We bring you a nice long adventure today! Sit back and relax and enjoy some elephant moments, with beautiful close ups with the two youngest elephants, Khanyisa and Timisa.
Plus listen to Adine asking a certain elephant if Khanyisa can come and sleep with her! We haven’t confirmed this sleeping arrangement but plans are unfolding day after day.

Khanyisa is the most gorgeous and intelligent elephant I didn’t see ever !! where is this little tiny baby !! ! She becomes so tall and is able to do everthing foraging digging swimming !! using her trunk very well ! She amazes me on every next video !! Khanyisa is the true happiness and love among the HERD !! There were a lot of rumbles at the begining of the video It was clear that some of those gentle giants have missed Adine especially little miss Sunshine I love to see the two little Tuskers together Thank you for those beautiful close-ups I always found Timisa so pretty with her laughing eyes It is such a beautiful story that our three younger orphans Kumbura Timisa and Khanyisa have been so well integrated in the Herd that they have become independant young cows who are feeling good about themselves and open to the others This Herd is really fantastic ! This is also due to the outstanding personnalities that make up the Herd wonderful Matriarch Tokwe, best friend Lundi, Gentleman Fishan, big brother Jabulani, dominant bull Sebakwe and the young allomothers Bubi, Limpopo Klasserie, young friend Pisa, mischevious young bulls Mambo & Zindoga and our quiet and independant two deans Somopane and Dame Setombe

I was curious where she'd sleep once she graduates. Tokwe, Fishan and the girls seems to be the safest bet? Khanyisa has a wonderful relationship with Lundi and Jabu but we've all seen how rowdy Mambo can get.

Hi Adine and all at HERD 😊 I think Khanyisa was born curious and confident although when she was a baby I would have used the words Precocious and cheeky LOL 😂 I remember videos of her leading the way to the dam when she was so tiny 😍 I'm almost sad to see her growing up. I missed the first year and a half of Khanyisa's story but i still sob my heart out for what she's been through and so happy to see how far this brave little baby has come. 💖💖💖 I am so happy that she is going to sleep with her family where she will also be well taken care of.... but goodness it's hard to know she won't be in the nursery anymore with her Carer, Lammie, Nungu and sweet potatoe treats.

On the photo with Timisa and Khanyisa sharing Trunk to Trunk, was Priceless as many others. When Towke shared her branch with Khanysa, as the little one took it out of her mouth, was memorable. When Khanyisa was younger, I can remember she used to nudge Timisa all the time and Timi just let her continue to nudge. Someone called her a little pest and a mosquito (Lol) . I could go on forever, especially the care she received, when she first arrived. I realty didn't think she was going to make it. Dr Rogers was always there at a split second with his Techs. The Carers were all so giving. Now Khanyisa's Mama Adine, is a story in itself. She adopted Khanyisa as her own. We are all going to be SAD when the Big move comes. I believe she will start with Bubi, Timi, and Fishan, and switch off to Towke and Kumbura, until she is comfortable. For all we know, she may want to return to the Nursery with Stavros, Herman, Khensani, Lammie, the other sheep, and last but not least, her Human Mama Adine. I will truly miss all the videos at the Nursery. ❤️❤️❤️🐘🐘🐘🐑🐑🐑🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🧎‍♀️

I’m hoping she will go with Lundi, Mambo and Jabulani. Jabulani was the first elephant to welcome her and of course her adoptive mom is Lundi. So that would be perfect for her. Plus I am hoping they will move Kumbura from Tokwe’s area to Lundi’s since they are bonding so beautifully out in the field. That would truly be a wonderful sleeping group. She would feel so safe with her adoptive mom, big Jabulani and her most devoted allomother!

According to Adine's explanations and the videos we have seen, the herd sleeps in small groups with at least one bull in each group, to prevent dominance and aggression among the bulls. They are grouped by temperament and comfort with each other. Seems like Adine is considering having Khanyisa sleep with Tokwe in her group. Just observing Tokwe's patience with our little Braveheart and the fact that Tokwe is the matriarch, Khany isa could learn so much from her.

These videos bring so much joy to my heart; I start off watching them and thinking of all the comments I want to say and then, so many cute things happen, I forget what I wanted to say. Love the way Khanyisa comes running to see Adine. Love her two hind legs stuck together as Adine rubs her and talks to her. Love the emotion in Adine’s voice as she talks to each one and they all respond. Love the way the carers take care of Adine; telling each Ellie ‘Easy’ as she approaches them. Do tusks, like teeth, come in different types of strength and brittleness as teeth do? Can the way the way the ivory is deposited differ depending on health and/or lack or abundance of nutrients during certain stages of life? Would those that were orphaned young, and did not have a mother nursing them develop the first emerging tusks, that are eventually the furthest from them which maybe weaker or more brittle and break more easily than expected during social play and challenges? Or is it common that the tusks break off like this to stay shorter than in Asian elephants that are often seen with very long tusks that have grown and stayed with them most of their lives? What are the resources identified for the elephant to develop and grown strong tursk structures as well as hard teething that stand up well to the grinding the molars have to do. I have no idea if it is anything like horned cattle who start breaking horns when challenging each other or just head butting that lets us know that their environment is short on certain minerals so that we have to get mineral blocks into their environment to make up what is lacking in the soil in the area they graze.
