I have a wattbike, rower and have recently used the skierg at my local gym and in my opinion the skierg is the hardest for a workout. Love it.

Ordered my first rower from c2 this week. Will watch this video (again) when we add to the home gym down the road.

Ski Erg for me. I have bike's with smart trainer etc. always liked the look of xc skiing. When I'm in serious training for marathon or trail race I couple my ski Erg up with my altitude generator and ski at 4000m altitude.

I chose the bike after first buying the rower. I’ve now had the bike for three years. I like it for those times when I want a lower intensity workout. I save the rower for high intensity.

Thanks for a good summary! I’ve been rowing for about a year and a half and have figured the technique out pretty well. I did add a skierg which I use after I go out running. Happy with the combo but they’re ridculously expensive, especially to have both. If I had to choose one it’d be the rower bc it just hits more of the body and I’m super strong in everyday tasks now thanks to it. Also from your other video on mobility, I got a foam roller which made such a fundamental change in my workouts that I have it as my everyday warmup. I recommend it to everyone.

Another great video. I'm totally into lifting, and then my cardio is the rower. I plan on adding nothing more because I'm getting everything I need from what I have. However I love how informative all your videos are!! I'm 59 in eleven days, and I'm still going strong. Only started rowing a few weeks back when I got rid of my elliptical machine, a machine that I hated!!!!

Yes, elliptical is just a waste of time. Normal [trail] running does it all. Plus the health benefits of exercising outside.

So sorry I did it again! Finger hit wrong button. When you open up the damper to 10 on the BikeErg and try to sprint as hard and fast as you can believe me you will not last long--your legs will blow up and you will be winded and I don't care what kind of shape you are in because the harder and faster you try to push --the harder the machine fights you back.

My buying tip would be to find a local gym and try the machines out. The skierg is quite a different workout to anything else so it is worth seeing if it is something that is actually for you first. It's worth paying a one off day pass at a gym given how much you will be investing in one or both of the machines. The skierg can be a but of a pain to move if you have it up against a wall as you need to tip it backwards to engage the wheels. I agree that the bike erg is very easy to move about, the wheels are far better than on the rower and skierg. It would be great if you could do additional skierg workout videos Shane. Does anyone know of a cover for rowers when stored in the broken position? I have only ever seen the ones for when it setup. I wish Concept2 would make them for broken storage.
@Sharon-pb7so3 жыл бұрын
Depending on the how big the rower is broken down, you might want to get a couple of BBQ covers and cut the ends off on one end of each of them, then sew it together to make a longer cover. There's covers for motorcycles that might work, there's also a sheet or blanket. Right now my rower is covered in dust. 😊 I'm still recovering from extensive shoulder surgery.

I haven’t made a purchase yet, but being as my main workout tool is the RowErg and I do some weight and body weight work (push ups, lunges) besides, I’d go with the SkiErg. As odd as I thought it was when I first saw it, the movement does fill in the blanks on rowing. Great video!

Since I already had a Turbo trainer I went for the SkiErg as complement for my rower and I am loving it. Rower to warm me up before weight training, SkiErg to kill me off after the training. If I don’t have a lot of time I do 3000m rowing, 500 double unders, 300 burpees and 5000m on the SkiErg all as fast as I can.

I have owned a Concept 2 rower for about five years. Once the country shut down in early 2020 and my CrossFit gym closed, I got on the backorder list for the skierg. It arrived in October and has been a great addition to my home gym.

@DaveNeve Жыл бұрын
The bike is a missed chance as they should have given it handles that you push and pull. That allows you to do so much more. And they could have combined the ski erg and rower as some companies now do.

Thank you for helping me get into rowing. I'm thinking about upgrading my current one to a concept 2. What it is best website to go to to buy one or is it better to purchase one in a store?

Of course, there are cycling options that are not SkiErg or a spin bike. Smart trainers and smart bikes are IMO superior to both. Using a bike that controls/varies resistance sets up possibilities and a degree of user interest that the two options you’ve listed do not. Zwift on a SkiErg is half the experience. I’ve not tried a SkiErg, and it intrigues me. But, it’s hard to imagine it holding one mentally the way that good cycling options naturally can these days. The machine you can use consistently is superior to any that you don’t…so it has to be something that’ll use your mind as well as your body.

I wish someone would invent a cardio machine that fully emulates running hills using the whole body but with no impact. I think a spin bike where you can balance pedaling standing AND swinging your arms freely would be ideal. Ellipticals are more emulating walking than running.
