Dragon Ball: Gave us the kickstart of what the series would become Dragon Ball Z: Awesome villains, memorable moments, and what most fans saw first Dragon Ball Z Kai: Gave us a quicker version of Z and more close to the original manga series Dragon Ball GT: Greatly hated, but some credit had to be given in creativity. SSJ4 looking really cool and powerful as well as the first time we saw Gogeta especially in SSJ4 since the Fusion Reborn movie as well as their being consequences for the dragon balls being used so much. We also wouldn’t have DB: AF without it. Dragon Ball Super: Brought back the series in modern day with showing us why we loved the series in the first place as well as new forms, villains, opponents, and finally getting Broly to be a canon character. (Personally Broly was my favorite villains along with Cell in the original stuff. And yes I know the old films aren’t cannon.) Along with their suppose to be another DBS film in the works in makes me and probably a lot of other people what could be next

Now I’ll admit the animation was pretty trash during the first Saga (which is pointless because the animation seemed just fine in the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F movies they’re based on), but that’s literally the only complaint I can give. It was kinda ridiculous how Zamasu got mad petty after he realized Goku was stronger than he thought but how are him and Golden Frieza “bad” villains? I was hyped when Frieza returned. The power ups were dope too! Not to mention the main aspect, the fight scenes were AMAZING! And Vegeta was always shafted.

dbz has a lot of characters introduced that people remember and some interesting character changing arcs over time like with videl/mr. satan or vegeta or piccolo and great villains and action but a lot of it feels boring on rewatch...dragonball felt like a more entertaining grounded less kiddy more relateable realistic but still with fantasy elements narrative...its hard to describe but z became a comic book very early on and felt very goofy in a bad way to me while trying to take itself too seriously...theres no irony to anything in dbz despite how insane it all is and while they do more goofy shit like aliens and cellular cyborgs and magic creatures they made the world of db more sterile and realistic which hurt its fun goofy aesthetic in og db where theres animal people walking around with clothes speaking english and everyone is just chill with it and theres dinosaurs and old school villages but also future tech cities and capsules and spacehsips but at the same time then they introduce the other world and kais and all this sterile fantasy crap in a boring way ....lol....the original series always felt like a fun ironic well written adventure with close pals...its just more enjoyable to me because it was rich in irony and good character dynamics/interactions...i remember oolong's character way more than raditz or dodoria or dabura for example...and oolong barely matters after the first arc of db but hes memorable in that 1 arc...a lot of dbz is just corny or flat out filled with too many gruff cliche plain evil villains with no personality...omg nappa for instance..hes so bland...cell was so meh...same for vegeta early on...until namek he was such a boring character for me that i never would of expected his hype and arc to matter to me when he left earth..i felt good riddance....never come back into the show...i liked yamcha's gimick and monster carrot a 1 time villain...and pilaf..and most of the red ribbon army grunts and piccolo...and tenshinhan as villains...they were more memorable hell devilman was a good character..and bacterian

Now that I am in my 30's and having also watched Dragonball Super, I give the original Dragonball series the edge. Still, I would like to change the names of the transformations. Saiyan with god ki is “super saiyan god,” and super saiyan with god ki is “super saiyan god super saiyan” or “super saiyan blue.” Instead I like to call base with god ki “saiyan god,” and super saiyan with god ki “super saiyan god.” In my opinion this is a better way to say it.

Tbh if goku and vegeta end up fighting against the gods and the angels at one point that's what I'd like to see just that saiyans cap is limitless if they train hard enough. Push them into different time lines and different dimensions over time too the shows concept literally has the potential to be an infinantly long show. Though all things come to an end and I think dragon ball should end on a good note as long as they can continue it without butchering the show I say go for it.

I don't know about Z being the highest I really do feel like OG dragonball really hit on character arcs better ( with the exception of Vegeta of course). While this is of course my opinion I do concede that Z had higher highs than OG dragonball with the culmination of the freiza saga and the first SS. But I feel like mid to late OG dragonball really fleshed itself out more than Z.

The Series that moves you... makes you laugh and cry and say wow more than once. The one where you can recognize the theme song just he a few notes... the series that makes you want to watch the next show right away. The epic villain and amazing story plot build up to the climax and cute filler episodes.... the best dbz series needs all this. That's why I think the dbz kai remake is so epic. But original dbz was great too with the saiyan saga. But super was epic as well. I just love everything trunks. Super series with the future trunks saga was hard to beat.

my ranking : 1) DB Z : the series that was many people's first anime, they could have seen an anime or two on TV before but did not care or understand, DBZ glued our eyes to the screen and made us care, the story is not deep, which is a plus, we want an escape from everyday's drama, and just because it is not deep doesn't mean it's bad, it has genius schemes, and dumb luck, it has advanced scientific Sci Fi concepts, and prehistorical and medieval mythology, adventure, military, war, genocide, comedy, raw emotions etc... it has it all, even the Buu saga is the worst in DBZ, not in the whole franchise. 2) DB z Kai : nowadays it is the anime I would suggest to people who did not watch Dragon Ball Z before, the pacing is more suitable for today's standards, and tho each person has a filler or two they like, most fillers are not worth the time, the only reason it does not take 1st place is Nostalgia. 3) DB (Original) : the first half is boring, it starts picking up pace once Tao Pie Pie is introduced, and personally I think Tenshinhan saga was where the shift happened to the action that everyone loves like flying, beam struggles etc... it also respects ALL the Characters, someone like Nam was respected, which can not be seen in other DB series. 4) DB Super : Ultra Instinct, Ultra Instinct Theme, Ultra instinct Meme, the fight between juren and Ultra instinct Goku ... and did I mention Ultra instinct ? jokes aside, it has THE BEST animated fight scenes, but also the worst, and most of its Characters have no stories, Jiren and Hit are just (Strong Guys), and most of its good Ideas are reused from older series, Goku Black = Turles, Kale = Broly, tournament of power and universe 6 tournaments = World Martial arts tournament - Cell Games - Otherworld tournament - Fortune Teller Papa tournament etc..... 5) DB Multiverse : a fan made manga, it would be much higher in the list if it was adapted into an official anime, but sadly it's just a manga. 6) Dragon Ball Abridged : Parody of Dragon Ball Z, sadly most its jokes are puns or other linguistic jokes that can not translate well into other languages, if it weren't for that it would have gotten higher on the list. 7) Dragon Ball Heroes : a crazy Mashup of all Dragon Ball franchises, not canon in any way, shape, or form, but as you said, it is fun. 8) Dragon Ball What If's : mostly found on KZbin, it is mostly spoken stories with some pictures (if Available) to help you understand the story more, some stories would make good series, other are just good fan fiction. 9) Literally Nothing. 10) an old pair of smelly ragged boots. 11) the thing you leave in the toilet. 12) Dragon Ball GT : Take the 1st half of Dragon ball, remove all the good stuff and increase the bad stuff, also add the bad stuff from the Buu Saga, and you have DB GT, it has (SOME) cool designs, but even some fan artists can come with equal or better design ideas, like compare the fan-made SSJ5 to the DBGT ssj4.

You will NEVER understand the true weight and impact of the Saiyan saga. You will NEVER know how mind blowing all the epic reveals and moments in the saiyan saga truly were. All the revelations from Goku having a child to Goku's real name, his epic sacrifice when he teams up with his greatest enemy, The reveal of his older brother, alien origins, the reason Goku is on Earth, history of the saiyan species with some Frieza propaganda thrown in, and I could go on and fucking on. If you watched DB all the way to Z words cannot describe how Earth shattering that Sayain Saga was.

Personally, I don't think the Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue transformations were unnecessary. It kind of brings our heroes' power to the level with the new, powerful antagonists (Beerus, Hit, Zamasu/Goku Black, Jiren, etc.). My List: 1. DBZ- Epic Story and Fights with a Nostalgic Soundtrack and amazing Fillers. 2. DB- Just a weird Boy going on an adventure with a blue hair girl to look for Mythical Balls to summon a green dragon and learning the meaning of Martial Arts. 3. DBZKai- Brings back the King of Shounen however falls short with m ruining character arcs placed before by the first and loses its meaning on why we loved it. 4. DBGT- HOLD ON!!!! Let me explain first why this one place higher than the next one. Even though it butchered the series it still had moments were it felt it tried to relieve moments from the original and Z. Giving us the best SSJ transformation to date. Also tried to send a message on the consequences on relying on the dragon balls to much. 5.DBS- Forgets stories and characters just to give us horrible animations and 1 sided fights. Also the most confusing arcs in the franchise im looking at you Future Arc. Only to stick the landing with the last arc and giving us decent fights in last arc. But they couldn't do my Boy Gohan justice for shit.

This analyses pretty good i think... DBZ is the best among the whole franchise coz its came up with a very good storyline,great rivalry,humour and most of all amazing transformation of heros and Villains...& fillers are damn enjoyable. Overall grew up withness of such amazing anime is the best memory of childhood which is full of nostalgia.. ( i love bruce falconer funimation dbz even more). DBS & DB are 19/20 but overall DBS somehow better than DB. DB is good but it missed something and its consistent attraction. Sometimes after watching Db somewhere its feel like something is missing where dbs fightings are explosives but also it seems like this fights are missing expression intensity which are not as good as dbz but still it manages its rhythm & this why i think dbs is better than db. Dbz kai is no where near dbz and seriously old is gold and so dbz but not dbz kai...and dbgt is kinda sucks.
