The purpose of the stange balls in the Mahle filter revealed : the balls dispers the flow of the air in manny directions inside the filter itself , thus keeping the air inside the filter as much as possible and evening it's distribution inside the filtering surface . The more the air stays in the filter the greater are the chances to catch particles. That technology is also used in fluids filtering . Great video and kudos for the effort put in to it ! keep it up Sergiu !

After several years of wirking in automotive industries I have some conclusions for aftermarket parts. Bosch doesn't produce the filter. It's made mostly by WIX-Filtron (now MANN+HUMMEL) plant in Gostyń (Poland), Robert Bosch GMBH is only packaging them and singning their brand, the same situation with lightbulbs (I don;t know as for now, bot earlier made by Philips) and timing belts (GATES - mostly made in Legnica Poland, even my brother was working in this plant), brake pads (LPR - Italy) etc. But going back to MANN+HUMMEL FT it's producing filters for OEM (Original Equipment), OES (Original Spare Parts) and aftermarket in their own brands: Filtron, WIX, MANN and for other companies such as: BOSCH, Starline etc. in many of their plants in Poland and EU countries. Hengst is also manufactoring in several plants in Poland, Czechia (Liberec) and obviously Germany If You want more research about aftermarket brands origins I can help You.

So considering what you wrote, would you say that Flitron cabin filters are similar quality to Mann? Im asking cause Filtron filters with Protect+ technology (similar to Frecious Plus from Mann) are cheaper than some ordinary carbon filters from other manufacturers.

You should be a stand up comedian. Great sense of humor. If any further tests occur please add the ridex budget brand. Very curious how they perform. As to the bacteria, throw your rotten egg mixture on the filters, let them dry to open air, and compare results after 2 months😂 explicitly note the test should be performed in a kitchen for maximum result 🙈

I'll be living in my garage for the next few months if I do it in the kitchen 😂

Even your comment shows, how different we are. In my opinion, his comedy is a bit forced, cringe, and he should not do that. It literally makes me feel uncomfortable. He is making some very good videos, but humor is not his strong side. But we see things differently, no problem with that.

Overall excellent work. Rarely you can find this level of determination on youtube. I would just suggest that it might be better if you did rotten egg test outside. Since the smell had already filled the room once you opened the jar, and the filter doesn't help much. It might be different on a windy day outside. Anyhow, thanks for doing this, it was very well done :)
@SergiuGabor3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your appreciation! I forgot to mention that the the rotten egg tests were performed 2 hours apart. That way, my nose came back online 😂 and the smell in the garage went away.

My 2 cents: Antimicrobial layer is the finest layer in order to filter out the bacteria.. Therefore, I consider placing it the last, in order to prefiler larger particles, is the best for the filter longevity Growing in or on the filter, is the same for me
@sven76392 жыл бұрын
The reason why the antibacterial coating is on different sides is because he didn't pay attention to the fact that there are filters for left and right-hand drive. Be careful when ordering parts online.
@yukineshinky84242 жыл бұрын
Maybe it’s so that the bacteria doesn’t grow from the evaporator as they often house bacteria and mould..

The small balls in the middle of the filter are humidity absorber media, used in desiccant cartridge filters in commercial vehicles air systems. They are used to dry the compressed air used in the braking/suspension systems to not damage/freeze the electronic/moving parts of the systems.

@evankolpack3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great content! Another aspect is how much air can pass through the filters. Some filters have excellent filtration properties, but cut down dramatically on air throughput, which can make your vents for A/C, heat and fan deliver far less CFM. For this reason, I'd say the Hengst takes the lead, or maybe ties for the lead, depending on your priorities. In a very polluted city or on super dusty country roads, of if you have bad allergies, you might prioritize filtration at all costs. If you live some place that gets very cold, or very hot, you might want that extra air throughput. Aloha!
@WendenWarrior3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, your videos deserve a lot more views. I had a cheap FILTRON "charcoal filter", now replaced it with the MANN premium filter, it definitely makes a difference - I notice the usual smells are gone - like when using windscreen washers, exaust smells from car in front etc. Next one I'll buy will be Mahle, as it seems to perform even better.
@simonandrewcrane3 жыл бұрын
Good video but I'd have been interested to know the flow rate through the filters. (Will a better filter restrict air flow). When I replaced my cabin filter I swapped out the cheap non-carbon Valio filter for a Bosch carbon filter & it seemed to be a lot more restrictive.

i searched the maket today for an audi A4 b9 filter (CVNA) and the Audi price was 94 euros. From the aftermarket options i found only the Bosch option for 32 euros. I would definitely love to see a comparison series between genuine and aftermarket parts. Other than that i was a bit dissapointed for not finding hengst or mahle but on the other side, been living in Athens GR and walking everywhere for the most, the dust particle retention for driving for 10 mins should probably be less worrying. thanks for the video!

Damn! I need to join patreon. I just changed the cabin air filters for my Honda and my wife's Mercedes 2 weeks ago! I bought the MAHLE for the Mercedes 🤘 and the Mann for the Honda. Tha Mann one is very thick and it was hard to fit on the filter box slits. I was nos really comfortable with the way it was fitted. The MAHLE although thick too was much easier. This could be due to the manufacturer design but it also shows that at least for Honda, Mann could have tested it better. Anyway, great video as always! You really should keep going! Hengst Filter is the number one for Mercedes Benz. The AMG’s use always Hengst filters. They fit very well on Mercedes. The Oil Filter from Hengst is the only filter how clicks when you put it on its place. That means that it stay on its place and the oil bypass is open. That’s why I personally would recommend Hengst filters for Mercedes-Benz cars.

Did you supply your test results back to the manufacturers? The automotive filters market is very contentious regarding who makes the best. Mann and Hengst for instance are both German based companies but have manufacturing all over the globe. Mann, for example, have a factory in Korea to cater for the automotive and marine industries in Korea. Mann-Hummel now own US based Wix Filters and Polish based Filtron. Mann also manufacture filters for the Bosch brand. Have you looked at brands such as BluePrint, a brand owned by Bilstein?

Excelent, ca de obicei! O singura obiectie: trebuia sa testezi si airflow-ul. Normal ca Mahle a iesit no.1, atat timp cat are cea mai mica suprafata filtranta si cel mai gros (restrictiv) material - nu prea trece nimic, nici praful, nici aerul curat. PS: atat Mahle/Knecht, cat si Hengst fac filtre (aer/ulei/polen/combustibil/exicator etc) excelente.
