Gotta say they’re both most likely made in the exact same factory, the small differences you’re seeing are “safety measures” between North America and Japan markets. The Japanese one is also more because of the licensing fees for the characters.

As a former professional seamstress, we use tools to guide fabric, and we push and pull things where needed depending on fabric or style of sewing, just don't pull against the needle or it will break, if you pull you have to do it on both ends (like when you are setting elastic) and a chopstick works well as a fabric guide, I have sewn myself (via a fingernail or two) to a garment lol

here's something that I think these kits both lack: On a real sewing machine, you have feed dogs under your fabric and a foot on top of it to basically clamp your fabric to the machine and help guide it, these kits make sewing HARDER by not helping you guide your fabric through it.

It’s entirely possible that’s the reason for both the space & the needle speed differences. I sometimes think US safety rules/laws go too far & end up negatively impacting the usefulness of items & makes them more difficult to use. They also try to idiot proof everything way too much. In the case of many kids’ toys they end up trying to make toys baby proof even if it’s clearly marked age 6+ or even 12+! Because if a toddler or child younger than the recommended age uses it & gets hurt...even if the parents bought it for the younger child fully knowing it is intended for older children...parents will STILL SUE the company & drag their name across social media. And many have won such lawsuits.🙄😒😒🤯 Just like many adults have won lawsuits after injuring themselves or after a loved one died using a product in ways that completely defy common sense. Yet if it wasn’t strictly covered in the warning many do actually win. Common sense & critical thinking are both becoming more & more rare.🙄😕 Just like parents being actually expected to educate/raise their own children & teach the right from wrong, safety, etc. 😒😒
@emilymulcahy
@emilymulcahy 3 жыл бұрын
@@roguewolf7053 it's more likely they are just manufacturing defects, the only safety reg for this is not enough space for a finger or body part to get hit with a needle, you could buy a dozen of these and each one would be different, it could also be the US is greedy and wanted to be sure only their thin felt git through easily, but my money is on the first theory

I used to be absolutely terrified of sewing machines until I decided i'd start practicing to try to make a gift for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I only practiced a few times and my Mom ended up having to sew the whole thing in the end but it's actually fun! The kind of sewing machine my Mom has isn't that loud, it's easy to work with once you learn all the dials and buttons, and it has a pedal so I could go as slow as I needed to. The machine even pulled the fabric through for me! I just had to get the hang of steering the fabric to do curved lines. Not that i'm trying to convince you to try it but I personally found that my previous fear was a bit silly. But before that I had no knowledge at the same time so I can still understand the fear of the unknown. Have a good day! (Or whatever time it is for you.)

I like to sew a little, it's more for bean bags only. I 100% have fallen in love with sculpting. I also love painting after. Thank you for introducing me to clay!!! About 2yrs ago I had never touched clay. I'm not the best, but it makes me happy.

Thank you so much I really appreciate this video and I learned a lot. My nieces wanted to learn how to sew with a sewing machine. I sent them the pink Cool sewing machine years ago. I always wanted how it worked out. We live so far apart and they don't like doing face time or zoom due to privacy. I used to make videos to teach them to sew. Just so they could see me even if I couldn't see them. I had sent extra felt kits as well as just felt for creativity play. I got a little emotional and cried. I know they did play with it a lot but it felt good to see that I made good choices.

As a sewer, it's a rule of thumb to place the "bulk" of the fabric so the outside of the machine. That way it's easier to feed through. The short edge seam side points towards the inside of the machine. You got this!

Clever marketing on Spin Masters part, because this is clearly achieved felting machine. Felting machines IRL can cost $1,000 or more. Props to Spin Master for making such a cheap and accessible machine, but they might want to call it by its correct name.
