Let me know if you're interested in hearing my thoughts and i'll update this comment! Much love to the Octane Street Fam and Crew Members for all your support 👊

I am a retired teacher. I have been using UberEats and Grubhub full time. I make about $1100 a week. This is a 5 hour morning/lunch shift. I take a three hour break. Then work 3 hours in the evening. Basically an 8-9 hour day. Not easy some days, but pays the bills.

I have been with Uber 4 years and I decide what orders I am going to accept, lately I have been taking nothing under $9.00 per trip and 4-5 miles, I do less trips but more money and also I seem to be putting gas in the car less. I hope this helps, stay safe.

Some friendly words of advice, we all start somewhere! I've been doing uber eats part time for 250 deliveries or so and have earned $3100 gross. Im also in Ontario. You just have to know your area, know your timing, and try and interact with customers as often as possible and be just yourself and a cheerful/friendly vibe. For better paying orders, give yourself a thermal bag and sign up for the shop and pay orders. The thermal bag, once you confirm it with Uber, will give you bwttwr paying orders more often! Also, being new, tk the scenes with Uber pro/green after about 25-50 completed delivery's, Uber will give you a custom promotion for extra $$$. Just dont let up easy, try and try again, keep yourself busy, and earn that $!

Wow, thanks for sharing such value with myself and my viewers! During this 'experiment' I conducted around 25 deliveries so 1/10th of your total but made much less than 1/10th of your gross haha. Your comment really shows that there are in fact tricks to this 'trade', and that there are many ways couriers can increase their chances of success on the platform. It makes sense now why I see almost all couriers using the thermal bags! I definitely want to try a part 2 of this experiment using a more economical vehicle, and this time utilizing some of the tips yourself and others have left in the comments. Very curious to see what a more educated attempt could look like! I appreciate your time and positivity, and wish you the best moving forward 👊

It’s all area dependent honestly, you need to find a power strip of food meaning you find an area of maybe 3 miles long that’s loaded with food and usually you’ll have the best luck. Also more higher end areas of your town where homes go for a million+ usually those are the most lazy and want their food delivered with the best tips

late nights are good, the fairs are low but you keep it moving doing back to back to back to back pickups and drop offs, you’re wasting time cherry picking payouts, peak hours suck because restaurants have a hard time keeping up with demand, i’d rather be have good interaction with cashiers and customers at night than standing in a crowed place smelling sweat and awkwardness of everyone trying to avoid eye contact

Don’t follow hot spots! Stay in the vicinity of popular restaurants but not where lots of other drivers are sitting. Try finding a area where few(2) or none are sitting. Sit and wait for the better offers. Keep in mind, customers can change/take back their tip. Don’t take orders requiring a lot of drive time/miles.

My downtown is crazy because its near all the rich people the downside is there is horrible parking. Part of me wants to see if someone wants to partner with me they drive drop me off at restaurant I get food and they pick me up. When I do work downtown i get back to back orders to like mansions but I waste so much time parking miles away to walk to restaurant or worse apartments with only street parking.

I did this experiment in Malibu, Calabasas and Agoura Hills here in northern Los Angeles. I had basically the same experience. It worked out to like $10/hr and even less when I considered the gas I used! It felt like so much work for $10/hr and all the wear and tear on my car (2019 BMW 440i). I had planned that if it seemed to be profitable, I would consider getting a used Hyundai Elantra or similar 4 cylinder. I also tried DoorDash and other apps and they all gave the same notice that you received. Even if I had the absolute most efficient car, I couldn’t imagine making any money at all. I only tried for 2 days because by the end of day 2 I just couldn’t see it being anything good. Especially in Malibu, CA😓

@@OctaneStreet I was wondering the same thing as you, maybe those who have been driving longer or having a “higher status” could be making more money? Or getting better payouts. I deliver a cheeseburger to passages, Malibu’s premier drug rehab. Someone had some munchies🤣🤣 My driving time was only a few hours because both days I started the experiment after my 9-5 hoping to make extra income at night and assuming dinner time would be the most profitable time to drive. The same way KZbin suggested your video to me today, I had been recommended videos and those people seemed to be making good money for Uber Eats. I have also heard that driving passengers is much more profitable but I definitely don’t want people banging up my car lol

@OctaneStreet I started in 1985 at Domino's Pizza, then pretty much the only real player in the market. At 18 years old, working 45-50 hours a week, I was making about $450 per week during the off season here in Florida, and about $200 more during the actual season. That was good money back when premium fuel was just about to scrape one dollar per gallon. Over the years, more places (still mostly pizza) got into the market, making it a bit harder to make quite as much. In addition, they all (including Domino's) added a lot of crap to their menus, further complicating the job. By 2007 or so, I was down to one night a week, and even that was more out of nostalgia and helping an old boss than out of necessity. By then, we were working a system that had us on minimum wage while in the store, and the lower "tip-credit" wage when on the road. Prior to then, we'd always been on regular minimum wage because we were expected to work in the store between runs. I did UberEats for a while in 2021 around my full-time job. It was okay, but never as fast-paced as any Domino's I had ever been in (though, admittedly, I had worked only the busiest nights the last several years.) Places like Domino's seem to still stay steady, and pizza delivery is still prevalent here in southern Florida, along with sandwich places like Jimmy-Johns. When I log onto UE now, I get crap offers and don't stay on long at all, pretty much just seeing what's out there. I haven't delivered an order since maybe last summer, and that was like two or three on one day only probably the whole year.

I do Uber Eats Deliveries in the Mississauga/Brampton/Oakville/Milton area and one thing I can tell you is the hotspot areas aren’t always guaranteed money. I generally look at the Earning Trends map to pinpoint and see what times and areas are good. Just because it’s orange or red doesn’t always mean it’s the best area to be for deliveries. There are days where I absolutely make $80-100 in 4 hours, however some will be dead and slow. On the slower days I recommend accepting most offers as it helps with your acceptance rate. The busier/profitable days you can decide on whether you want to take all offers or not.

Damn, appreciate you sharing these tips with myself and other viewers. If I had done this longer I feel like I would have started to look into the earnings trend map in more detail but just hadn't gotten that far. It's crazy to think though that there are days where you're pulling $80+ in 4 hrs, even if it's few and far in between. Thanks again, and best of luck with your future deliveries!

@@OctaneStreetI did deliveries in London (my college location) and it’s a lot more efficient because the city boundary was bunched up more closer; therefore, less mileage/gas money to spend. The GTA may be “hot” for deliveries due to population but the delivery times and mileage is greater. You have to experiment with Uber Eats for a few weeks to figure out efficient ways to deliver. Also, be patient with waiting for delivery offers lol I used to accept everything and then I realized I should’ve waited for a better offer.

I want to sign up for Uber Eats but don’t want to make the same mistake. So does Uber Eats ask for my physical address? Or can I just put the zip I want to work at? I had the same issue trying to sign up for Door Dash as well as Skip the Dishes. I can't quite remember if Uber Eats requires your physical address since I created my account years ago but had only actually used it at the time of this video. That is very interesting! I always tought that those services like Uber Eat, are bad for people doing it, as the depreciation of their car far outweight any profit. Your experiment is very interesting. 16h36minutes online, earned 123.28$, costed approx. 108$ of gas => net earning of 15.28$ (car depreciation not included). That is approx. 0.92$/h, BEFORE car deprecitation. Average numbers suggest gas fuel is (very roughly) 1/3 of the entire cost of running a car. 108$ of gas means your approx. entire car operating cost for this run was 324$. You earned 123.28$ => You thus lost 324-123.28=200.72$ in the end. Also knowing you spent 16.5h of your life doing this, you basically had a NEGATIVE salary of -12.16$ per hour, for 16 hours.
@OctaneStreet
@OctaneStreet Ай бұрын
The depreciation of your vehicle aspect alone is why I'd never seriously try UberEats in my Mustang. One of the notes I wanted to add to this video (if it weren't already so long) is that I feel like you have to be very okay with putting intense mileage and wear/tear on your vehicle to do UberEats. Even if it made me a decent profit, I'd still try to find something else to do because I care about my vehicle too much haha. If you have an old reliable Honda or hybrid that's already lost most of its value, then sure this can be pretty good! I love that you crunched some of the numbers I shared at the end of the video. Absolutely hilarious that I was losing in essence $12.16/hr for this video! Now if that doesn't earn your subscription to the channel, what does? 🤔Hahaha I had to.

Besides being in the downtown core, which would be way too taxing for my car, I don't think so. I'm very curious if new members to the platform just have lower priority on orders until they rank up doing these infrequent jobs. There was two moments throughout the 5 days where I had 3 back-to-back-to-back orders and it kept me properly busy for a good hour. Those are the moments when the platform makes sense, but that was for 1hr over the span of 16hrs. I'm hoping more experienced drivers watch this and chime in with more information!
