Which Festool battery charger is the fastest? Airstream Vs Rapid

I have two of the TCL 6 chargers and they make an awful high pitch noise when they are just plugged in and not charging anything. Does yours do this as well? Perhaps there might be a difference in the US 120v version? I now have them on a power strip so I can switch them off when I'm not using them. Odd... my DeWalt chargers are silent.

Yes mine makes the same noise, it’s meant to tell you it’s changing and it’s ready, but the airstream is silent

I have two of each. Reach for the sc8 most of the time. Also have a duo charger that came with a set. Not used yet. Like you say plug it in tells you how long have a cuppa and done👍

My HKC saw eats batteries, I’m so happy I have the Airsteam. Sometimes I need 3 batteries throughout the day, plus if I’m using the Carvex as well, the Airsteam charges a battery before the next battery runs out. 👍🏻😊

Yes definitely out on job site the sca 8 is a massive difference when powering through batteries and are hot. I have both and when hot there is a huge difference in charging times. There is nothing wrong with 6 if you are in workshop or have lots of batteries on site. the fan in the 8 does cool battery down to allow faster charge time. The 6 seems to trickle charge until battery is cool enough to charge a full pace.

Nice to get feedback from someone using these on site. I just wish Festool would pull there fingers out and give us more information on things like this. Nice post 👍🏽

i thought the airstream was charching with 8 amps and the Rapid with 6 amps regardless if the battery is cold or not ( i could be wrong )

Airstream says that the product supports Festools active cooling technology. You can have the Airstream chargers with 8 amps and 16 amps and the Airstream batteries with 4.0, 5.0, 5.2, 6.2 and 8.0 Ah. (The 5.2 and 6.2 are from the previous generation.)
