Theres a special place in heaven for youtubers who time stamp their videos, great content, and its good to see when other soft plastics besides zman get mentioned as sometimes you just want to try new brands for the sake of it, even if zman is my go to

Byron, your channel is by far one of the best fishing channels on KZbin. The info you give is unmatched and has helped my fishing heaps. I don't always catch fish every session but I recently bagged a PB bream on a soft plastic (30cm!) - haha stoked with it. I 100% agree with the "go slow on the creature baits" when you start. I lost 2 cranka very quickly around structure by casting in the wrong areas (need to hone in on that accuracy) and they aren't cheap!! Soft plastics are by far the best to learn on or a slow rolling crank (for up in NSW). Appreciated the callout to Z-Man and sorry to hear about the conflict there (Daiwa is also a terrific brand on so many levels). Keep the outstanding content coming, mate.

What you talk about from 0:50 to around 1:30 is so respectable. I have new reels, old reels, and everything inbetween; I hate seeing the videos of people showing brand new rods saying they are the best ever made and to go buy them ASAP. One of my favourite rod lineups are the Abu Garcia Discovery II's; I have 2 of them and they are absolutely insane to use. Just because they are old doesn't mean they aren't perfect.

I really got into it when a maté introduced me to fresh water. Got me straight into salt water and estuary. The best thing was the response from people saying wow! Great job for a lure 😂 Making the surface explode with top water lures with other fisherman around is great. Pike are awesome practice for top water. They seem to like it when the lure is at its most suffering state 😂

@Byron, love the plan for the series. Sounds like you read my mind as my new year's resolution is to be able to catch fish consistently on lures so I can leave the bait at home. The amount of content and gear out there is overwhelming for the beginner. Also, we are all so time poor it's hard to dedicate the hours needed to learn on the job. I think with your instructive style there's an opportunity for you to create the definitive how-to guide for Aussies new to lure fishing.
