Thank you very much for including "defensive" (which in my eyes include my favourite turtling as well) playstyle as well - many "pro" players seems to be convinced (and sometimes are very vocal and preachy about it) that defensive playstyle should be punished to the extreme by game and/or should be completly erased from RTS playstyles, so that its users basically lose before the game even starts by simply choosing to play that way. Big respect!

Japanese is honestly a good one for 'new to rts' category

It's really beginner friendly, and it can go easily with any build order, like early onna bugaisha aggression, fast castle into samurai horseman and echo into samurai at age 3

Honestly I am completely new to rts and picked up AoE 4 and the dlc on a steam sale. I struggled against intermediate AI as almost everything but the English. As soon as I started messing with Japanese though I was able to start actually playing with my strategy and going for specific win conditions against intermediate AI. I'm tempted to bump it up to Hard but I know I will get obliterated by it

its so funny, everyone recommended for me to play French, and I find other civs a lot easier. French has to force the issue in feudal which can be very micro/macro intensive. Still enjoying them though.

Before the Sultans I have been going on/off with Mongols, but their playstyle of being hyper aggressive isn’t really for me, I always struggle of trying to do a rush and end up failing miserably where I only got to Castle by the 30min mark (which is super late) whilst others are already in Imperial. I gave the Chinese a try, and then the basic English to the Abbasids, nothing really stuck. And then the Byzantines came. I have always been a major Roman History nerd, and not surprisingly I found my playstyle with the Byzantines. I find the Byzantine as a very versatile and very adaptable faction well suited to my liking. Starting early from Feudal, I can either go super aggressive with the Hippodrome or have a strong Mercenary/Economy boost with the Vineyard; later on to Castle I can have an even bigger, diverse, and adaptable Mercenary army with the Golden Horn, or have an Army that can heal at anytime and anywhere with the Cistern; and come Imperial, no defense can really stand against anything when you can spam OP siege engines or have free units every so and then. In the Byzantines I have truly found the playstyle of being a versatile adaptive and mid-late game strong faction

Would highly recommend Valdemar’s build orders and would be very aggressive with Delhi if you can!

Unfortunately, there isn’t a really good method to use them at this point in the game :(
