That grinder is an old Sioux heavy duty sander, formerly Albertson and Co. Bought by Snap-on in the 90's. A little different than the Black and Deckers. I'm sure they are both great tools.

I still have two and two in storage. Love the wild cat on the head. Only problems that I had was fibers getting in and rubbing on the armature. Take off the cover and install Scotch Brite pad made as a gasket/filter and it stopped the problem.

The centerless ones seem to be the way to go because you must use the safety flange to use them. Just so someone will most likely not take the time to put the black ones on the center ones and get hurt.

The extension is great but rarely used. I only use mine when I use my fat ass sisal buff, that buff is too fat for the grinder. And yes as polishers we WILL come up with some unique solutions to get the job done. Kinda like my tube polisher, this last cab guard (brand new in pieces) saved me about 20 hours. An 8' rough stick took 18 minutes start to finish, 20' sticks for the outer hoop takes about 48 minutes per stick.

I have some like the black metal flanges but it looks like dips towards the center of the wheel and the guy at the chrome shop where I bought the said the flat outside edges are supposed to be facing each other. Hard to explain I guess but basically like if you had two dish plates/bowls and you faced the top of the plates together? So I'm kind of lost. Are the bottom of the dish plates/bowls supposed to be butted together or are the tops supposed to be together

So I ordered two of the harbor freight rotary polishers/sanders between 600-3500rpm with the 5/8in arbor. (I’m a beginner so didn’t want 6000 rpm yet). I have the buffs with the centers in them. I did what you did in the video at 6:20 with the safety flanges. However I don’t have enough room to screw the nut on there. I’m guessing I’ll have to get a different polisher and go with the dewalt one you recommend in your videos? Because the part that it hooks to and screw the nut onto it. It’s not long enough, so they have interchangeable parts for those? Sorry for the questions lol, just trying to get all this right. As I don’t want one of them flying off and injury myself.
