I live in Massachusetts also and use live bait ( shiners ) and I do well. But I use a wacky worm circle hooks and that’s another way that works. Lots of lures however seem to collect weeds.

My biggest largemouth was 6 pds 9 oz with a shiner when I was 17 I’m 45 now most of my other big bass are from rubber worms . But plenty of 5 to 5 1/2 pd bass on jigs and top water lures here in Rhode Island and southern mass where I fish . Crazy crawler and whopper plopper

I only like love bait cause you can feel the fish bite a lot easier but most of the time I use lures

Can't speak for others, but I use lures almost exclusively in both salt and fresh water and it works well enough for me. If I go fishing when the sun is out, I'm guaranteed to hook a few mackerel, although I don't often catch ones I can legally keep.

Well here in jersey I can't catch tog on lures so there's a reason for live bait. But everything else I can use lures. Some things are preference some are convenience and some are common sense and knowing what fish you target eat.

As a lure fisherman. I think there is nothing wrong with fishing with live bait. If you just want a relaxing day of fishing without having to do much then just throw a minnow on a hook with a bobber and cast.

Man so happy to see other fishermen who have a real life brain and use it as a do I have fished my hole life and used live bait 98% of the time growing up then 1 1/2 % cut bait then about 1/2% I used lures but it’s because we always fished to keep and eat now older I use lures for just about everything but have nothing against someone using what they like and works for them because some people are just crazy about it and talk down to people who use live or cut bait and to me that’s what is wrong fishing it’s to relax an have fun your way not how someone else tells you to 🙏🏼

Bro I have never caught a fish on live bait its a curse I have and ive caught right around 100 bass this year on countless different lures from frogs to jigs. Worms specifically are my curse I can't catch on a live of fake worm ever lol

It’s the opposite for me, I usually use superworms for fishing and I’ve caught lots of Bluegill and even a decent sized Bass, I haven’t had much luck with lures but I might try and give the lures another shot.

I fish 1 live and 1 lure on a kayak. I work them together. I have a shinner / minnow swimming around and use lures to draw out and pull them to it if they don't hit the lure. I want to start catching my own bait again.

I use both. It don't matter I am at sea or on a fresh water lake. I use live & lures.

Bass fishing is easy that’s why they use lures to add some level of difficulty. Saltwater takes a lot more skill and effort if you show up at a pond throwing a saltwater lure you’ll still probably catch a bass throw a bass lure in the salt you’ll most likely be skunked

@@Tackle2thePeople well as I think about it, technically worms are live bait. Besides that type of live bait, you're not allowed to hook a bluegill or a minnow in that sort of live bait.

Yeah saltwater fishing is easy if you wanna catch shit fish but better fish take better bait/lures lighter lines different techniques catching bigeye scad in Hawaii we use 2 or 4 lb fluorocarbon tiny egg sinkers and 12-18 foot leader lines not to mention tangling with anyone els fishing the same ball
