Kirby, I've noticed you don't install toe taps on you shoes. Won't your sole wear out until it starts scraping the welt, leading to a premature resole ?

Have you seen the vid where Kirby goes through the shoes he owns? He has a killer rotation and I suspect it would take a while to wear down any of his shoes given the number of pairs he owns.

@@planetbarton Most definitely! He is doing this for us, so I expect he has little need for resoles, but it still bothers me knowing he'll have to get them resoled prematurely because of this, if he ever does so

It depends on the way you walk. If you notice his walk is very inward facing, I don't think the toes of his shoes get a lot of wear. Some people don't need taps.

If I did a high shine polish for shoes that I wear very infrequently, with months or sometimes a year gap in between wears. Do I need to strip the polish off and then redo the high shine? Or, can I just touch it up as long as there isn't serious damage to the shine?

Hi Kirby, I really love your videos. I am getting into dress shoes, but I really dont have a high budget (I mean, maybe not even a budget compared to your collection of shoes and products). So, I was wondering if you have any thoughts on the shoe wax from Salvatore Ferragamo (if you have ever used it) because that thing is like 20 USD per can. I really wish I could pull some more money out of my wallet, but Saphir is way too expensive in Mexico and very hard to get. Also, annother shoe related question... I have a pair of black chisseltoe oxfords with a medallion and a pair of the same shoes in brown. Would you advice in favor or against a pair of oxblood oxfords (not sure if I want wholecuts or regular plain captoe oxfords). In my mind, those might work perfectly with any suit as soon as I can build up a Patina towards black in some spots like the toe, heel and seams. Any advice is welcome

I wash mine under a faucet with liquid dish soap. A few paper towels wipe it almost dry and remove most of the color. Then I leave it to dry on the edge of the sink.

Probably depends on the lether, and what kind of treetment it had. Is it leather, what kind of leather, calf full grain, horse or some exotic? Some $2k Loui Vitton bags are vinyl 😂😂😂

@@Myrslokstok This is leather, but I'd need to probably find the paperwork to see what kind or try to find one like it for resale. I know it's not exotic. Maybe I can contact them directly and they can tell me. I know what you mean, I have an old Gucci (over 30 years old) that I'd bet is at least vinyl coated. Thanks for your input.

There's no such thing as perfect match. Just get a closest color. However the leather will tend to get slightly darker, use a little lighter color to avoid this!

Saphir has a colour chart (Saphir Nuancier Colour Chart) you can buy to get the perfect shade for your shoes, it's worth it!
