Like driving on the left from the British, Creole language from the French and cuisine mostly Indian mixed with Chinese and European. Similar to how Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are of Indian race, most Mauritians do not like to associate themselves with India. Though not out of hatred, Mauritians like to identify themselves as Mauritians because they were born, raised and are different due to the aforementioned. Everyone is welcome to Mauritius including Indians. I think Indians are the people who immigrate most to Mauritius followed by Europeans. Culture is same as Indian and a lot of Indians think that all Mauritians come from Bihar. That is not true. They come from all over India. Hindus, muslims, Christians all have distinct cultures and they all cohabitate peacefully. Also Mauritians are inquisitive and love to know other cultures and since Indian culture, they already possess, they are interested in other cultures -Hence why you dont generally see them saying India. But they watch bollywood movies and eat the same things. Another thing is that majority of Mauritians speak 4 languages: Creole, English, French and Hindi/Urdu/Tamil/Telegu/Marathi/Bhojpuri.

First I would like to say Indian is a nationality rather than a race. If you visit Pakistan they do have Indian face too. Secondly, despite of ancestral route to India or Pakistan, Mauritius population is multiracial. Like genetically 70% indic/Indo, 20% Mozambique/Madagascar, 10% European or elsewhere. The percentage do varies. Like mine; Mozambique, Indian, and Pakistan.

YES I do love another country apart from my living in England, ( age 82 ). I also love Seychelles, which is where I met my ex-wife when I was on holiday. I did go to Seychelles on my own last year; but it not eaasy getting visa by submitting your own facial photo to their Police det. on line. I had to go to a library to get a fax sent to my agent which was accented. I will not go there again as far as I know. If I had spare cash ( none at this time ) I will go to Mauritius.
