I microwave first to get the inside cooked, then throw it into a small oven to crisp the top.. either way banquet and Swanson's are good. I never tried the other one

You don't mention that swanson chicken pot pie use to have solid unadulterated white chicken in the past but like all mass produced low end priced meals decided to change to adulterated mechanically separated chicken roll. Banquet came to the party late and always had chicken roll. Marie Callender always had solid unadulterated white chicken. Who cares whether you clumsily dropped parts of the pie crust on the floor. As a food critique you should know the difference between solid chicken and mechanically separated and combined chicken roll which can also be referred to as a chicken pattie. The millennial generation are just plain simpletons.

I like the banquet, I think the Marie gravy is not so good and the veggies and chicken is tuff, and too much crust making it dry without enough gravy. Overall I rather have 2-3 banquets at the price

Marie Calendar pot pies are fantastic but MUST be cooked in the oven. NOT the microwave. It takes a whole lot longer (up to an hour in the oven), but the crust and ingredients come out so much better out of the oven.

Banquet pot pies are not that bad. I've seen him on sale at like $0.79, which is a total steal. That I think too is that they also make fruit pies that are the same price. So you can get apple, cherry, and peach pie for the same price. And they are really good.

Greg, wanted to know if youve ever tried what I believe is a discontinued item. Pepperidge Farm used to make a pot pie filled with chili a cornbread crust. It could easily feed 2 people. So good. The only place I ever found it was at a Super Walmart several years ago. Definutely worth trying if it's still around.

I did this same thing. Stuck with banquet mostly because I like the taste of the crust. My banquet pie very rarely looks like his. I microwave the banquet 4 minutes and then air fry on 385 baking setting 3 to 4 minutes. Perfect

if you take it out of the paper pan, and spray it with Pam and add a pat of butter and put the frozen pie back in it before cooking it makes the bottom of the crust better and not soggy and undercooked

Also...watch the calories...the calories listed on the back of Calenders in bold print? Yeah, thats only for HALF the pot pie...so you'd be eating about 1000 calories if you ate the whole pot pie. I dont know the calories of the others.

I like the mechanically separated chicken in the cheaper pies along with the old musty stale vegetables. It gives it that old world feel like I just walked into a tavern for a pint and a bite to eat. The best part come the next day when you discover some of the sauce still left in the mustache. It's a bonus treat.

Costco has the best pot pie i have ever had in my life! It is kinda pricey @ 17.99 but will fill four adults and will still have leftovers. Also it has over 1.5 lbs of pure white chicken breast meat....YUMMY!

I never microwave pot pies. I love Marie Callender's even over Boston Market which I found to be meh. I love the crust , I brown it to perfection, even the bottom. It's delicious, I'm not going to argue about less than $3 for a meal.

I really miss Swanson Pot Pies.. nothing else tasted good microwaved. One day they got pulled off the shelf everywhere. This was like 5-7 years ago. I found that Pinnacle Foods acquired Swanson and discontinued it for their Hungry Man line. So, the pot pie should live on in Hungry Man products, but I've never found it anywhere in the major Mid-West grocery chains. I asked the company and they said the nearest place was some small outlet store halfway up Michigan. I guess nobody had love for the Swanson Pot Pies. :(

I grew up eating Swanson chicken pot pies, mom would get them for us when we were kids for like $0.25 a piece. What a deal. Matter of fact I just finished one for lunch today. I do love the feeling that it comes with. The crust I can put up with it it's okay. I like to stir it all up together and then eat it. 😊

I totally agree! The Marie Callender's is as good as the local grocery store prepared foods and KFC's. We refuse to use microwave oven however. I have used the American Sun Oven with excellent results, but the Phillips Air Fryer is simply amazing and took about the same time as the microwave oven. We buy ours in bulk at Sams Club.

What the hell frozen food have you eaten that's better tasting than a Marie Calendar's pot pie? If it wasn't for the transfats, I'd go stock up on those. There are very few things in the freezer section that beat it in terms of taste. Well, except those $10 type family-sized meals, but for that price, you could just make Alfredo linguine with meat balls, chives, pepper, a dash of chili powder and extensive Parmesan coverage.

The price on a freezer pot pie is VITAL! Back in the '80s, I bought lots of Swanson beef, turkey, and chicken pot pies because they cost twenty-five cents apiece and tasted... OK. They came on a metal bowl and cooked in the oven for 45 minutes or so. I would go occasionally to the Marie Callendar's restaurant in San Jose, Ca. and their turkey pot pies were fantastic.
