@@polonrepy2599 thats not the reason, because Switzerland is a relatively small country with about 10 mio. population. There are far more Germans around, also in Thailand. No, the main reason is that Switzerland (some also associate Southern Germany or Austria with Switzerland in Thailand - which is actually a similar region in the Alps mountains and similar culture) became a kind of prototype for some countries - this was already the case in the 20. century in many countries, especially the ones in warm/hot countries, since the scenery (+ wealth, cleaness etc.) is for many such countries like as attractive as for people who liver more in colder climate zones countries with nice beach sceneries, hot/warm weather etc. ... if a country has itself nice beaches there is usually no big point to visit another country with quite the same beaches - except is a neighbor and good reachable. then this bit of a 'different' culture might still be interesting enough - but its not the big desires totally different landscapes/cultures can create.

@@publicminx Exactly, it's because of the contrast, it's so much different than to what people are used in their everyday life that it becomes attractive, Switzerland is seem as a prototype country in relation to organization, safety, and a comfortable life, since they are one of the most stable economies historically in Europe. And they do have beautiful natural scenarios, with the mountains and a "cozy" gastronomy with chocolate and Fondue. So it's basically like a dream country for many people. It's also a bit sad that for many people in the world the countries that are mentioned are basically US+Canada+Europe+Japan, and even inside europe very few countries are actually mentioned, the countries in the "periphery" are barely cited like Portugal, Poland, Czechia, Greece, etc., despite being countries with a rich history and also having a good quality of life. It's also surprising how little Mexico is mentioned in these videos from Asia, I thought that Mexico would be more know and at least some couple of persons would choose it but no, even Argentina and Brazil are more mentioned than Mexico. It's funny to think that Mexico is one of the most popular destinations in the Americas but people don't seem to know much about it in Asia, at least not strongly enough to have a cultural connection. To be fair I also don't think that the average mexican know very much about Thailand, Philippines, or Vietnam either.

I actually wanted already comment on that topic, because my experience was thatThais and Philippines are indeed quite different. The Thais (rather buddhist but thats not the only reason) are usually more for themself and act like kind of neutral/with more distance while the Philippines have a kind of catholic culture with much more openess to actively approaching a communication to everyone and more laughting/interaction etc. . Of course over time also the Thais change more and more but when I many years ago visited Thailand the first time (I am German) most were a bit like aliens who act like statists in the background - totally different to Indians, Philippines etc. Thats a reason why I considered them also much more exotic than many other cultures around them and farer away. Another thing I noticed was that many were very accurate/fine tuned with their fingers for instance by covering/packaging things up ...
