I found apush to be a lot easier for me because everything was a sort of consistent story set mostly in the same place. However, my apush teacher taught through ppts/lecture and videos. AP world was extremely difficult for me bc even though I really enjoyed the material, Cornell’s over a almost 20 pg chapter were due every Friday and it killed me. It also got confusing because whap doesn’t have the same linear timeline as apush bc u r jumping between locations. I’m really glad I took both but WHAP was so much time consuming than apush ( but a got a 4 on both exams)

ap world is so much harder in my opinion. it’s so confusing, especially since each country has different events happening at different times, but you have to be able to connect it simultaneously. i took the class over the summer last year; over the 2019-2020 school year to prep for the ap exam, i read over a textbook over 4 times, but i still couldn’t grasp all the information (i still lucked out and got a 5 on the ap exam tho lol). on the other hand i took ap us history this summer in june and the material is so much better! since it’s about one country it’s less overwhelming and everything is chronological and not all over the place

I took Apush last year, with only the dbq as the test. Heimler’s DBQ formula and videos are what made me get a 5. Seriously. It helps sooo much to have a formula for the thesis and a structure for the essay before you begin, because then you don’t have to think about how you’re going to fit in all the points. For most people who take ap world first when you take apush it will be such a relief off you shoulder because you’ll remember what you learn from ap world about America around the same time it just adds to familiarity. I think the part of the reason people struggle in these courses b/c they are too afraid to ask for help. I struggled in ap world for most of the year b/c I was scared to ask for help coming from a virtual year. My teacher was honestly sooo nice, but his teaching style was disorganized, and I was intimidated by him, since I can be shy sometimes. By the end of February, I realized: hey something I’m doing is not working, maybe ask for help. As soon as I started asking for help (staying after school to go over MCQ and asking questions almost everyday), the struggle started to become more bearable, and my grade was skyrocketing. Even though I thought I was driving my teacher nuts by emailing him often and bothering him about content from September, they are there for YOU and they see your hard work. You don’t have to suffer alone. That was one of the lessons I’ve learned from this year as I am going to APUSH.

Closing in on the exam we only spent the last week doing a bit of review, and it was only focused towards a few of us. We won’t get scores back for a while, so I don’t know how the majority of us did, but I’ve never had a class in which we learned practically nothing. Hey Heimmler’s History! You cover both wonderfully, and even though I would love you to cover APUSH as it is somewhat harder and I am taking it next year, I can’t help but feel bad for all of those freshman and sophomores that are going to have to take their first few units of AP World online. It is completely up to you but as much as I would like more APUSH review, AP World students and teachers are going to have a very difficult time these first few months so I think there should probably be some AP World. On the other hand, there are always your Unit reviews for them to look at, and there is not as much APUSH content. Sorry if I’m confusing😂. I love your content either way and you have helped tremendously with my AP World stress last year and unit review.

Evaluate to the extent of which AP World is harder in comparison to APUSH Context: 1 Heimler talks about how people, especially AP World students, ask him if AP World is harder or if APUSH is harder Thesis: 1 Heimler says although AP World likely harder for some becuase it's their first AP class, ultimately it's subjective, depending on the teacher they have, if you're a big picture or detailed person, and whether you took AP World first or APUSH first. The thesis is historically accurate because these classes are available only within the past 100 years. Example: 1 Heimler talks about his experiences with a teacher who taught straight out of the textbook. He also talks about how the normal process for most schools take AP World first then APUSH. Support: 1 Heimler uses his personal story of a teacher that taught straight out of the textbook to show that the teacher's teaching style made it an "awful experience". He also talks about how taking AP World first might be harder because it's the first exposure to DBQs, LEQs, SAQs, and stimulus-based MCQs, where as if you take APUSH after AP World, it might seem easier becuase you're already exposed to the structure of the test. Uses historical reasoning: 1 Heimler uses causation, talking about how being a big picture thinker leads to a favorabililty toward AP World, while being a more detailed thinker leads to the favorability toward APUSH. He also compares the different styles of AP World and APUSH, one specialized in the big picture and the other in more detailed information, respectively. Complexity: 1 Heimler talks about how whatever his high school biology teacher's teaching style might've been influenced by whatever she was going through during that time. He also modifies the argument to be more of a subjective approach than a definitive ranking of difficultly. man literally answered the question in the form of an LEQ and knocked all the points out of the park. spoken like a true history teacher. I decided to summarize his answer like this because the nuance and reasoning he provided sounded a lot like the essays we write in AP World. (I structured the question to be "How much harder is AP World than APUSH" becuase this question, as said by Heimler, is mostly asked by AP World students.)

Having taken both classes, I view them with equal difficulty. This may have been due to the fact that I had pretty good teachers and a pretty good memory and skills on top of it. However, I do agree that APUSH is more difficult in terms of information density but AP World can be overwhelming in terms of new stuff. Either way, both are difficult courses and I wish everyone luck in taking these courses because it is a RIDE of both cynicism and optimism. And tons of WTFing all over.

If you have been even remotely interested in American History before APUSH then the class is much easier than people make it out to be. Having a general sense of the big events allows you to fill in the gaps with specific ideas, policies, court cases, etc. World History? That was like starting from scratch for me and was way harder.

speaking as a sophomore who took apush freshman year whap sophomore year(same teacher for both classes) apush was so much harder most likely because apush is a lot more detailed and strict because it’s one country but with whap it’s less leanient because it’s multiple countries with different continuities

@samanthacamire61523 жыл бұрын
I think World is harder because there is no linear timeline, you just sort of jump all over the world and have to magically connect everything on the test. It drove me crazy that we would cover things in such a random order. One day we’d be talking about Africa and then we’d move to Asia and my teacher would say, “oh yeah this was happening at the same time.” Confusing!! Meanwhile APUSH is one place going straight through history and like he said, you’ve heard of a lot of the stuff before.

The general consensus is that AP Psych is one of the easier AP classes. I'd say Gov is easier than APUSH and AP World, but harder than Psych.

From my experience, my world class was significantly more rigorous because our teacher really cared about us learning all the information and actually developing historical thoughts. My US class, the teacher did boring basic notes for each unit and then we just watched movies and that was the entire class. In terms of the exam, my world exam was significantly more difficult than my US exam, a ton of the US content was super basic stuff that I learned in 7th grade social studies

I took both APUSH and AP World with the same teacher and can clarify now that my junior year is over that APUSH is wayyy harder. I finished AP World with a 93 year long and just finished APUSH with a 78. I mean sure it’s subjective which is harder but that big of a grade difference can’t be subjective. APUSH is overall a harder class for those who took AP World looking into APUSH their junior year

At my school, you usually take APUSH and then AP world. I actually took ap world but not us history, so ig I can’t rlly offer my thoughts. But ap world was pretty fun and your videos helped me get a four on the exam this year!

i just finished junior yr a couple months ago. for me it was def world as the harder one but at the same time i do enjoy us history a lot more. i would say i liked my us teacher more but both were great teachers

I think it depends on when you take the course and what your course schedule looks like lol. I found APUSH harder personally because I took it freshman year while taking ap physics. Even though I took AP World in Junior year when my schedule was loaded with AP classes, I found the material to be easier to understand in general.

My high school doesn't even offer AP World, I went from APEURO to APUSH.

At my school AP United States History actually comes before AP World History. Freshman and Sophomore’s take APUSH (It’s split up into 2 years) and Juniors take AP World

I think it depends on the teacher personally, APWH was fantastic as a class and the test itself all credit to my teacher however as Heimler stated my APUSH teacher wasn’t great and due to that everything became difficult as a whole.

I took WHAP last year with a TERRIBLE teacher and got a 4 on the exam. I am taking APUSH this year and can already tell I love my teacher. She is so much better than the one I had for world.

Just hear this was a good channel for AP world from Mr. Sinn. Super excited for this year

my school has AP gov and politics first in freshman year, APUSH in sophomore year, and WHAP junior year. I can't say anything about WHAP, and unfortunately I've heard that my teacher for that class isn't going to be great, but at least for gov and us, gov is a really good introductory AP course. it's new and it's hard, but it's not so overwhelming like us would be. I also had a good teacher. going into us with a good teacher, prior ap experience, and an open mindset is really the best way to approach the course. if a prior ap course isn't possible, as long as your teacher is good I'm sure you'll be fine.

I don’t like how general AP World is bc it makes me feel like I’m not learning enough, or like I’m missing something. I haven’t taken APUSH yet, but it sounds more aligned with my strengths as a learner. I feel like I naturally remember specific details, especially if I’m already familiar with them.
@joegavin92274 жыл бұрын
I've taken both and got a 4 on both exams. I personally loved AP World so it was easy for me, but AP World is harder because it is more information to know, but APUSH is much more specific.

As a junior who just took the ap exam, I’d say that APUSH is much easier. With ap world, there’s so many places that you have to remember and important events during the same time periods can get all twisted and messy, but with APUSH, chances are you more than likely know, or have at the very least heard of the names or people that are in the cirrcullum. I’d also HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend using the APUSH mnemonics (quizlets) it helped me more than anything on the test. If you can remember those as you go, the course will be much easier.

To be fair, Ap world was literally EVERYTHING LIKE EVERYTHING. I think a push would be easier cause we’ve been learning about US for year so you already have a basis. But for world we literally don’t know anything💀

As someone who is going into senior year and took both exams, I would say APUSH because it has way more specific material, whereas world had many broad connections and overviews
