1:48 trust me, take the tip up front whenever you can and don't bank on "customer service" to generate tips from customers. When I used to deliver pizza you'd always get customers that would stiff you on a tip no matter how hard you tried to provide good customer service. You could get there super quick and be very polite and they still wouldn't tip you. Half of them would be regular customers and would talk to you like you're their old pal and they still wouldn't tip. I wouldn't take any run on these apps that wasn't already paying me what I'd already be happy making on the run.

Really interesting that people could be regulars and STILL not tip. I started working as a bartender this term and since then have become far more conscientious of giving good tips. I think it's easy to forget when you don't work in food service how important those tips are and how hard people work for them. Thanks for the comment!

I already had to learn this the hard way. When I was a noob uber eats delivery driver I would accept every single offer. Well, I gotten an offer for 4$ to deliver 10 miles to this one rich guy (big house and fancy equipment) he texts me out of no where while I'm driving to him that he'll give me a tip after I deliver to him. When I arrive he talks to me through his camera saying that he will tip me after the delivery (I never asked for the tip but I was kinda excited to hear that) after I left I got no tip. That guy probably knows how the delivery app works so he's probably used to scamming the drivers

I’ve done DD & postmates. I agree that postmates makes the most money you just have to know which one orders to take, DD has too many $3-$4 orders and in order to maintain your top dasher status you have to have 70% acceptance rate at the end of the month. Postmates has the most flexibility and highest earning potential if you play it right imo

Can you explain more on what you mean by if you play it right?
@jaym4866
@jaym4866 3 жыл бұрын
@@demidemi00 sure. If you’ve done postmates you understand that some orders pay out more. Work smarter by only taking orders that pay more or typically tip better. Take the orders and examine if it’s an expensive order also. The higher price of the order typically means a higher tip. Postmates won’t give you the tip prior to taking the order so it comes with experience and knowing which places have higher tipping customers

This why these delivery services should have a $10-$15 minimum order fee from the menu of a restaurant in order for them to be put on the app and picked up by drivers! That would save drivers a lot of grief! Just like with a credit/debit card at some businesses where they have a minimum $5 charge if the said total doesn't exceed the $5 minimum. It's basically rounded up to $5. Say the order total is $3.50, then a fee of $1.50 will be added to the order. If the order is $5.05 then there is no fee added!

I watched your video and my opinion is going to be on a few things but I will stay on what you mentioned in the video. I honestly think grubhub is the best service. The customer service is fast. Orders almost always pay $5.00 and up and most others will pay you the bare minimum $2.50. Also while having that and ubereats running simultaneously grubhub picks up more orders ( in my city). Also doing food delivery I hate when certain restaurants make me use the drive thru cuz I’m on a bike. Sometimes a order will already be ready and if I skip the line the restaurant will still insist I wait. Speaking of I had to buy a drink carrier bag for drinks because most restaurants won’t seal their drinks or just give us cans or bottled beverages because i definitely spilled a lot of my drinks in my experience or it’s hit and miss when I arrive at the customer.

I've only done 5 deliveries with Grubhub compared to about 200 with DoorDash. One thing I've noticed with GH is they will ask you if you want to accept an offer even if you're already en route to a customer's house. DD won't send you anything until AFTER a delivery is complete. I've also noticed that GH has really spread me out distance wise while DD will tend to keep me pretty close to where I'm actually located. In my area they seem to be available pretty evenly for restaurants, so 1 isn't more widely available then the other. From what I can tell, GH will definitely put more miles on your car.

Door Dash likes to lump a good delivery with a far away, low pay, low or no tip delivery, which is very frustrating. They also put a timer on accepting the order, then rank you with an acceptance rate. This timer does not give you ample time to properly analyze the profitability. If you do not accept an order they can put you on pause or can even end your delivery session. The no contact delivery means that they can stiff you on the tip and not have to face you. I live in a more rural area and they can send you on a very long delivery, which in a city you could earn money on your way back but being out in a place that does not have restaurant options leaves you paying for there and back. Many times it will equate to lots of gas, perhaps no tip and less than minimum wage earnings. Consequently, the consistency of the money earned per trip is wildly different. That said, there are ways to try to maximize your earnings.

I do DD and UE. I much prefer UE. 1. It is MUCH more stable. Doordash crashing at the most inopportune time is common. 2. It is much better at notifying the driver: a simple chime and a flash of the offer. Doordash, however, has a chime, a notification AND a text message. Granted you can just block the number to stop the unnecessary text message, why do we have to do that? 3. Doordash requires scheduling and they clock you. 4. Uber Eats has a much more streamlined way of declining an order: just push X. Doordash, on the other hand, requires you to put in your reason (as if simply not wanting to do the order isn't good enough) AND go through a confirmation page showing what your acceptance rate will drop to.

Postmates Love's it's workforce by simply reducing pay, less deliveries, not paying when orders are cancelled or restaurant is not open, long wait time in-between accepting orders, putting couriers/driver's in danger of contracting coronavirus delivering alcoholic beverages because you gotta scan the i.d. or enter it manually 👀. I would sell my stocks too if I knew I could not underpay and fool my contractor's with bogus bonuses anymore. Instead I would sell when stocks are at their highest and to a competitor willing to buy. Ubereats will now fire a vast majority of Postmates driver's and courier's due to bogus background check by checker which is used by a majority of delivery platforms. Any accidents within the last few years will disqualify you automatically and don't even think about appealing the decision because you are wasting your time 😣

@@thecollegehustle2402 during a pandemic, I believe they should all include a bonus per delivery. If that was the practice of many of these gig jobs then they would become big like Amazon, and have a good workforce with a couple disgruntled people but hey that's business. 2.65 billion dollars is what Postmates sold out for, while I believe ubereats is well into the 30-50 billion dollar range and still making tons of money.

I don’t like how Postmates and Uber eats make the driver use a real photo and share their real name with the customer. Privacy and safety is my main concern as a delivery driver. I currently work for Favor (a Texas based company) which allows the driver to create their own name and photo. Grubhub put me on hiring waitlist. Not sure yet how they protect drivers indentity/ privacy. We’ll see what happens with Doordash. I’ve been accepted and waiting for my card. Not sure yet how much driver real personal info they share with customer. Downsides of Favor: Driver only finds out after delivery how much they made (could be as low as $4) and usually the driver has to order the food THEN go pick it up which takes way longer than just going to pick it up (like with all the other delivery services) Upsides: good live text support, flexible and friendly, always on drivers side. Work anytime. Protects privacy/ identity of driver. Customer can choose to tip before or after. Seeing where you’re going before accepting. You just don’t know how long it’s going to take or what you’ll make til after.

I recently started delivering for DD only 400 deliveries so far , One thing that I experienced with DD And I don’t agree with you is the customer support , i never use that live chat, I call and most of the time in less than 5 mins issue is resolved, I tried post mates but the issue that you did not say is they don’t show you how many miles you drive andshow much you get. Thanks

Download stride app to track your miles using postmates it calculates your miles and how much you save in taxes and connects it with your bank account as well and you can’t tax things in your transactions like car washes, tires, repairs etc...

I think hiring is based on the population of the city you are in and how many drivers are needed to cover that aera. I just got off the wait list for doordash after being on it for 10 months. I live in a smaller city. I am still on the wait list for instacart and I had signed up at the same time as doordash.

I noticed that Grubhub doesn't give you the total distance (miles) of a delivery just like Doordash does before accepting an order. With Grubhub, you never know where ure going.

@@thecollegehustle2402 I have a guy who comes by our restaurant regularly and he does both UberEats and DoorDash. I find the idea of working for two rival companies at the same time to pretty funny, but it seems like he makes some serious bank doing it! I imagine you don't want to run both apps at the same time, but if one app doesn't seem to be picking up deliveries, another other app may be cutting into that share of the market so you can easily boot up that one instead and start doing deliveries, meaning there are fewer moments where you're sitting and waiting for orders to pop up.

You can! I worked UE, DD & Postmates tonight. The problem to keep in mind is that Postmate’s distances are more unpredictable than the other two. So you have to know when to fold and give up the order. Otherwise somebody may get their stuff alittle too late. Also, I finally got scheduled for DD, and working the other apps at the same time can be difficult b/c you’re expected to pick up and drop off by a certain time under DD

Cool video, but I have a couple of comments: 1. You should put some screens shots of what you are talking each time when referring to specific companies 2. Postmates is one of the worse because they are not transparent at all when it comes to given drivers information of the time, miles or pay of each order

Yeah I can’t say it’s better to get tipped after, no matter how great you are there will always be cheap people, and no one wants to work for $3. The other apps like doordash allow people to increase your tip if you were good, so the argument of wanting to see your service pay off makes no sense here.

It's interesting how working for the company is different from being a customer of the company. According to this video Postmates is the best to work for but according to another video Postmates is the worst to be a customer of because of the bad service. On the flip side according to that same video Uber eats was the best/was a good service service to be a customer of but according to this video Uber eats is the worst service to work for I have no idea if how the company does things affects service or not though so maybe in some places Postmates has the best service and Uber eats has the worst, it's just in the video I watched Uber eats had the best/better service as opposed to Postmates

Uber's customer service for drivers is 89% TERRIBLE, in my experience. That said, I have had 5 or 6 really good experiences, too. Usually, though, I end up having to wait on hold for 1-3 HOURS each time the app has an issue that I can't solve on my own. As an INFJ Personality Type, I think it's safe to say that I'm far from the 'Karen' type of person......but the last half a dozen times I've had experiences with Uber "Support", I literally HAD to be a b*tch in order to get them to ACTUALLY HELP me. Whenever I'm nice to them, they put me on hold indefinitely, pass me around from dept to dept (I'm talking AT LEAST 6-7 diff depts on EACH call), &/or hang up on me. I absolutely HATE having to get mean in order to be taken seriously, but (in my experience) Uber Support SIMPLY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING besides give you the run-around if you don't make yourself a thorn in their side that they're eager to get rid of. These days, I have to brace myself before calling & just immediately ask to speak to a Supervisor straight away. Sadly, the Supervisors have quite literally been THE ONLY ONES who ever ACTUALLY helped get an app issue of any kind resolved.

Uber eats always lies about the amount you’ll receive. You’ll see a price for a delivery, then you accept and finish the delivery, then you see a much lower rate than when you accepted the delivery

It figures..I decided NOT to drive w/ them when I went to create an account and they labeled my profile as someone who didn’t have a COVD 19 tracing app in my phone!! Tn at means their “permissions and other permissions” KNOW what other apps you have on it device (others may too but tn arts not the point) the point is that they blacklist you in their own way by “marking” you as not having it. It’s invasive to others who are nearby on their devices and I do t trust them due to various reasons (see Dr. Buttar online) et al
