I have a trick for the airspeed for the 727. If you want to maintain 300 IAS on cruise level you can set your throttles on 3.000 LBS per hour per engine. This is a trick real 727 pilots also many times used. When you level off at your target IAS speed you can adjust it bit by bit. But in the basic you're quite safe if you use this method.
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, we will give it a try.

With the 737 you can also adjust the passenger cabin lighting. I resets to the default settings for your phase of flight after a few minutes though as I've found.

In real world 737-200 normal cruise is 0.74-0.76M and 727s run at 0.78-0.80. Add 0.02 if you're in a rush and can pay for the extra gas.
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын

I personally think the 737-200 wins hands down. Both are the best quality aircraft you can get. The lighting on the 727 really shines to because of the light bulbs they used (big and clunky) and the 3 variants is very very temping. But the fact there’s no cabin to greet you is what made me go with the 737-200. I also found that the 727 series auto pilot paled in comparison to the 737 which was a lot more straight forward since I am aware there is multiple autopilot brands for the 737. I like having a challenge when flying an aircraft so the 727 was really good in that perspective but Concorde came around which snatched more of the attention away or the felis TU-154B. I also had the problem of throttle blocks. I own a Saitek throttle that only has 3 variable inputs. And I couldn’t risk losing my speed brake axis to another engine which was needed for the 727. I think the 737 classic models or later are too easy for sim pilots who are relaxed with those aircraft and should fly the 737-200 instead to get a bigger challenge using RNAV or INS, TOD, correct rate of climb, watching fuel temps, the pressurisation gauges or the quite often engine stalls because the aircraft in some respects is underpowered or just because of the low power to weight ratio in my opinion when flying which is quite a handful already since I don’t like to use the laminar FMS which automates a lot of that. If you like to spend more money on hardware and like to just focus on flying rather than details then the 727 is for you. If you like to still have a challenge but more minor but focus on details and quality for what is worth your money. The 737 is for you The thing is. I’m not complaining at the great work FlyJSim, if FlyJSim added another variant or 2 for the 737-200 that would put it worth at least $80 in my opinion and really competing with more modern aircraft like the legendary Flight factor 767s, 757s or the ultimate A320. I had a couple of ideas for more variants of the 737 actually The father of 737s. The 100 variant The amazing logistically reliable 737-200 combi The much isolated community loved 737-200 cargo Or even a BBJ variant. Tell me what you think FBFT since I notice you respond to a lot of comments

Thanks for the very thoughtful reply. Lots of great observations there. I think you and I feel about the same way about these planes. They really offer an experience quite different from the digital world of the 737NG series, or any of the Airbus family. It is more work, and more immersive and satisfying because of it. On a weird note, it also made FlyJSim's life easier. Custom FMCs are typically the #1 weakness and complaint on payware aircraft. By doing classic radio nav aircraft with a Laminar default for cheating, they have avoided that mess all together. I guess we will have to see how they do with their new Dash8-Q400, which they have shown will include their first custom FMC. Again, thanks for the great reply. Check out our podcast, I guarantee you will like it. -FlightBro Tim
@MrAlastairwylie4 жыл бұрын
Flight Brothers FT you’ve got a point there. FMC can be really hard to code and even to just integrate it is a nightmare. I also saw the new upcoming Q400 which looks really good. But yeah zibo and the IXEG which are both study level quality are great but don’t really have that shine that the originals had. And in the video, the first for a cabin to have moveable blinds and overheads bins weren’t big to me but what really was nice is the fact everything can be done a lot more manually. You missed In the video the animated air-stairs that are incredibly smooth to watch. Another big thing for a cabin like that is the manual lighting you can control in the front and back and even the air stairs can be manually controlled without the GUI. That’s what makes the 737-200 stand out because it makes you feel more than a captain. In the 727 if you had smart co pilot then yes you would become a flight engineer if you so wish but the reality is the cabin in the 737 can make you feel like a flight attendant or even a passenger if you really stick your mind to imagination. Also sure, I’ll have a look at the podcasts that you are suggesting

I didn't go too far into the depths of the comments, but the one thing that isn't stated here or on the store page for the 727 is what it used to navigate. Whether it was a CIVA/INS or VOR style navigation, or if they gave the default FMS as a toggle for the lazy pilots (JK).

The VOR is available, the FMS can be a blank panel or is “toggle-able”. A CIVA can be purchased and added.

It all depends on how you have them set up. I (Lee) just completed a 727-100 flight. 737-200?

Is CIVA really in real 737-200?
@FlightBrothersFT3 жыл бұрын
I have seen the CIVA on some B732 panels, but not many. You can find some in a quick Google image search. Since the 732 is a short haul aircraft, the need for it on continental flights within the United States would seem to me to be limited. A long haul aircraft doing transatlantic or transpacific would have far greater need for precision the CIVA would give. Obviously the arrival of GPS and FMCs would also limit the use of CIVA on later models that would have been upgraded.
@thekungfuguy46783 жыл бұрын
@@FlightBrothersFT interesting info, because i never see 737-200 video using CIVA but maybe because of that limitation use. I got the info that in here Indonesian Air Force 737-200 use LTN-72R (INS) and search it on google, it works like CIVA right?
@FlightBrothersFT3 жыл бұрын
@@thekungfuguy4678 in some respects the CIVA is an INS. Once the plane knows where it is, then it can measure, through lat/longs, gyros, or more recently laser accelerometers where it is and where it needs to be. The solid state laser “gyros” are more accurate and reliable. This is also how ballistic missiles navigate. Now of course we also have a GPS satellite constellation as well.
