@J-STX54695 ай бұрын
I see why EAU Rouge got changed. There was very little room for error and the turn was really sharp at the end. Some of the newer F1 cars from the '80s and '90s either couldn't take it flat out, or lost control when attempting to do so. Now it is wider with more tarmac for racers to recover from going off track, and the turn is a little bit easier to take with more room for error.

For anyone wondering, in basic terms; none of these 80s or even the mid 90s cars were able to check 300+ km/h with their setups for Spa with those kinds of accelerations, so our buddy here tries to lenghten the video by changing the setups for these cars by giving them a low downforce setup which basically manipulates the nature of the car's handling in a bad way.

I am a bit puzzled by the physics model (or maybe the setup of the cars?). All those that preceded the first one that made it past it unscathed understeered into the outside of the eau rouge. I'm inclined to think most of them would lose the backend and spin out. But maybe I'm wrong.

Just depends on the balance of the car.
@giosimfra642 ай бұрын
@@TC2290-wh5cb of course it does, but an incredibly understeer biased race car is basically an oxymoron. There are already not too many drivers who would prefer a dull front end to a sharp one, let alone drivers who would want a car that will never turn. I've owned (I still have one) 2 AWD cars which are front weight biased and -as all AWD cars- tend to be understeering and I bet if I drove one up that hill it would not do that so badly.
