#12DaysofGiftmas #12daysofchristmas #modpodge #coaster
Hi all - today is the last Christmas woodworking gift idea (day 12 of my 12 Days of Giftmas projects). And it's how to transfer photo prints from a laser printer to Sapele wood to make handmade coasters.
Instead of printing photos, I actually photocopied my own linocut prints in my local library for 20p a sheet. Then transferred straight onto some coaster blanks that I cut up and sanded. This is probably the easiest and cheapest way to do your own custom coaster printing!

Thanks :) Yes, the white does have a charm as it's definitely bolder... perhaps it would be better with cheaper wood, maybe like MDF :)

I've seen quite a few videos using this method, and they put the adhesive on the wood, not the paper. They also used a slightly damp sponge first before rubbing. You can use ink jet images but it's a slightly different method. Nitsa Creative Studio does some great videos on these different methods. I've thoroughly enjoyed the 12 days of giftmas.

Now that is cool! Definitely sparking off ideas for stuff that I had thought I would need a router for! Even Cooler that you can do (most of it) on your boat! However, one from left field, if I may? What have you been doing with your stove? Admittedly mine is a little larger and is in a house (big chimney might make a difference), but mine does not spit ash out like yours has done. You haven't been running it with the flue damped down have you? ;o)

It's almost like magic, isn't it? 😂 I'm going to be honest... I haven't got much of a clue about the fire.... my husband just gets on with it. It doesn't spit out ash... we're just messy while clearing it out 😂

@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK Once you understand how they work it is easy. But many don't know and it can affect your whole experience if it is set up wrong! Still if hubby keeps the fire going it is another reason to keep him handy! ;o)

I've found that the glossy side of mailing label paper works a lot better, and you can just peel it off afterwards. The only problem would be using a public printer, they might now want you to put non standard paper in there. Check out Crafsman - Steady Craftin's videos, they're super helpful
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK

Thanks so much! I'm guessing that has something to do with how smooth and untextured it is? I loved this technique so much, i think a laser printer is the way forward to do it more often instead of inkjet!
