“OG Yugioh I feel has a lot more aspects to it like playing around Mirror force, Heavy storm, Gorz, Honest etc. which I think was cool and adds more mind games. The pacing was a lot better as it at least feels like you have a chance unlike in modern Yugioh where you pretty much know if the game is over from the opening draw. Oh and being able to actually play if you go 2nd is nice too.

How is playing around Mirror Force different than playing around Nibiru?
@finaldivine82352 жыл бұрын
@@kindlingking First of all, you have a hint of a set card(for morror force) contrary to Nibiru. It is up to you to guess if it is a Mirror Force. Set a negate before your fifth summon, this is the playing around Nibiru, or just spam your monsters if you will have infinite resources like most of modern meta decks ignoring Nibiru. But for Mirror Force, you choose which monsters will be in attack/defense position. You choose to tribute/use them as fusion material or not to tribute them before your battle phase.
@kindlingking2 жыл бұрын
@@finaldivine8235 a hint? If your opponent has no set cards, you may play without worrying about any interruptions. You can never be sure your opponent's hand, unless it's empty, doesn't have a hantrap, so you need to always be prepared and at times take risky lines of play. There are no "safe" moments. Set negate before the fifth summon? Blow up opponent's backrow with stuff like heavy storm or mst before committing to any play. How's that for mind games (waking the dragon is a modern card btw)? Besides, if a deck can set up monster negate by fight summon and isn't done it's usually overpowered and gets axed on the next banlist. Most if not all high roll combo decks straight up lose to Nibiru and have no way of playing around it, but that's their trade-off for turn 1 boards. For more midrange decks like salads, for example, playing around Nibiru means thinking how you would recover and comeback once it hits you. Which is often hard, since you need to play through whatever your opponent will throw at you, and very skill intensive. Then there's also a fact that trap decks exist too and be used on competitive level just fine. I already mentioned waking the dragon, but there are a ton of other cards that have some mind games or tricks around them. So in a sense modern yugioh has everything old yugioh had and then some on top.

9 words i will banish a light and a dark. No play around no nothing your opponent has basicaly won the game cus he summoned one bls. Also there is two choices for decks, worrior tool box or chaos thats not verry fun. most games just become topdeck the good card or loose the game. If you want good formats just look at fire water or eddison for a welth of decks and different strategies. If it is skill you want just look at dragon ruller format. As a kid playing that, my only strategy was 4 star beatdown. by min-maxing having 1700+ level 4s and a ton of removal like dark hole and man eater bug, I could never over commit and always have the advantage. By today's goat format standards, my deck would have been total ass and I'm aware of that. Hand control (yata lock) and Chaos were things I was blissfully unaware of. What I like about modern Yu-Gi-Oh is that you can always do something cool. In the anime, the characters always had exactly what they needed for their awesome combos. If we could all be Zane and draw into three cyber dragons and a power bond every single opening hand, then that would be great. But because real life doesn't have anime drawing, trying to play old school decks meant that you could only play cool anime moments by luck. Nowadays, you are always able to summon the cool monsters and make the cool plays. Everyone can do crazy stuff and feel powerful.

I had a trepidation going in Master Duel back in January, I wanted to try the game out and I was weary of it being too much for me. I only followed Yu-Gi-Oh throughout the years with videos from TeamSamuraiX and such. I remember such video being the Deep Sea Diva stuff and watching it playout, I felt like I didn't like it. I'm someone who played the console games and never really saw the TCG/OCG grow throughout the years, so now there's a new Yu-Gi-Oh game that isn't like Legacy of the Duelist, Tag Force, World Championship, and even Capsule Monsters, I wasn't too sure. But I wasn't against combos, I remember playing Assault Mode Stardust Dragon turbo years ago with Armageddon Knight, Malicious Bane, and Plaguespreader, but I thought I had a limit to what I wanted it to be. But now, I really love the completely bullshittery that can happen, as long it isn't floodgates. I just love boardbreaking and back-and-forth interaction, obviously this isn't always the case. But honestly, I see some people having the same answer as me, OG Yu-Gi-Oh is too boring for me, including playground Yu-Gi-Oh. I couldn't really play Tag Force anymore, even when I put it on turbo mode. I love the adrenaline pumping games as I'm a very competitive person and I'm also very patient with long combos, as long as I know I can interact with it.

I'm an OG player, my original deck was two Kaiba starter decks mashed together and Dragon Capture Jar was amazing to use because of Blue-Eyes being the BBB (Big Bad Beatstick). Back when LP wasn't a resource to be spent freely, and Giant Soldier of Stone was good enough to keep you safe in the early game since the biggest level 4 monster had 1800 atk, unless an equip spell boosted it. Traps like Solemn Judgment actually had to be weighed and used for just the right thing because half your life points had to be weighed against whatever was about to happen with something as simple as Lord of D. hitting the field. The biggest argument for preferring the old days: You got to play the game. These days people can spend 10 minutes on a turn, burn through most of their deck and leave you unable to actually do anything on turn 1. You could just as well turn it into coin-flip simulator, because very often whoever goes first just wins now. The barrier to entry is insurmountable for the physical game unless you have a lot of money to burn on cards. Master Duel at least makes things accessible, but it's still mostly down to that first coin flip and if Ash Blossom is in the opponent's hand.

Used to really dislike what the game had turned into when Pendulums and Links became a thing, but with time and especially thanks to Master Duel have started to like and prefer it way more than old school. Love how intense some duels can get, love how powerful decks feel with many of them having the 2500+ atk be a standard now instead of a rarity, have grown to love the flashiness of pendulums and how they are presented in MD and Duel Links, started to enjoy Links a lot after learning how they work and seeing archetypes like World Legacy and Borrels. Only really hate the existence of cards like Halq and Verte which limit deck building to always needing to have one of them to do anything. A complaint some had was matches being too quick by ending in 2-3 turns but realistically within those few turns you get as much interaction as like 10 turns in the early 2000, if not more depending on what you draw, there being a back and forth between set up and interruptions trying to prevent it, boards being broken, overpowered monsters getting countered or obliterated by a kaiju or giant ass rock, when both sides are able to do shit, it's fun. Have been giving the shows post 5ds a change in the last few years as well and honestly none of them were as bad as many kept claiming (last few duels of Vrains are top tier), have even met people who learned of the game through like ArcV and finding Duel Monsters confusing cause of it's first season.

This might be a little long so as a summary i enjoy both of them just as equally they both provide the same fun just in different ways and unlike what most popular belief both have the back and fourth aspect and the outsmarting and cool unexpected turn of events exists in both format just in different ways I have been watching Yu-Gi-Oh probably since i was like 6 and as soon as i got the chance to actually play it i sure enjoyed it a lot the old formats with their set and passing really resemble the show and give you that feeling since Old school Yu-Gi-Oh has that Yu-Gi-Oh fight feel where it starts slow and it builds slowly towards the climax of the duel and you definitely feel the back and fourth with the amount of turns spend where a duel easily can break 20 turns. Also a simplicity is without a doubt key to it's fun since for the most part we were onga bunga big attack stats and swinging with a twist in between which definitely hooks little kids to try and play it. And even down the line when things got interesting during goat format and Edison format everything still has the same vibe overall with how duels usually go With modern Yu-Gi-Oh i returned to it after years of forgetting Yu-Gi-Oh exist and it was with duel links than later online duel simulators and now master duel. The thing with modern Yu-Gi-Oh is that the style of play changed drastically since now the game has a way faster pace and more combos that for the general person it would definitely look complicated and present itself as a big learning curve. But in reality everything in modern Yu-Gi-Oh can be simplified if you understand the general idea of how the game works. How the deck work and what each deck tries to accomplish which sum up everything the rest you learn slowly overtime. What i mean by how decks work is that in general all modern Yu-Gi-Oh cards can be classified into these categories(note that these aren't all present at the same time necessary in a deck but it is usually how it goes): Searchers: which are cards that facilitate getting to your combo piece and core cards Core cards and combo pieces: the cards that are key to you achieving the goal of your deck. Boss Monster: for some decks it is the most important monster of the deck and usually what your deck is built around. Most decks aim to summon him as fast as possible. And he is the win condition for the decks that have one. Recruiters: cards to help give you back stuff you lost to use it again usually serve as a backup plan. Interruptions: card that interrupt the opponent from reaching his goal and what he is trying to do And for what the deck is trying to accomplish varies from deck to other but for modern play style the goal is "build your own board while preventing the opponent from doing it" which create this dynamic where your opponent or you are trying to set up a castle and the opposite side is trying to prevent it before it is set and later try to break that castle which is where the back and forth aspect plays out where unlike old school Yu-Gi-Oh it is not in the course of multiple turns it is done in one or 2 turns. So as a conclusion both modern and old school Yu-Gi-Oh are great and have the same fun aspects but they are presented in different styles of play so obviously it is personal preference in the end

as someone who's only gotten into the game very recently, i prefer og lmao. to be fair, i think the middle ground would be perfect; some combos, some synchros, etc, but we don't need 500 link summons a match and two dozen ways to negate things and stop your opponent from playing and cards that are better for drawing than pot of greed but are inexplicably legal. i want an actual strategic yugioh rather than "play as many negates as possible and hope your opponent doesn't negate better than you so you can win in two turns." i didn't grow up with yugioh at all but i've come to love it really quickly, and i honestly regret not getting into it sooner so i could have experienced it early on. not that i had friends to play with or money to buy cards.

I prefer Modern. Although, I like the game in every era except notably 2018-2020 (which is arguably one of the worst times to play yugioh). My favorite Era of Yugioh is MR3 from 2014-2017 starting with Duelist Alliance (DUEA) and ending with Maximum Crisis (MACR). This era of yugioh was absolutely crazy reshaping the game into what we would know as modern today. This Era has multiple of my favorite decks including PePe, True Draco/True King, Aromage/Aromaseraphy and gave support to my other favorite decks in Fire King and Noble Knight. This era also introduced a lot unique decks that still have presence in today's game like Shaddoll, Invoked, Burning Abyss, Phantom Knight, Kaiju, and more. This era also introduced my favorite summoning mechanic in pendulum. When I was a stupid teen a new way to summon powerful monsters that wasn't just slapping two or more monsters together to make a bigger monster like every other summoning mechanic before it. to tl;dr my feelings modern yugioh has so much more diversity, powerful effects, and interesting ideas that "old yugioh" just doesn't have in abundance in addition to my own nostalgia.

I prefer OG over current meta, but the best version of Yugioh is modern casual that do make use of the new summoning methods but at the same time the decks are slow and underpower enough that no one has multiple negates after 1 turn and duels last for multiple turns. An example would be dueling with 2-3 copies of a TCG structure deck right of the box without any add on.

For me personally I lean more towards old school Yugioh. Not true OG, mind you, but maybe GX or 5DS era. My favorite aspect of Yugioh is the player interactions, such as mind games. In older Yugioh it is more prevalent to the game than now. I can hear something along the lines of "What about Ash Blossom, it is a mind game to get around it" and I can tell you that the impact of Ash Blossom is no mind game at all. Who cares if they activate Ash Blossom on you, decks are too consistent for that to matter as much. Oh no, my deck search was negated, anyways I activate another effect that lets me search my deck. Older Yugioh actually let both players play the game and have a more fun and interactive duel. Modern Yugioh can be so frustrating to play. There are too many instances where it is just nearly unfair and boring like "Oh, I go second? ok. *30 minutes later* Ah, my turn I see. Oh, I see I am not allowed to play the game now." People may complain that older Yugioh took a lot of time for duels, but that time was spent between the both of you dueling each other. It is not like just watching your opponent playing Solitare like it is today. How is watching them set up an entire board that literally makes you unable to play the game fun? Now, all strategies have a counter to them, a weakness per say, so I should just play to hurt the weakness more, right? Well, that just means I have to do the same thing, not letting them play the game, that is the counter to them. The starting hand matters way to much now, and with no mulligan system, it can be annoying to lose because you just happened to go 2nd and just so happen to also get a bad hand, AND they just so happen to have enough to stop you from playing the game. Modern Yugioh does have fun points to it, but when it is all about hand traps, not letting your opponent to play, and how one-sided games can be is not a very fun game state. If Yugioh had formats almost like how Magic does, it could be so much less of an issue than it is currently. The issue would not be gone, but people could play in a format where it is not an issue to begin with. I like Yugioh a lot because cards I buy I can still use years later as long as it is not banned. It does not make much sense though that Yugioh does not have formats to play like how MTG Arena has. The closest we typically get is those temporary festivals in Master Duel. I can either have a 30 minute duel in an older Yugioh style where both of us could play the game with the mind games and all, or I can "play" a 30 minute duel where the opponent plays Solitare.

I prefer OG, but still play the game now. I took a break for like 15 years, after the power of chaos games, and only came back now with Master Duel because it was free and nostalgia compelled me. And man oh man, i was so overwhelmed by all this new crap. I've come to learn this too, i'm currently Diamond 4, but I would very much prefer the OG. PS: 7:24 that sounds nice brother, but only for people who have your money for gems....pulling SR and UR from the stupid mega pack AND be useful is next to impossible, so everything would need to be crafted for a ton of gems, and no free to play player would waste like 8k gems to build a weak deck that can be used only for a few days and them go back to ranked and cry over the gems

I both love and hate both and would say something in between, but if I had to pick; OG OG is just more friendly to newer players, which made it a lot easier to bring friends into the game. Plus, while I don’t mind fast paced games, modern yugioh is a bit TOO fast, often ending after the first turn if you can’t shut down your opponent from setting up 5+ negates turn one. So OG wins for me, but not by a lot, cause OG yugioh definitely had its fair share of issues as well And yes, I still play

I started Yu-Gi-Oh with duel links, which IMO served as a great way to learn and love the game, since they slowly but surely and naturally went from more OG strategies to newer ones, i absolutely see no appeal to old school Yu-Gi-Oh, i definitely would've dropped the game if i started back then, so yeah the old school and modern are completely different games so it makes sense some ppl only like one but not another and there being some who like both too, i agree that there should be a format in MD for all kinds of Yu-Gi-Oh enjoyers, at the end of the day, we all love the game in our own ways for our own reasons and there's really no reason to seriously argue over people's tastes

I like early 2010's YGO, around the time of XYZ to be exact since it felt like the perfect point to have combos and a sense of back and forward game. That said, i think Classic is my prefered form of the game, simply because it's easy to pick up, and of course, easier to get friends to play with you.

I started playing back when there wad only starter deck Yugi and Kaiba. As nostalgic as it was, I stopped right before GX. Most decks were pretty similar and duels took forever. I came back right around 5ds and liked the new Summoning but fell off again, now the support a lot of cards are getting and how fast and so many things you can do with decks now....I definitely like Modern Yugioh over back in the day. Even if some combos are a bit too much.

I like older Yu-Gi-Oh because you where allowed to take your time while now days if you don't play fast everyone gets mad. And it's boring to play only fast decks all the time. While yes it may be more fun in modern however it's just not fun anymore. Also in older Yu-Gi-Oh you can play your fave cards with out getting OTK on the 2nd turn.

Yugioh was one of my favorite games back on my high school days. I was into the first yugioh and then the last was GX. After that, I went on a different hobby. Decades later I checked on the meta and I was like, "modern yugioh is not for me, how can you chain those insane moves on a single turn, and demolish the opponent's entire hope and lifepoints on the same turn." I mean, one of the cool moves back then was "Heavy Storm, Monster Reborn(revive a high level monster), Raegeki, then attack on the battle phase." Things really do change 🤣🤣🤣🤣

As much as I love OG, master duel and its modern format is what got me back into the game and I really enjoyed learning all the crazy stuff, there are a lot of bad parts about modern like it's complexity and toxic playstyles but the new support allowing me to play dark magician in a modern format and actually see success is so cool to me
@pieoverlord2 жыл бұрын
OG - full on bias here, just can't get back into the game to play myself. Two big things make the difference for me; interactivity and consistency. I'm sure everyone has heard enough about the former but the latter is a pretty big sticking point for me. Basically, in modern YGO for a deck to work it needs to be aiming for a couple of specific win conditions. If you're not drawing into your win condition, then you're drawing things that search out your win condition whilst locking down your opponent as best you can. Those are pretty much the only two stages of play which makes every duel basically a flow chart. You have a lot of options as to what shape the flow chart takes but actually playing just gets really stale, really fast. Take this very video with the OG deck! You couldn't draw what you wanted, couldn't search it out, so you played around it using the tools you had. In Modern, that's just a quick surrender to save yourself the time watching your opponent pull out their lengthy combo that you both know is almost certainly game.
@Xehnas2 жыл бұрын
My preference is a bit inbetween. I dont mind decks that can spam existing, but synchro era decks that comboed were a lot more frail than modern combo decks, so there was inherent risk going in that hard. And while I would never wanna go back to like starter deck yugioh, its just exhausting playing the game now. Like I can barely care enough to just play a hard going second deck and then just throw board breakers at them till it works or doesn't. If comboes were shorter, maybe it would be more tolerable, but like I never thought back in the day, we would get to a point where every deck's turns lasted as long as X-sabers in their heyday.
@trent9462 жыл бұрын
Hmm would saw leaning more towards the classic era but with the fusions. I just enjoy having a match that can be at least 5-10 turns long/longer with back and forth to try out playing each other. I actually started playing again because of master duel. Just feel like it’s hard to keep up with everything. Though does give me a spark of joy here and there reminding of being a kid.

Honestly i grew with modern yugioh. So i really like the format we are in for the most part. It can be very frustrating but i thinks that playing a control deck like i do, there is more strategy or thinking on what to nagate, manage resources and some more fun stuff. I play Sky strikers. But when i first started i bough a pack of 50 random cards, so we all had pretty much old school decks because nothing combo, and there where a lot of old school cards with some newer ones but it was super fun to duel that way.
@deshansostrang15852 жыл бұрын
OG Yu-Gi-Oh is just a cleaner way to play. Modern Yugioh feels like adding Lab coat 21 in FighterZ , making older characters extremely outdated (meaning much more power creep cards and abilities), or in this case older decks and cards outdated. If I had friends that play and make different unique deck like you, Seereax and Doto did, I'd certainly play weekly, but ranked mode is just a Hellhole right now.
@thatguyzach75992 жыл бұрын
Personally I love the mechanics and complexity to a certain extent. Having so many combos, choices, and strategies opens up so much to explore. On the other hand are the flaws that come with said complexity. It's a shame to see when certain things are "meta" or disadvantageous because they aren't a part of some perfect strategy, and it really locks a lot of things out of the game.

I love older yu gi oh a bit more cuz I like the idea of someone responding to ur plays and u responding the next turn. Back and forth duels don't happen too often in modern yu gi oh and I think that is tragic
@robro_10302 жыл бұрын
I think it'd be cool if Master Duel had options like Pokemon Showdown where you could queue into lobbies that allow cards only included in certain eras of the game. For example, if you choose to play in the GX lobby, you would only be allowed to use cards up to and including GX. That way, you can play whatever version of the game you like most and still have fun

I played a bit of OG when it was new and liked it, then did nothing up until Master Duel and upon learning all the new mechanics I found I really enjoy newschool but, honestly, I feel like newschool has too many power-creep problems to be for me completely. I like all the tools in the kit, I don't like just how blindingly fast duels go- and not from I "I lost!" POV, from both- if you win you win in 3 turns max and I think that's an awkward design direction for a game with such fun combos. In all my time on Master Duel I think my longest duel outside of gimmicks with friends was like 10 turns, and that was a brick v brick scenario. Overall, newschool, because the options are insanely fun. I just wish it was slower despite the combos, like more counter play to perfect boards, maybe even more LP at this point not that current combos really care about LP count (you raise it to 20k and the combo can still manage that in one turn half the time), it's just too fast to invest in a duel but so fun while you're in it. Newschool for sure. Warts and all.

I really enjoyed og yugioh dark world crystal beasts and heroes. The decks didnt feel as autopliot-like as they are now. I love playing the og since it lets players have more freedom with certain requirements. At that time your deck had mirror force dark hole and solemn judgement in most lists but you had ways around it. Over the course of the evolution of this game its now become do you have a hand trap to stop my plan....no okay you lose. I watched a game at an lgs where a round lasted 2 mins. This is 2 games and the opponent was nice to asking do you have a hand trap and proceeded to reveal his hand and explain his combo. The opponent accepts the loss; second game same thing again. I was stunned and flabbergasted at watching this. To me that showed how unhealty the game is, id rather go play commander cdh, where even if i may not have an answer for everything the opponent has to look at the other 2 players at the table. Sorry for rant, stay awesome rhyme and i stopped playing because of the unhealthy state of this game.

So I don’t mind either I can play both personally I prefer a more casual play of modern yugioh or if there was more variety decks instead of the same 5 meta decks, or otk decks. I enjoy it when there is back and forth. I stopped playing after synncro monsters came out and then I came back so I don’t know what point is consider modern be og yugioh. So when I came back and started playing it was 6 months ago (roughly). I obviously got curb stomped (mainly because I was playing cards I was used to). After doing some research and messing around I definitely got my footing

12:57 There's of course duelist of the roses, and forbidden memories, etc... I remember though in the Nintendo Ds games we did have the monsters animated. They even had dance animations while idle, almost as if to the music during the duel. Was fun. But yeah would be neat to have a goat format-style casual league. I'm sure it would be very popular quick.

It's basically a comparison between combo meta and card advantage meta, they're both very different and can be enjoyed differently. I like the both of them but i think i'll go with "Modern" yugioh or the combo meta purely because the humongous card pool and also some of my favorite decks got so much support over the year
@Capta1nTD2 жыл бұрын
Classic Yugioh has a definite appeal but I'm gonna go with modern because I love having actual archetypes. There are so many fun modern archetypes like, Weather Painters, Subterrors, Dragonmaids, Exosisters, Dark Magician (even if the anaconda ban kinda screwed us), Despia, Red Dragon Archfiend. You can't get that in old Yugioh. Some cards have a similar theme like the chaos deck but proper archetypes weren't established. Now I definitely think combo decks have gone way too far, it's part of why I usually enjoy more control or midrange style decks. Being somewhere in between classic and modern Yugioh would be ideal. Like the 5Ds and Zexal era. Not saying links aren't cool, there are actually some link monsters I really enjoy despite the generic OP ones. But the mentality of those eras were great, they had combos but combo decks still did take some setup. And end boards weren't so definitively game winning. That's what I want Yugioh to aim for.

Classic Yu-Gi-Oh was like playing chess, which I like even till this day. Modern Yu-Gi-Oh is hitting people with combos as like you're in fighting games, another one I like, but I'm not good at. I love to watch how people put stuff together. I haven't been hip with Yu-Gi-Oh since they add pendulum and link monsters. I'm still stuck with the tribute, synchro, and xyz summoning 😅.

I like the old school more than modern. Watching you guys playing old school yugioh is hilarious going back and forth. The only thing I like about modern ygo is legacy support. If we had cards like Egyptian god slime, guardian slime, legal god cards, timeaus, DM the dragon knight, mahad, mana, etc. Back in the day versus waiting 11-18+ years to release key cards; I think the game would be better for players who like playing older archetypes via slower formats without modern handtraps and 15 minute turn 1's 😂 Teaching people old school yugioh is easy for the most part compared to teaching modern. You pretty much have to go to Duel academy to learn summoning mechanics, missed timing, and what newer modern archetypes do.

I like OG yugioh, only because I like actually playing the game lol. Its just to likely nowadays that you don't get to even right back. Plus you got to be a niche strategy or gimmick more often. This is true with any early version of a game but the point still stands.

OG. But actually, OG with combos. Not whole deck playing combos in one turn, but like 5-6 card combos at most. Yes I like set/summon pass, but I like a small combo to be done before that. Yes I still play, I feel like with modern Yugioh I have to have a math and literature degree to understand the basics of the game. I went to locals for the first time in over 10 years over the weekend and got slaughtered with my Poker/Arcana knight deck. It did not compare to everyone else’s deck. The worst part is, I got some of the guys to look at it and their response was, nothing was wrong with deck, I should have won at least 2, but i bricked so hard each time, or one negate ruined everything. However that being said. I did misplay 3 times in One Duel. I forgot what effect vailer did as I hardly use it and use Ash, but I don’t have a physical copy. So I could have at least held out for a turn or two, and then I forgot to return Joker straight to my hand which slowed me down. But this was all in one duel. The rest of the day was bricks. But listening to everyone explain what their cards did, I was like “okay” I don’t know what they do, I’m not reading every single card, I trust my opponent. But it was overwhelming to say the least. Would I go again, absolutely, someone has to come last at locals.

I definitely prefer Older and i still play today, because back then even if the other person had a better deck you could still play. Now a lot of the time you have to sit and wait for 5 minutes for your opponent to have their turn only for you to not be abks to do anything and that isn't very fun imo

To Answer your question Rhyme, id say OG just cuz its what got me into the game. playing eternal duelist on the gameboy was so fun but wanting to actually master the game is why I think modern yugioh is so good to. The plays people find when cards release is insane idk how they do it. Oh, and I have a question for you, would you be open to introducing people who haven't played yugioh into the game? Like when Doto played Xenoverse 2 with you guys. I think it would be interesting to see u have an OG duel against Nano or Afro ( just assuming they've never played Idk really) in the future. P.S but if you do whip out a modern deck out of nowhere and see their reaction.

I think the better question is: do I want games to go beyond 3 turns, so I want to play a game where the emphasis is not on “I get to YuGiOh you don’t get to YuGiOh (ending on a board of negates with hand traps to the gills)”- if the answer to both those questions is yes then you will probably favor old school YuGiOh or casual YuGiOh.

I grew up with OG Yugioh and stoppee playing before all the new rules and mechanics came out. All that new stuff really kinda stopped me from coming back into game, however, with Master Duel I learned the new mechanics and I actually came to enjoy new yugioh. While I will always have a love and miss old school, modern yugioh is great in its own way. It’s a more dynamic game and I am HOOKED on it the same way I was as a kid with old school

I like the ideas around new yugioh. But i like the flow of OG. New yugioh is built as an otk or lockout fest. OG felt like you actually have to play around each other and plan in advance. Now its all hand traps and combos. I could watch an entire episode of the anime and someone can still be doing their combo.

As a person who has gotten back into playing the game in the last year, but didnt play before that since 2011, I think I prefer the 5D's era of the game. I think Synchros and the more easy archetypes introduced in GX era makes the game faster but nothing insane like it is nowadays where you mostly win turn 1 or two. Old school is really slow and has a lot of unnecessary cards with totally impossible and specific combos, but the ease of combos nowadays where most meta decks have 1-2 cards that will just instantly start a full field combo is quite annoying when you cant stop it, or when you get stopped and your opponent insta kills you turn 2 because you couldnt combo and they can.

I like both for certain aspects. I started playing when shooting star dragon came out. Maybe nostalgia but loved playing those times way more. I feel like during this time it had a good balance with simplicity but can still go complex without setting that many non interactive cards. Monarchs and plant synchros were some of the most enjoyable decks for me.
