My personal preference hard bodies work better for bass in creeks and rivers and soft plastics work better for bream but starlo thank you for showing us another great video

Great video Steve. The tactics, the underwater shots. Hardbodies are great when there's no weed or snags. You're a legend fishing in these icy conditions.

You could expand on this to show floating (poppers, sub surface and diving) suspending and sinking hard bodies. Just like a good mechanic who knows every tool in his toolbox and how to use it correctly so will a good angler, after all lures are just the tools of the trade. Ripper video as always Steve ! BTW what do you think of the Lefty Kreh leader knot ? I know it isn't a scratch on the FG , Double uni or Albright but someone mentioned to me once that the weakest knot was the loop knot you tie your lure on with, this got me thinking and I wondered if some anglers are wasting their time tying complicated knots like the FG, then undoing all that work by using a weaker loop knot especially when fishing for smaller fish or in open ground like a sandflat . I know that if I go down to the Parra River for a fish and walk, I'm not doing anything too serious and the quick and easy option is appealing!
@StarloGetsReel3 ай бұрын
Yep, good suggestion re the lures! Lefty's loop is good in heavier leader material but I don't use it in light stuff. I either tie tight to the eyelet/ring or, if I need a loop, create a Uni Loop, even though it'll often snug down tight during the fight. But as you say, not a lot of point having a 100% strength connection between braid and leader if you're going to tie the lure on with a 75 or 80% strength loop knot (which is probably about what the best-tied Lefty's loop comes in at)>

It’s horses for courses, but I like hardbodies for jolting strikes

awesome video champion, do you change up your hard bodied lure retrieval for yellow fin bream, or keep it the same,
@StarloGetsReel3 ай бұрын
Cheers! Probably a tad quicker and a little less emphasis on pronounced pauses with the yellowfin bream, but I've caught plenty of yelllowfin on the retrieves I use for black bream, too.

Good stuff stevo but a plastic n jighead would have to cost more these days
@StarloGetsReel3 ай бұрын
Depends on the brand and size I guess, but you’re probably right. Still a lot cheaper than a good hard body, though.
@mbnz01743 ай бұрын
I prefer soft plastics because 1) cheaper, 2) more snag resistant and 3) cast better. If fishing is hard, I can use Gulp and pretty much guarantee a fish.
@truthbetold20123 ай бұрын
I've been fishing my bream/flathead hard bodies for 3 years plus so the price point is much cheaper and I can cast my hard bodies much further and more accurately than softies...
@mickmick-qn8kx3 ай бұрын
Soft plastics can be far more versatile than a HB .......BUT a HB will last longer catch more fish in its life and not fill fish with poly vinyl chloride, i say that as someone who used too make and sell sp even had a Squidgy wriggler rip off mould made in the U.S that sold like hotcakes. I dont make and sell SP anymore because of the damage they do in my mind to the environment Yes you can get sp made from "bio soft plastics" But the HB will still last longer also fun to keep and put on a wall with notes of what it caught. Trying not sound preachy and each to their own ..cheers

@@tonyallen8626 no. I tend to fish both hard and soft lures off the same rods.
@tonyallen86262 ай бұрын
@@StarloGetsReel I found a softer action rod for hard bodies works better for me, I don't seem to pull the hooks as much and I have a lot more luck with a fast action rod when it comes to fishing plastics.
