I am from Canada and have been working in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years. We grew up calling everything that looks like a shrimp, a shrimp. But people in the restaurant industry usually use prawns because it's bigger and it is more flavourful similar to what your dad has mentioned.

I always thought prawn was just what Australians called shrimp. Thanks for the correction.

My mum had a friend who owned a transport company in Hawaii. He bought a shrimp 'farm' in China and went to visit it quite a while later. On the way there, he got to talking with a stranger who told him there were some really great tasting shrimp at the village my mum's friend was going to. When the stranger was asked the cost of these shrimp, he said they were free! Apparently, workers there were robbing the place blind and giving the shrimp away! 😆
@bcatbb28962 жыл бұрын
ya, that's about how things go there. if you aren't there in person, the locals will take advantage of this and rob you blind. they don't even consider it immoral or criminal, just opportunity since the owner isn't around anyways

In the UK the word "shrimp" refers to a tiny little crustacean. I think they're called brown shrimp in other countries.

just wondering.. does it make sense if someone is allergic with prawn but fine with shrimp or probably the other way around?
@terencesakamoto44162 жыл бұрын
It rly depends on what sort of thing in shrimp/prawn one is allergic to. It might be a type of protein in their flesh/shell/etc. You can probably get the specific allergen tested and if the other animal doesn’t contain that, then you’re not allergic to it. (Not medical advice.)
@v23v2 жыл бұрын
@@terencesakamoto4416 that's true but many allergen tests offered here are using less specific parameters. there's no classification between shrimp vs prawn. sometimes they only refer to shellfish in general 😀 thanks for your suggestion!

Outside of North America, prawns are caught and farmed in salt water. Many places have freshwater shrimp and other crustaceans, often known by a range of local names. The distinction between shrimp and prawn is often based on size, with shrimp referring to smaller prawns, though terms can be used interchangeably to accomodate American speech.

Wish you would stop with these shorts on the main channel. Would also like if you skipped the stories with the recipes, on the recipe site. Its annoying that you have to skip and skip all the time, to see the recipe in this video. Keep that on the offcial youtube.
@WanderTheNomad2 жыл бұрын
I'm fine with the stories on the recipe site because there are literally tabs on the top that say *Background,* *Ingredients,* *Steps,* and *Summary.* That let you easily skip the stories if you want to. Though I do agree that it's probably a good idea to keep the shorts on a separate channel. Some people like them, and some people don't, but there's currently no way to toggle them off in your subscription feed. So a separate channel is a good way to do that.

@@WanderTheNomad when I use their recipes, I like to watch the video guide as I make it, so the stories is a problem for me. Its not that I dont like them, it would just be nice to leave them on the recipe site.
