Hi Tim , very interesting and informative vid as always . I've ended up in a strange situation with my printers . I spent an age trolling ebay for a used pro-1000 only to keep missing the good ones ! . I decided to jump in and buy a NEW pro-300 to meet my needs ( wants ! ) , but for some reason I still looked for a used pro-1000 . As luck would have it , a used pro-1000 came up local without ink for £180 . It hadn't been used for 3 years so bit of a risk ! . After buying and installing a set of 12 inks ( £650 ) all worked perfect . I now use them both with fantastic results , but but but , I will say that unlike the pro-1000 the ink levels in the 300 do drop off quite quickly ( I have printed lots too be fair ) .

I went for the pro-300. I can’t compare with any of these other printer. I don’t print a lot so the 1000 was overkill and would have cost too much. Thanks Fotospeed !!

I recently started on my printing journey with the ip8750. It's a superb printer for the money. As is often eluded to on this channell. profiling is key to getting the best out of the PC monitor-Printer-Paper triangle. Thanks for the very informative videos.

I have only developed and printed from film before so this is entirely new to me. I looked at 10-12 printers and decided on the pro 200 which arrives tomorrow. Now I have to learn all about profiles and papers. I have only just heard about your company today through a Julian Baird video so my inks and papers will come through you. Great video, thanks.

I only recently decided to buy a por-300 to benefit from Canon double cashback. I wasn’t thinking bout that before seeing the discount just to say how beginner I am with those aspects. My advice would be to use canon print & layout software and use the Canon paper that come with the printer. I was able to print amazing prints from the get go. This app makes the process so easy.

@@gilcarag274congrats & nice! I like printing from LR6. It seems the easiest for me & that is usually where my photos reside anyway. I also use Affinity Photo for some editing & own Qimage Ultimare printing software that I really never spent enough time to get comfortable printing from but do a pretty nice job of it. I guess you let the Canon Driver control the color? Y/N ?

Thanks for the vid. Do the 200 & 300 models have user changeable waste tank also. I guess I should leave my Pro 100 on all the time to use less waste ink. I’ll give it a go. I try to print something every week or 2 but have gone 3-4 months without printing. = No clogs as of yet. That is why I went way of the Canon.

As I have been down the rabbit hole in search of a Canon printer in 2023, here's what I've learnt : If you are selling your prints as more of a hobby where your customers just want a sub 100 pound print the Pro 200 with it's dye based ink is the sweet spot. Colourful arty style images work really well with the dye based Pro 200. Of course if you are doing limited numbered prints and are charging accordingly pigment ink is the professional way to go although not as intense colour wise. I wish I knew these facts in Jan 2023.

@@thomastuorto9929 Dye ink printers will do if your only aiming for the sub 100 pound customer market as I said. If dye ink was archival I would swoop as the colour gamut is more vibrant for sure.

Thanks for the informative video. Questions. If one was only to print Black and White prints how dose that effect the ink supply? IE would only the "black''need emplacement? A second question. How do these printers perform printing on canvas? Cheers.

You use this 8750 for digital negatives. There doesn't seem to be that much info on YT about what to look for in a printer to make them, such as the usefulness of greys, maybe even other colours working their way in even maybe having a PMK pyro effect. I say this after just looking at a straight black inked inkjet and wondering about its usefulness in this regard vs say the 8750.

Please comment on Epson vs Canon printers. Epson has some newer models. Especially for black & white. Also what happens to inkjets if you do not print for several months. Maintenance differences? Thank you.

I've got a Pro 10s, presently I tend to print once a week and turn it off in between, would it be more economical to leave it on, but maybe print 2 or 3 times a week so there is not a week between each print run?

I'm a hobby photographer and only plan on printing a couple large prints per month, for some wall prints in my home. I'm hearing the Epson tank 8550 printers tend to clog a lot, and are more 'volume printers'. I'm considering the Canon Pro200. What printer would you recommend?

Can the canon ip8750 /pro 200 print digital negatives that are satisfactory for methods other than the cyanotype? Like platinum palladium? Because as far as I know, it is not possible to control the power and density of the ink in Canon printers? Many thanks

same way you install all your other profiles. Pretty sure Red River Paper has instructions for Canon & Epson printers for both Mac & Windows. It would be the same but with who's ever ICC profile your using whether it be one you have created or from the paper supplier of your choice. Usually, the Paper supplier has ICC profile installation instructions on their website. Who's paper are you using/trying?

I got the Canon Pixma 620 $249 the other day. Great for hobby prints up to 8.5x11 and very economical. Maybe if your selling professional you might want a better printer but this does great. You should take a look at it before deciding.

DON"T buy a Canon printer - the inks are extortionate. Go for the Epson eco-tanks instead. I had the Canon 9000, nothing but trouble, so went for the Epson 8500 instead and got excellent prints straight away!
@cditfurth
@cditfurth 5 ай бұрын
The Epson EcoTank printers are nowhere near the print quality of the Canon ipf 1000 Pro or the Epson P900. Unfortunately, the latter has serious problems: The front paper feed regularly jams, the rollers leave marks on the photos and the paper corners are regularly smudged. I used two P900s and sold the third one straight away, without even unpacking it. I had none of these problems with the Canon. The paper handling with vacuum pressure works perfectly. The Canon 1000 Pro weighs three times more than the rickety Epson. This is due to the solid workmanship.

Pro-Tip - don’t buy any printer from Canon. They rip you off by wasting most ink on cleaning.
@cditfurth

I use the Canon 1000 Pro. You should do a nozzle test every 3 days. This costs nothing, but prevents self-cleaning. Or you print several times a week, as pros do.

@@shuycg I used the Epson P900 for about two years. To be more precise, I had three. Because I had bought an additional warranty, it wasn't a problem financially. But even the service technician, who had to come several times, told me that Epson had very good printers: but a class above. Financially, the Epson P900 was a disaster after all. The wobbly front paper feed was jammed on both until it no longer worked. When it did work, the printer produced colour stains, marks from the transport rollers on the printouts when it wasn't tearing the paper. The paper handling of these printers is catastrophic. The Canon IPF 1000 Pro, on the other hand, has perfect paper handling and prints perfectly. You can calibrate it yourself thanks to an in-built sensor and also create your own print media using the AM1X files that every good paper manufacturer offers. This prepares the printer perfectly. The P900 is a rattletrap, the 1000 Pro is solidly built for eternity. You can even replace the print head yourself.
