I had the GLL3 330 CG earlier this year. The CAL Guard feature doesn't indicate that the laser requires calibration. It merely indicates that an event occurred that could have caused a calibration issue. These events include an impact (i.e. from a drop) or exposure to extreme temperatures. There is no way for you to actually calibrate the laser, but you can check if it's still within it's claimed tolerance (3/32" over 30 feet). There are several videos on KZbin that show how to do this; it basically involves projecting level (or plumb) lines on opposing surfaces (i.e. two opposing walls, or a floor and ceiling), marking the wall/floor/ceiling at the laser line location, then turning the laser 180 degrees, lining up the laser line with one of the previously made marks, and seeing how far off the line is from the other mark. I say I HAD the laser because I returned it. While I found it to be extremely accurate, battery life was nowhere near what Bosch claimed (I tried this across 3 different units), and the CAL Guard was way too sensitive. Just transporting the laser in a work van (on a padded floor) was enough to trigger CAL Guard. I also don't have any other Bosch tools, and am not interested in having yet another battery platform to keep charged.

Thanks for the feedback Michael, it’s always a tough decision to get into other battery platforms. I struggle with it all the time. I’ve checked my laser and it looks good still. Thanks for the tip.

great video. just wondering gll3-330cg VS gll3-80cg ,which one is better ? looks 330 is cheaper ,because the price includes battery and charger. 80cg without them.

Thanks for the review! But I think it could be unfair to compare old laser with the new one. Just because newer ones might have more energy efficient laser diodes (no matter what color). Also, the old laser probably lost some of its brightness after so many years of use

Hey Mate, Good review! Thankyou. May I ask, you seem to have a lot of dewalt gear, do you use a dewalt laser level? Or do you prefer bosch laser level? I'm interested to knowing you thoughts if you prefer bosch over dewalt. Thankyou

Thanks! I actually Don’t have any dewalt line lasers just the rotary green laser I love my Bosch and after doing a lot of research I decided to go with the Bosch green over dewalt green. I’m sure dewalt is great but Bosch has been in the laser game a long time and they just have better reviews.

I owned both the red and green versions and tested them side by side indoors and outdoors (in bright sun). Because I was doing a lot of outdoor framing work, I preferred using the RED GLL3-330 because it would show up better on the framing/wood in the sun. Agree the green was definitely brighter INDOORS. For OUTDOORS I'd stick with Red. Also, agree that these units are hard on batteries. I ended up returning the Green laser and applied a small portion of the savings in some rechargeable Energize AAs batteries. Works for me.....

Get some Eneloop rechargeable AAs. Either the 2000 mAh or the 2450 mAh. Eneloop are the gold standard for rechargeable NiMh batteries that can be abused and ask for more.
