What pisses me off the most about five minute crafts is how downright dangerous some of those “hacks” are. Especially if they have a younger audience base who may not know how to properly handle these types of materials. Thank you, Jackie for always making sure we’re not hurting ourselves and putting danger warnings.

Exactly! They've also got other dangerous "hacks". Do you know those white strawberries that taste somewhat like pineapple? They've got a video where they put normal strawberries in bleach to use them as white strawberry decor on food. How To Cook That here on KZbin has a few videos debunking food related hacks. The problem with 5-minute craps is even if you report it, it won't be of any use. Several people have tried reporting that bleach video, but KZbin says it's not dangerous because it's never said the strawberries should be eaten. Implications apparently aren't proof of possibly dangerous contents. (Photo of real white strawberries: lovelygreens.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/white-strawberries.jpg )

@@allisonmichelle92 Yes. I saw some people in the comment section of How To Cook That say they got a strike from KZbin because they falsely reported 5-minute craps for dangerous content. You saying that hot glue would just make things stick: The thing is, hot glue isn't actually glue in the classic sense. It's pretty much just plastic that gets heated until it melts and then hardens again. The fact that it makes things 'stick' together is because the hot plastic seeps into all the available nooks and crannys and surface imperfections and then hardens there which makes it rather like barbs digging into the surface of the materials. Which is why it's pretty much impossible to hot glue smooth materials like metal - there's nothing for the plastic to hold onto. Now, depending on the fabric, hot glue is actually pretty harmless becase the texture of the fabric is usually too fine for the molten plastic of the hot glue to seep into, so it just stay on the surface and hardens there, mostly just encasing some thin fibers that stick out from the fabric. So long as the fabric you use is sturdy enough to withstand some pulling and yanking, it's not all that hard to remove hot glue stains from it. Also I'm pretty sure the 'glue stains' left in your piece of fabric aren't actually glue at all. Most fabrics are made up of some amount of polyester or spandex - both of which are heat sensitive materials. I think what might actually have happened is that you got too close to the fabric with your hot glue gun and actually melted the polyester/spandex portion of the fabric.
@annapruitt5546

Yes! I’ve seen that happen when people have tried to iron their fabric and end up with holes in it because the heat just melts the plastic in the fabric.

I can confirm about glue gun burns. When I was in high school theater, we sometimes made our own costumes. The teacher taught us about hot gun safety and told us to unplug the hot glue gun when we weren't using it. Someone clearly didn't listen because on our Saturday show, I was doing a quick costume change. I was grabbing some clothes on the floor when I felt a burn on my arm and screamed. Someone not only left a hot glue gun on the floor, which allowed it to be covered by clothes, but also left it plugged in. I didn't have enough time to cry, so I finished my change, went to the stage, waiting for my part, and while waiting, tried to peel off the hot glue on my skin. I literally was terrified because I couldn't tell what was glue and what was skin! So I gave up and went on. It's a miracle I didn't get an infection, but I did get a scar. I thought it was permanent, but it eventually went away after 5 years. But since it was there for so long, I will always remember where it was. So yeah guys, don't leave your hot glue gun on and put it somewhere visible! I never told anyone my story because I didn't want anyone to be in trouble, but at the same time, it's not fair that I could have gotten an infection and permanent scar because someone was rushing and that person doesn't even realize it.
@ChaosCataclysm
@ChaosCataclysm 3 жыл бұрын
I would of reported it when it happened. I can understand not wanting to get that person in trouble, but you just allowed them to get away with such a dangerous action that actually caused someone injury. Not only that but those clothes on top of the gun could of caught fire and very possibly killed some. If a person isn't called on their mistake then they arn't going to acknowledge their actions the next time and end up hurting someone else. Sometimes it's not about trying to protect someone from getting into trouble for a mistake. Its about ensuring the safety of others from mistakes.

Back then it was soo cool to get braids, so we went to a hair saloon (being outside on the street) where I got 16 little French braids all the way from my forehead to just above my ears. My mom went shopping meanwhile at the store "next door". What she didn't see is how the lady who braided my hair finished off each bread with a bead of plastic. Which she *glued* in place with a glue gun. Since I was a kid and didn't have eyes in the back, I didn't see how she did it but she certainly touched my scalp with the glue a couple of times. Long story short, I was having the braids for 3 months and had such a "fun" time finally getting them out

There is a reusable plastic tool you can use if you want a nozzle for your orange. They've even got an upgraded one to make a spray bottle from your lemons. But they're a hard plastic that you screw into the middle of your fruit after you've rolled it around to release the juices. Some people have and use them, but they'd be even less popular than citrus juicers because the fruit needs to be a certain size for the piece to work. Search something like "citrus tap" or "citrus sprayer" on Amazon or a kitchen tool website and you'll see them for only a few dollars each. Still somewhat unnecessary tools, but at least you're not melting glue onto your citrus fruits.

Otherwise reasonable, yes, but maybe just tube of superglue would be better, since you are creating a flame to melt it, even if a tiny one. Some places can be really strict about it becouse how advanced fire extuinguishers are in public spaces.

I used to do the shaving cream thing for my preschool classroom. You have to use way more glue though. We would "frost" paper cakes with the colored stuff and the next day, they would be all puffy. They fell apart and flaked really easily after a couple of days, but I believe that's where they got that idea. The "cakes" looked great though!! lol
