Thanks for this great video!! I fish mainly freshwater but am going to St Pete, FL to try some saltwater fishing in the bay off the docks and banks! I think some of my freshwater lures will work as they are similar to the lures you show here on the video. I have one old vintage Penn rod that is for saltwater fishing!! Thanks again for your excellent informative video!!
@Floridafisherman5000 Жыл бұрын
Went to the bay in St Pete this evening and did some saltwater fishing for the first time!! I used some of my freshwater lures and they seemed to get some nibbles on them besides some of my saltwater lures!! I also used real chicken hearts (as I use to catch Catfish in freshwater) and the fish in the bay seemed to like them as well. Didn't hook any fish but had alot of nice nibbles on some of my lures and chicken heart. LOL A first time learning experience....just to get my feet wet. Will go back and try again but this time during the week. Saturdays are way to busy....everyone was fishing on the piers!!! :)

Thanks for watching. I was going to at the weedless and sprite Johnson Spoons and left them out because I don't fish with them often enough to give too many tips. I've caught some Redfish on the weedless spoon. I hear they are great for Redfish. I also see people using the silver spoons for Spanish Mackerel when they are running. I have several of the silver spoons, but just don't fish them much. Thanks for commenting.

@@RadReelingFishing ohh I always watch!!! We're in the same area so I can apply everything you say to my own fishing. And I agree with this entire video👍. Hey also JC try the redfish magic it's called. Basically a spinner bait for red fish. I crushed one a few days ago on it. Super cheap at walmart too. Like $3 I think. Thanks for all you do buddy. We appreciate ya.

Does any of this transfer to Hawaii? We have totally different fish here. I don’t know where to go to learn these things.
@RadReelingFishing2 жыл бұрын
Sure, a fish is a fish and there are some BIG fish in Hawaii! If I were you I'd check with the local tackle shop to see what's biting and what lure are best. This video explains your options pretty good though.

This might be a really stupid question, but do you add a sinker on lure setups?

Why do they make the fluke / shad jerkbait with the flat tail instead of up/ down like a real fish...I always thought that was just stupid for some reason, and why hasn't it been changed yet? anyone else think the same thing?

I live in the northeast on the long island sound. What fish that he talks about in the south relates to a fish in the north like bluefish or striped bass?

We catch Bluefish here on any of these lures. Snook are similar to your Stripped Bass from what I've heard. These lures work anywhere in saltwater.

I think lure presentation is always something that has to be discovered while fishing. Some days the fish will be interested when a lure is moving slow other days when it's being worked with a jerk motion. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@RadReelingFishing8 ай бұрын
Not something I target or catch often.

Its not a surprize that soft plastics are the best for saltwater. I caught snook, jack, flounder, and lady fish. I have yet to catch the other fish as well. Crankbaits are good too but the plastics are the best in my opinion. The crankbaits have a tendency to get snagged. I fish the halifax river alot and there are many saltwater fish in the halifax
