I discuss whether you should do a PhD in international business or international relations.
I suggest that you should make this decision yourself, but provide three things that you should do to make this decision easier:
1. See if you can go into the NGOs or not for profits with out getting your doctorate degree.
2. Gather some actual statistics and numbers to help you make your decision on which PhD program you should choose to go into.
3. Go gather some qualitative data by interviewing either PhD students or professors on whether they find the things that they’re studying interesting.

Thankyou Sir For Giving The Insights.Highly Obliged. May God grant you and your team health & happiness. Sir as per my research P.hd in IR - Not good for Corporate Sector but Highly Appreciated in Academia,Research and Federal/ Government Jobs P.hd in IB - Still very excessive but gives good exposure to University & Some Exper/Consultant Jobs in Industry but not great in Government/Public Sector. As per my inference and research on this since I aspire to work for Diplomacy/IR in Federal Government I believe doing P.hd in IR + MBA in IB(Already Have) is More than Enough. However later doing an additional DBA in IB can still be beneficial & still it depends on other factors too but Doing Both P.hd sounds Bulldozing or Overfilling the Beer Jar of Both Academia & Industry be it Public Sector or Corporate. Right now as an Indian Citizen preparing to clear recruitment exam of Indian Foreign Service and if cannot get selected due to Mind-blowing Competition & scarcity of seats will certainly try to meet & live my Great American Dream of working for the oldest democracy in the world and Meet Great Intellects ,& Intellengentsia like you.❤️

Hello sir, I'm currently pursuing Post-graduation in international relations from Christ University, Bangalore in India. I have done my graduation with history major from Delhi University. I want to work at an international organisation like United Nations or for NGOs working in war-torn countries. I am well-versed in English and Hindi. My course is teaching me French and Mandarin but I wanna research/work in the gulf so I am planning to learn Arabic as soon as I can. All my life I have been aspiring and planning to work as an Indian diplomat but just like Gaurav said there's a huge competition and extremely low number of jobs so it is making me think of going to UN not as an Indian representative but as an employee hoping to work for humanity. Now the problem is that it's not easy for me to just give up on my childhood dream without even trying but when I think about spending precious 4-5 years of my 20's on preparing for that exam it kinda scares me because what if I end up just wasting that part of my life. If I do PhD, I am thinking about the US because of the UN headquarters being located there and the presence of world class universities. Now my question is do you think I should try for other countries too? Countries like Italy and Singapore, they are giving fully-funded PhD admissions with a good stipend too. Do you think I should stick to the US and try for getting scholarship there or should I just move to anywhere in the world? Btw this video was really helpful, thankyou for making it!
