Love my HM pro’s. My fitter nailed the shaft and set up. Both great irons, shaft is so important. I am now in my late 60’s and can now hit the distances I was hitting 30 years ago with my forged Mizuno’s. Stronger loft helped also.

Thank you. You clearly know your craft. I’m writing to share my observation with club fittings and curious what your take is…perhaps a video topic unto itself. I’ve been fit by my club, Club Champion, and 2nd Swing and I’ve walked away from each of them with more questions than answers. In one of those experiences I was fitted to X-Stiff shafts only to have them all replaced after playing with them after a few months. There are two problems I’ve observed with fittings that the general public receives: 1) Can’t fit a proper fitting in a 60-minute window. It seems to go like this - after a 5-10 min warm-up, try a 3-5 head and shafts combinations + my own gamers. Compare some basic numbers (with 5ish shots) for each combination like distance and dispersion and then the hours up and time to make a decision. No dialing -in and tweaking and tweaking further like you’ve described. 2) The fitter is no-where near as knowledgeable as you are…I have never received much insight beyond the basics. I’ve read enough to feel like I know as much as they do but I’m going to a professional fitter that is supposed to take me to the next level…just hasn’t happened for me. Here’s my question: What is the proper way to get fit? Is it a multi-event effort or should all of this be able to happened within an hour? I’m not suggesting getting fit for an entire new bag in an hour but even a driver, in my own experience, takes more than an hour.

We allow 90minutes for every session so call it 10min. To warmup, 60min to find the right solution, 15-20min to fine tune, be it weights, SW, Grip, loft, lie and adapters. It’s just that important. The other thing we do is we provide a complimentary post fit session for every fitting, this way when our customers pick up we will test again to make sure. I truly believe the extra time and the post fit is the real secret to walking away with an unbelievable result. Thanks for sharing and the kind words.

I had the JPX hot metals. Didn’t have the feel I thought it would. Picked up a slightly used set of the Apex 21’s, excellent feel, great distance and forgiving. Than I remembered, the Mizuno irons were cast, not forged. That’s why the feel difference.

It's the Jack Nicklaus Right Hip Turn that the world forgot about for 50 years when they tried to make every golfer tight, non-athletic & mechanical. Now, every Tour player is again ripping it because a Math Prof wrote a book about Strokes Gained and proved how important driving distance is to lower your score. Eric is a fantastic resource and amazing teacher. Hot Metal Pros are great clubs - I have the 919s weakened by 2 degrees for a 32 7-iron - that's the thing I wish they didn't change with the new ones - the lofts are too strong imo. Nice fitting.

Would rather see swings and hear the sound of the clubs versus seeing tracers. I thought the HM Pro was a club that didn’t feel great even on nice strikes. Apex a major advantage in that category. The Apex has always been a top performer. I think the ‘21 is the best yet and the ‘19 was already great. I would match the Apex against the 921 Forged more than the Hot Metals.
@SwingFit3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing, and I would be inclined to agree with you that the new pro is really more comparable to the tour 921 and the regular apex more to the forged. We just didn’t have the pro at the time of creating this video so we assumed the pro would have been a good comparison. And without question the Apexs is not quite in a league of its own but it just flat out performs, and is definitely a strong contender in any of the fits we do. Thanks again for sharing

So at 6:38 you skip right over the part where he's hitting the ball much straighter. I think that's a big deal. How straight was he with the subsequent shafts?
@SwingFit3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great point for sure, the other option wasn’t as tight to the center line, and one of the things we should be able to achieve is not only tightness left to right that is but often over looked is tightness up and down meaning I like to see the ball hit a similar launch window more often as well.

Question: Does anyone else have a hard time finding a good fitter. I’ve been fitted 5 times for different clubs at 5 different places. Edwin Watts, PGA Tour Superstore, a couple of local fitters and Club Champion. At each fitting, they asked me beforehand what model I was interested in. At the end of each session, they all recommended the model I was looking at from the start. The chances of the clubs I’m looking at being the best fit for me FIVE times I imagine are slim. Do they just humor you?
@SwingFit3 жыл бұрын
Such a really good question, I truly wish there was better uniformity and consistency but the one thing I’ve learned is you can teach someone how to fit but the reality is they truly don’t know how until they gain experience, and unfortunate as it is what you described is what golfers around the globe experience day in and day out. In regards to your question, I do find it odd to a point, what would be cool is for you to do a fitting without expressing any bias and see what they put you in. If you give me a blank canvas I guarantee you will leave with the best options, but the question would be is it the same, inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks for sharing.

First video. Loved it. Subbed. Curious why Apex (not DCB or blended) and HM Pro (not HM) ? From other reviews it seems DCB might have helped with low strike? I’m upgrading this year from ancient x16s and considering Apex and 921 so hope to see similar improvements to your customer (was 8HI when playing regularly but more like 14 now after 10 years of very little golf).
@SwingFit3 жыл бұрын
Very good point about low strike point forgiveness and DCB, they are great but may not be a good fit for certain swing types as a result of the wider sole it can actually slow down your club head speed because of excess turf interaction.

A 15 handicapper having trouble “squaring up the clubface” ???? Really?
@SwingFit3 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you are agreeing that squaring up the club face is a challenge for a 15 handicapper or if your implying that a 15 handicapper shouldn’t have any problem with doing that. Regardless of which I will say even the best in the world struggle with squaring the face up, if they didn’t no one would ever miss the fairway or green, and my job as the fitter is to simply help individuals square it up easier…Thanks for sharing.
