Ryan from MACkite introduces the Axis Foil Drive Board and the Omen Flux Foil Board, highlighting their design and performance features. Both boards are designed longer and narrower than traditional wing foil boards, which improves efficiency and makes it easier to get up on foil. The Axis Foil Drive Board measures 5'8" long, 20" wide, and has a volume of 70L, while the Omen Flux is 5'7" long, 22" wide, and has a volume of 72L.
The Axis board, made of fiberglass, features a longer and wider flat section that enhances efficiency and ease of popping up. The Omen Flux, constructed from carbon fiber, has a beveled bottom contour and a wider tail section, which helps in rough and choppy conditions and provides better stability when starting on the board. Both boards excel in transmitting the Bluetooth signal from the controller due to their larger size, which helps keep the nose out of the water.
In terms of performance, the Axis board is more efficient and easier to get up on foil, particularly in small conditions, due to its narrower design and flatter section. The Omen Flux, although slightly less efficient, handles rough conditions better and performs well as a wing foil board, making it versatile for both winging and foil driving.
The Axis Foil Drive Board is ideal for those focused solely on foil driving, whether prone foil driving or wake surfing, offering higher performance in small conditions. The Omen Flux, on the other hand, is suitable for those looking to combine winging with foil driving, as it performs well in both disciplines, making it a versatile choice for a mixed-use quiver.

Thanks for keeping up with reviews on foil drive boards as FD is it's own thing. I'm 110kg and the Omen Flux 5'2- 60L -9lbs and the Jimmy Lewis Super Fly 5'8 - 52L-8lbs are my goto boards for FD. The signal connectivity is excellent on both , so good I don't need to put foam in the track box. I can also duck dive both of these boards with no problem, no signal loss riding board fully submerged with a remote on the deck of the board. This is a must for me when riding swell in the ocean. Might be something to add to you boards reviews, just a thought.

The omen is made by appletree which makes it water proof if it gets dinged. I'm still riding my 41.5l appletree and it has more holes and dings than you can imagine and it is watertight and works amazing. Comparing the appletree to the axis is like comparing a rolls Royce to a prius

I’m a big guy at 100kg and I got the Omen 60L up with the FD Assist Plus. The 84L is even easier.

Thank you for the comparison. I would love to know your thoughts on using Axis foildrive board for winging. I have the 50L board but found it too small for winging. I have not tested the 70L yet.

Thanks Ryan!! Amazing review it's exactly what I've been dying to know. One thought, it would be sweet to add the AFS 5'8 to the review! I ordered my AFS and amped on it. would love to see how it compares! maybe in the wing comparison!? thanks as always helping us navigate this rapidly evolving sport!! you all are the best!

Wow, the AFS Whitebird has a killer shape. Please let us know how it rides!

@@nice2care The Whitebird works amazing for foil drive as well. If it has a downside it's that the bulbous nose is a little less comfortable to lay on when driving prone. -Tucker

@Twizz1979 Have you been on your AFS 5'8 yet? I really want to how it rides. Does it feel big and bulky like a downwind board? or is it nimble enough for fast turns? What is the thickness of the board at the deck area. My Armstrong 7'2 downwind board is to thick and I don't feel connected to the foil when I ride it. Thank you.

@@nice2care All of the Whitebird boards feel much more in tune with the foil with that deep scoop deck. Especially on the 5'8, it's very surfy. -Tucker

@@MACkiteboarding Thank you Tucker! I just placed an order for the 5'8. I guess there is no such thing as too many boards 😄

I just purchased the Omen Flux 72 for winging. I'm a beginner/intermediate with lofty goals of winging the 72. With 12 years of kite foiling I'm up and jibing with a few footswitches, riding all directions. The exhausting aspect of course is the waterstart and pump. Does a Foil Drive assist winging in light conditions?

Yes, a FD can be used in light winds when you need more speed to get on plane and liftoff. It does add another layer of complexity but we've found it works best to hold the remote in your dominant hand using your thumb and forefinger on the remote while the other fingers hold the wing. -Tucker
