Speaking as someone who entered 40k and the hobby in 10th, I've looked into the really major past and present events without even daring to get any deeper, only because I know that the story is just a backdrop for the tabletop, which is evident through its repetitive nature in many cases. But don't get me wrong, I dig the absurdity of the 40K Universe!

It feels like if your goal is to actually play a game, legion is the way to go. If you’re looking to get into the “hobby” (lore/painting/youtube content) 40k has more

I think some categories should be weighed but I agree with the final result. Gameplay and accessibility over the best models.

I know it’s completely subjective, but I’ve been loving some of the Disney era books. I think the aftermath trilogy is incredible, and lost stars might be my favorite Star Wars book

Some interesting points, but I do disagree with the points for the number of factions. So with 4 factions vs 28, I'd say even if 28 is too many, it's still better than only having 4. Just my opinion, though.

40k lore is way better. Way more people playing it. And the models are gorgeous. Once the 40k tv show comes out, it'll grow even more. Obviously just my opinion. Play what you like at the end of the day.

All fine opinions to hold. I think whether the TV show is well received or not is really important. If they do something like make the main character a female space marine I'm guessing it will upset a huge portion of current players, and if new players come in amidst consistent arguing among the player base then they are going to be turned off. But what do I know? I'm just some jerk on the internet. Have a great day.

TRY BOLT ACTION, OR BETTER YET, KONFLICT '47

I've thought about Bolt Action. I'm to limited on resources to jump into it now. I'm going to have a place where I can run my 3D printer soon without having to worry about the fumes causing horrible alergic outbreaks in my wife. So I may eventually print an army for bolt action. But the first one I want to print is a Rivendell army for MEBSG. Have a great day.

You mean you can get completely into a new faction by buying them? Yes its just a terrible shame that everything in the CIS battleforce box already comes in the core set. I'd rather have seen 3 B2s, Dooku, a manga guard, and two spider droids. make is something a little more worth buying. But what can you do. Have a great day.

@@brokengalaxygamesI get where you are coming from, but for the CIS invasion box, the repetitiveness makes sense for the horde army. If you bought the core box, then the Invasion set gives you just about all the B1s you need, plus a Magnaguard and an AAT tank. It is pretty stupid that I have multiple General Grievous figures and the included tank is missing some pilots, but not a bad deal at all.

I made this decision and went with 40k. The problem here is there is simply not enough legion players to get consistent games near me. But I also disagree with some of your rankings, the existence of combat patrol being a single box that means you can play a pretty solid game mode, making the game pretty easy to learn. I will say, I am necrons, so my opinion on paining may be skewed as they are notoriously simple to paint.

I also think, when we talk about 40k being more expensive, you have to take into account that the miniatures are simply better, so its hard to just compare, points per $

Thanks for your thoughts. But comparing combat patrol to a full game isn't a fair assessment. If you compare combat patrol then you need to compare it to a Legion skirmish game. And if you buy either of the starter sets which are consistently being sold at less than $100 then you get two starter armies, dice, rules, movement tools, etc. for cheaper than one CP. I have just one question. Do you think in 5 years Legion will still be around? This company has a very bad track record. On the other hand 40k has been around for a long time. By the way kids??? These games are not for kids. Never the less good video. Good luck with the channel.

Legion will still be around. Probably over 90% of gaming is done casually in people's homes. If you have the pieces and the rules you can keep playing. So in my house yes, legion will still be around. Yes, kids love games and they love spending time with adults playing games. Some kids won't like them but others will love learning all the rules. I don't think that you should jump into the full depth of the rules immediately, but without new people coming into the hobby none of the games will stick around. Have a great day.

I’d say personally legion is better because I was born and raised up with Star Wars in general. Legion is still cheaper than 40k 😂😭. Both are fun but when it comes to which one is better, definitely legion🙏🏻🤌🏼
