Wow that is still amazing even though I already knew that. The UK age is 16 and we generally do do it about that age anyway, although I’m not really sure about the national averages. Sex education really needs to be better here though, and at a very much earlier age. They do give us the information accurately, but definitely not as much as we would entirely like fr what I remember. Our parents aren’t that much better as it’s still very embarrassing to ask them. Thankfully, contrary to popular belief, we actually do get a lot of our accurate information from the Internet and TV thanks to good documentaries. I wouldn’t trust the American education system though as far as you could throw it.

So, people are so much disciplined about such things......here, most of the people touch the hand of their partner only on marriage day....for men, it's around age 30 and for women it's around 25....if their marriage is not got arranged by that age, they will wait for their marital life and stays disciplined as before....that's a regular thing...... I got the perfect answer how to know Korean age..it's not just to add 1 to your international age...... For example If born April 2005 internationally will be 15 years ..but in Korean born April 2005 will be 17 years.... Thats where it gets confusing.... Korean age born April 2018..as Korean is age 1 the moment they are born...so Just count from 2018 to2021.. including the year 2018.... And we get 4 year old ...it's doesn't matter if we reached our birth month ...as soon as we reach new year we add another year...

Places more open about sex will average that out. If not - please do not tell me about you being a religious conservative - because that is the entire essence of the hire birthrate being counterintuitive. Religious conservatives are all supposed to be married BEFORE they have sex - so unless you live in an area where the teenage marriage rate exceeds the teenage birthrate... then spare me your justifications. My personal experience in rural/conservative areas is that they don't use birth control - and then have to get married because they are pregnant. Married at 20 is not particularly young - since you were no longer a teenager. The whole abortion argument is a red herring since most teenage girls in rural areas don't have access to it even if they wanted it - and relatively few teenagers in the US can access it without parental consent. I will also say that in the "liberal" cities it is a lot harder to find a quiet spot to have sex than it is in the "conservative" countryside - so having experienced my teenage years in both those climates - my own personal experience is that rural kids have sex more commonly than city kids - and often at an earlier age.

@@theblackbear211 1. I did wait until marriage, yes. And I will say, depending on personal religious belief, that can play a big role in when people choose to marry. But also, there is a bigger focus on getting married and settling down in the suburbs and country vs. in the city (liberal areas). I don't think teen pregnancy really correlates that much to the age of people marrying anymore. The attitude has shifted. Parents don't want to push their daughters to marry, since they have seen all the divorce in their generation from of those types of marriages. I think you are correct in your assessment that kids in those rural areas also don't use birth control as much as kids in the city. I think that the reasons you listed for kids in those areas not getting abortions are likely true. For example, in Alabama and Kentucky, there is only one abortion clinic in each state. If your parent is not opposed to you having an abortion (which is a big if), they still may not have the time or ability to take you to do it. I don't think that the girls' personal religious beliefs probably play that big of a factor in her not getting the abortion (since if she had a lot of religious conviction, she wouldn't have been "fooling around" in the first place). In my original comment, I don't think I linked the two. I just said that people living in those areas are less likely to terminate. To your final point about "having a quiet place" to sneak off for sex... I think if you want to have sex, you'll find a way to have sex. I've lived in cities and in the country and kids find a way wherever they are. I don't think country kids are having more or less sex.

Okay, so I’m what I consider a “progressive” Indian teen and I had more cultural shocks in 10 minutes and 58 minutes than I had in my whole life. I have visited quite a few countries, but I had no idea that 18 and 19 are considered… “late” there? That would be considered way too early in India, especially since it is before marriage. I do not understand people who say that countries like ours need to “open up” more in these things? Like, is it actually a good thing for teens to be sexually active? Teens and early 20s are an important time in your life and that’s when you decide HOW you are going to help your country progress. It’s your time to determine in what way you will serve the world. I don’t think being sexually active (with or without “protection” which have an efficiency of 95%) and increasing the population does any good to any country, forget already overpopulated countries like India. There are sooo many things developing countries need to work on and sex isn’t one of them! One must indeed normalise such talks and spread some valuable education on the same, without being judgemental towards people who share opinions different from yours (such as those who indulge in pre- marital coitus). But, I don’t think it’s “necessary” or a norm to lose your virginity when you have reached a certain age. It’s not cool. Being successful, atleast on a personal level, is. Teens who have forgone such so-called “pleasurable activities” despite peer pressure have my utmost respect. At this age, we need to create an identity for ourselves, rather than giving in to what the herd thinks or does. This does not imply that I have anything against those with views different from mine.
