatantly clear that that Roy and RHP have been given preferential treatment in this regard, and the main reason I can think of is that they're French Canadian, and that is concerning."- You I understood clearly and I called you out on it. The fact you even mention Roy makes me question if you're a troll or that bad at assessing talent. When I said Language it inferred French Canadian. It didn't seem that hard to comprehend. Considering you can't wrap your head around MSL's hiring shows your lack of understanding. They keep mentioning they are in a rebuild. Do you think they will hire the best coach? They don't want to increase their chances of winning right now. Likely for next year too.
@idarthcadeus
@idarthcadeus Ай бұрын
@@hELLOGUY-gy5hg, I like Marty, and I hope he's with the club when they are contending but they need to change the hiring criteria. Also, Ylonen can not be assessed properly unless he is given the top minutes on top two lines for at least ten games. If he doesn't impress well he's gone then. You can't make apples to oranges comparisons here.
