Prabhupad's Translation seems misguided from the actual meaning, It doesn't explain karma yog well, it defines words as krishna conciousness wherever it can, choose wisely. Wrong knowledge is even worse than 0 knowledge.

Adi Shankaracharya was the first one to give commentary on Bhagavat Geeta and popularize it, plainly stating that Advaita philosophy means everything is light is so wrong as the philosophy goes very deep and explains so many things. Even all Upanishads eg. Mandukya, Katha, Isa etc. point towards the same things, and BG is supposed to be the 'Saar' of Upanishads.

Actually I have read ISCON geetha but the translation is shown only in his way....For eg according to prabhupada Sri krishna is the supreme(I agree sree krishna is the supreme but Shiva is the supreme of supreme according to krishna and vedas) and I do not believe Krishna last Avatar according to ISCON.

If we follow the word to word meanings as per the standard Sanskrit dictionaries, the word meanings and translations, follow very precisely the same as given this Gita, thus it is quite safe to read this Gita. And as you say Lord Shiva is great, that is true, He is so magnanimous that he drank the poison for the betterment of the entire world, he had taken the most difficult duties in this world. And if we analyse scriptures we find, in Ramayan Lord Shiva saying to Mother Paravati "राम रामेति रामेति, रमे रामे मनोरमे । सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं, रामनाम वरानने ॥" in this Lord Shiva says I always worship Lord Rama by chanting His names. So there is a very sweet loving relationship between Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna. 😃

How many times have you read a single commentary ? Just by one reading you can not claim that you have read fully. Read the first commentary you mentioned for 2 to 3 times, reflect on what Krishna is saying, you can also make notes, then see the effect.

Iskcon is most in accurate gita. But its also most devotional gita. Its as if a person is in a buffet and likes only sweets. Iskcon gita is a section of that buffet that has only sweets in it. So if tou re into sweets only, just go to that section. Sweets here is a metaphor for krishna devotion.

But the version of Geeta that you're mentioned (of shri padupadswami) has wrong names of Adhyay. Instead of original adhyay names, there are modified adhyay names in the index.

I agree with you sir. The version of that Geeta ji is very easy to understand but at least, the Adhyay names needs to be original. Otherwise no one will be able to remember the real names of 18 adhyays.

EXCELLENT conclusion. Great choice. Srila Prabhupada's translation from ISKCON (ORIGINAL edition), is the best for beginners and advanced as well. I tried reading other translations from others authors and couldn't understand a single thing. only the yada yada hi dharmasya , paritranaya sadhunam , only this I understood. But after reading Srila Prabhupada's translation of Gita , everything because very clear. there was natural flow and I could follow easily. I used to mark and underline verses and purports, made notes and 1st time began to memorize verses of bhagawad Gita easily. I couldn't do it before. Srila Prabhupada's translation of bhagawad Gita (original edition not second edition) became like a text Book for me. I developed Love for Krishna . That's the goal of Bhagawad Gita. To surrender to Krishna and HE WILL TAKE CARE. 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks Vijay for your comment, what you say is one sense correct and what the author has done is also correct, if we study Bhagavad Gita then we understand that in end Sri Krishna concludes Bhakti to be the perfect method to understand him based on that author has given the conclusion earlier , this is a bonafide way of writing commentaries and is actually one of the tuffest to do so.

the commentary refferred is supported by commentaries of the previous acharyas like Madhvacharya and Sripad Ramanuja acharya, their conclusions match with the commentary of Swami ji, you are in this way doubting the conclusion of the great acharyas.

I am really a staunch supporter of Shri Swami AC Bhaktivedant Srilaprabhupad and his emotional struggle story, and how he propagated the teachings of Lord Krishna all over the globe. But I believe ISKCON's version of Gita is a lil biased to Bhakti Yoga ex In chap 2 verse 41 its translated व्यावसायत्मिकाबुद्धि = Resolute intellect in Krishna conciousness. if we read any literal authentic translations we see Lord Krishna explains about defferent Yogas like Sankhya Yoga, Karm Yoga or Bhakti Yoga but He never distinguishes between any of them. He says if anyone follows any of these Yogas he would ultimately follow Liberation, in this way even an atheist can follow and implement the true teachings of Bhagavad Geeta in his life. But also we shouldn't be shocked cuz after all ISKCON is an org based on Lord Krishna so it actually makes sense why it is biased, but if anyone wants to achieve the absolute essence of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita he should opt for unbiased versions like Gita Press publication.
