Brave decision mate. And yes, the HB CST made you great on KZbin, including the story behind it. Like we shared in the chat last Friday, get rid of the bass and the acoustic. 😂😂😂

Lovely playing! I think you should sell one of the other guitars, The Yamaha Pacifica being the prime candidate for me. You can replace something like that at a later date, but you can never replace the 'emotional connection' you have with that Harley Benton. Well that's what I think...

Great show! The 1st episode I've watched was your story about that HB guitar and the selling of your PRS I believe. That story was just so right that I will never forget.I am reminded of the loss of my mother and how as time just keeps moving full speed ahead and sentimental material things that we hold on to change in meaning over time. How you told that story made me look at HB guitars in a different view, never did buy one but the way you used it,and played it beautifully I would not hesitate in looking if I were in the circumstance of wanting or needing one.Epiphone SG brings back the memory of one I had back in 1978-79 it was an early to middle 60s? 1 P.U. p90 working machine.I miss that guitar I paid $15.00 for and let it go for a bad trade. Thanks for your inspiration.

Wonderful solo towards the end John. Bit of everything in there. Hints of Thrill is Gone. Well done. I have a hard time parting with my guitars.

In the end, probably the right decision, but I did love that solo, and I recall that guitar fondly from when I first started watching you ( and playing guitar!)

I was afraid that was the one that was going. I remember when you told the story of it. Haven’t seen it in a video in awhile so I guess it is the one to go but I do love it along with the story.

Thanks John, if I hadn't come across your channel all those Moons ago, today I would not have a CTS24 hardtail. She fights for top billing with my LTD EC256ld all the time. So she isn't going anywhere. I am sure your mother would have been proud of what you have achieved by buying a Harley Benton instead of a PRS.

Lovely piece you played on the soon to part Cst-24, very "Santanesque", with a touch of Eddie Van Halen there at the end (what a combo)! I hope whoever becomes the new owner enjoys and takes good care of it.

You chose the guitar I predicted before I saw the entire video John and I think you have made the right choice. I am glad you still have some Hatley Benton guitars in your collection and that you continue to champion them, I love them, but you also deserve to have some, shall we say, more prestigious guitars in your collection as a testament to your great channel. As always, look forward to your future content. 😊

I find it hard to sell guitars - when I think back to the ones I have sold, they've gone and (now) so has the cash! Thank goodness that these days we can have good guitars for cheap money (I, like you, remember when we really couldn't) Re the SG, how about neck dive when you're standing and it's on a strap, John? My DC junior is fine across my knee but very head-heavy on the strap, I think it's because of the top button being behind the neck heel.

Tough decision! The only one that I didn't see being a part of your "Thought journey" was the Revstar, I think. But yes, if you don't don't have a good reason to keep a guitar hangin' on the wall ... and you don't grab it to play...then I think you've made the correct decision in your case. Good luck on the sale! (But I think you will be able to move it along pretty easily.)

Such a poignant video about a practical, real world decision! That’s the thing about musical instruments: It’s not so much the materials or the craftsmanship, but the sentiments and the personal histories we invest in them that make them unique and special to US. Some people might look at these things and say “who cares, these are just material objects with X amount of value in materials and labor,” but those people have probably never seriously played an instrument! At the end of the day, a guitar is just an object made of wood and metal pieces, shaped by craftsmen, and while we can certainly debate the finer points of each one’s craftsmanship and how well one guitar plays versus another, each one has a sentimental value, and that sentimental value generally increases as the instrument is played more. If it’s any consolation, I happen to think you made the right decision with that last one-as you say, it’s not like there’s any actual piece of your mother in that guitar, and I know if it were MY mom and I were in your shoes, she’d most likely be very supportive and say, “that guitar has clearly served you well for that time, but now you’ve found ones that serve you even better, so I understand that it’s time to let this one go, but don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere, I’m still going to watch you do even better things now!”

I appreciate the mum's memento. Had same scenario re my late father. I sold it and used the money to buy another as a tribute to him. In fact, that's what he would have wanted having been a pragmatist. The feelings of the HB can be transmitted to another instrument. All good.

Me, I could never get along with SG’s. The neck feels too long or something. Plus I have a Les Paul and they cover the same ground sonically imo. That one is pretty.

Hmm. That guitar has a very unique signature. Unlike many others. But, I'd keep that over the anemic REVSTAR (return it). Besides, I can hear and see an attachment to it. Make no mistake. You'll regret it.
