Maybe I'm waaayyy off about this, not sure if I remember it correctly, but I actually liked how they handled Alma assaulting Orson (looking past the fact that it had no lasting impact on Orson or the plot whatsoever), because Bree calls it what it is. The thing that pisses me off most is Gabi/John. I was predated on as a teen and it’s soooo sick that nothing happens to an affluent model. I also think that the show started slow, but it got much better through out. There’s a lot of filler and with important parts sprinkled in there.

Characters who didn't die, but I'm still sad that they left and never reappeared: - Angie. I sooo loved her, but she was only there for 1 season. She's one of those really cool, chill, but totally mysterious people. You really want to know all her secrets, but you never will. - Katherine's new/ex husband Adam Mayfair. I really liked him too. - Edie's nephew (forgot his name). He was cute and a great addition to the show. I think he, too, lasted for only 1 season. Right? Characters who I'm totally glad kept reappearing: - Paul Young. You kind of forget about him for a little bit, but then he keeps coming back, and I love it. - Katherine, especially in the very last episode. I was so happy she came back. - Orson. Even after the divorce from Bree, he was back in the last season. We all love him.

While Alejandro’s death was not the best mystery, I feel it is one of my favorite storylines because they handled Gabby’s trauma well. Carlos was his most supportive of her this season. Susan just felt so much remorse which led to the chaos of selling her paintings which was just an obvious confession. I liked how it was a story instead of focusing on a mystery.

Yes, I used to work in the US legal system & we sometimes had homeowners association cases. Not every community has one; it’s more common in upscale places with larger houses/more valuable properties & sometimes nice condominiums or apartments. HOAs can be absolutely insane. People with not enough to do get on the board & annoy their neighbors over rules like how tall your hedges are allowed to be. Also, you have to pay very expensive fees every year to your HOA. The best aspect of HOAs is the way they can crowd source things like insurance & disaster recovery. The worst aspects are how expensive & prejudiced they can be about things like not letting certain kinds of people move in

As an East Asian person I didn’t really like the fact that the three main appearances were: Tanaka (the corrupt business man), Yao Lin (the maid that rightfully hated Gabby but was framed as mean), and Xiao Mei (a slave who was sold by her family, then the later “ungrateful” mistress even though the Solis family clearly exploited her too).

@@l.7584 Why? Should it just be expected all western made shows are prejudiced? Asian Americans exist and they do in ways that aren’t at all reflected by these tired stereotypes. Like Monarch is a western made show and has a cast of Asians, that while not perfect- are not looked down upon.
@ccormore24 күн бұрын
@@chuuu4610 These stereotypes are tired now, but at the time, Desperate Housewives got away with a lot of questionable plotlines and characters. As a young kid from Europe, I was unaffected when watching. But today, I definitely cringe at some moments of this show, and Xiao Mei is definitely included in that. They could have at least shown the stereotypes in a way to explore and overcome them, but they just used them as comedy. I'm pretty sure that if someone from Europe was represented in a negative way on that show, I would have felt a certain way, too. And it did kind of happen. I'm not from Russia, but in season 6, there was this beautiful Russian girl who was a gold digger and wanted to marry Preston. Firstly, Preston is not rich at all - so the connotation is that this girl is from SUCH a terrible background that even a takeaway worker from America is a rich guy in her eyes. It's really nothing new for the American entertainment industry to represent Russians as bad guys all the time, so I'm used to it. But it always irks me a little, and I've never even been to Russia.

Personally, I'd say it's 3>1>5>8>6B>4>7>6A>2 I once read that season 3 was actually plannet to go a lot like season 4 did and Orson truly did kill Alma, but the actor liked being in the show so much that he asked the story to be altered so his character could stay, and by god I really think this was a stroke of genius, not only was the storyline elevated from a massive cliche into a smart subversion, but the characters it gave us (Orson, Gloria and Alma) were some of the best in the show's run. Season 1 is brilliant as well, I really like the misdirection with the whole Lynette story and how she really believed Mary Alice was unhappy and that's why she took her own life, when in reality Mary Alice did everything she could to have a life like Lynette's and it was a disruption to this ideal life that drove her over the edge. For me season 5 works mostly because of Dave and how well he was played, unlike the previous two mysteries I think his was a little bit obvious given how much emphasis was given to Lila and Paige in the first episode, tough the final twist that it was Susan and not Mike who caused the accident was pretty good. I really like season 8 mostly for being a large scale role reversal, in the previous 7 seasons it was the girls doing the scouting and getting tangentially involved in the mysteries, but here it is them who are trying to conceal a major crime that eventually ends up engulfing the whole neighborhood, it was a really smart way of bookending the show, showing us that nobody is above having terrible secrets. I consider season 6 to have two mysteries, the main one that focuses on the Bolens and the one about the Fairview Strangler, and funnily enough I think the strangler storyline is by far and away the better one, Eddie is just so compelling and despite his story feeling rushed I think it was perfectly crafted around the lives of the neighbors and showed an element of suburban life the show rarely focused on (Lower-income people). Season 4 was mostly kept afloat by Katherine, but I found her story all too predictable and melodramatic, it doesn't really help that unlike most other villains Wayne doesn't really have an arc, he's not a crazy person like Gloria or a good person who was driven to a desperate act like Mary Alice, he's just a cut-dry abusive husband, but the mystery gains some points for the Dylan storyline, as it came as a genuine surprise that it was not Wayne but Katherine's fault. Season 7 is good but doesn't have much of a mystery per-se outside of what Paul planned to do to the neighborhood, which I admit was pretty interesting how he got the neighbors to destroy it themselves; the later half of the season is just mostly about his redemption and Felicia's final downfall, which I think was done well enough. I dislike the main mystery of season 6 for many of the same reasons I dislike season 2, mainly that the mystery is just too removed from the lives of the main characters, but I give it extra points because the Bolens are a billion times better and more interesting than the Applewhites, and I also vastly prefer the resolution as Gabby made a much better team with Angie than Bree did with Betty; my main issue with the season 6 mystery is that it is a bit too cartoony and like Wayne Patrick doesn't really get much characterization outside of being a bad guy. And finally, season 2, which I consider the low point of the show, Betty was just not well utilized despite being a very compelling character with interesting parallels to Bree and Susan, and her sons are barely characters in and off themselves; don't get me wrong, I was happy to see everything workout for Betty in the end, as this was a good palate cleanser after how sad the end to Mary Alice's storyline was in the first season, but I was ready for something more dynamic and interesting.

Great comment! For me, there's almost a tie between season 3 and season 1 mysteries but after thinking about it, season 1 is the absolute winner for me: the fact that Mary Alice, our dear narrator and former blackmail victim, ends up being the killer is shocking and amazing for me. Season 3 mystery is almost as good with Monique Polier, a woman who never lived in Wisteria Lane yet caused a commotion there. I liked Alma but I never liked Gloria as a character and her being the killer was less surprising than Mary Alice. My next favorite mystery is season 8 for all the reasons you mentioned. The next one I like is season 6 because of how it develops through Angie's revenge. Dave's mystery was okay but it doesn't stand out after all we had already seen. It's just too late for season 5, even though I really liked the actor who played Dave and the mystery's conclusion. Then, I found season 7 mystery outlandish and got fed up with Paul and Felicia. I had enough of both characters already in season 2, which is also the next one in my ranking. I think the whole premise of the Applewhites was mishandled. It could have been better maybe if Betty had joined the housewives at one point (liking them but still keeping her secrets from them) or if Matthew had befriended Andrew or John but nothing of that happened, only a relationship between Matthew and Danielle but that was too little too late. Finally, the worst mystery for me is season 4 because it was mostly boring (I only liked the fact of the dead and replaced child) and because I never liked Katherine (I only liked her relationship with Bree during and after this season) and her family isn't any better: the Applewhites are far more interesting than Dylan and Adam. 1>3>8>6>5>7>2>4

It would’ve been nice had Alejandro had been involved the whole time. Causing things gabi & carlos didn’t expect. Would’ve made the killing much better/understandable. @@BFFFL1492 I never said that it wasn’t? I said Gabi deserved to move on from it before he tried to hurt her again. I was attacked similarly and it was difficult knowing my attacker was free and allowed to have a family despite what I reported. Gabi never reported it either so she had nothing to hold up her side, which would’ve allowed her to report the subsequent events instead of hiding the body. But then it wouldn’t make for good TV which is what it is.
