In this video I compare all of the lighting modifiers that I use, as we explaining how you chose which modifier to use in different circumstances and how I decide on how to light a subject.
Going forward I will be doing an in depth lighting workshop and videos on KZbin to help us all understand some of the more niche areas of professional commercial food photography.
If you want to join our community, I have a facebook group / 1893064874281393

Brian, for me, it would be nice if you showed the modifier before the example. There were so many and I kind of forgot what was what...🤪

That tight grid is trippy to see through. I didn't realize how many different modifiers you would be using to shoot food, I figured there was 1-2 go-to's.

You've done a phenomenal job explaining your thought process using really descriptive vocabulary. As an emerging photographer looking to get more into food photography, I can't thank you 🙏enough for taking the time to explain and show how you produce your work. Also thanks for adding in some B-ROLL you had for some of your setups, really helps with visualization. Cheers! 🤗

i thought that large softbox (soft difused light) is enough for all food shot, but watched this makes me realized to be commercial food photographers at certain level that making good money out of it needs more than softbox! (you've opened my eyes & mind!!!) also you mention coffe shoot with large softbox at 13.04 it's nice light but not hard to create (totally agree with you!) you said that certain food needs to using different modifier (totally agree with you!) i trully appriciate your hardwork make all this videos as a free resource, I'm waiting for your next modifier video, may God bless you!

I am literally euphoric after finding your channel, seeing your lighting standards and then checking out your playlists. Instant long-term subscriber and bell! I don't think any channel earned my subscription like this and I've been an efficient youtube consumer for many years. It's exactly what I've been looking for and the tip of the iceberg actually is a 28 min video?! Lol!

OK, i did watch the video...and the pictures...now i am hungry. This channel is very underrated. You might not have a clinical style clean designed workingspace/studio with very expensive high end stuff, like some youtubers have, but its the result that counts...and you are successful.

They’re a great! The studio I used to work for went under and I bought 2 Bowen’s lights from them and I’ve had them for 4 years now and the studio probably had them for a while too and they’re still great. Buying second hand decent lights I’ve been using for years just made more sense than buying a new speed light or something more affordable...(for someone who was just made redundant) 😂

Another amazingly dense video full to the brim with knowledge. Really helping me to decide what I need as I get started and what will be on the horizon as I improve and learn to handle more complex ideas. What would be really useful for me would be a method for coming up with these shot concepts- treacle as paint- a burger smashing through a paper wall.....I don’t know where you get it from buddy but it looks amazing! 👌👌

While I truly enjoy your work, and your videos Scott, at 28:30 (the flat shot with the plums), that glass in the bottom left is rather distracting (to me). Perhaps a worn, dark metallic bowl or a dark wooden dish would have worked better. Great lighting, nonetheless. Am I being too critical?
