You can easily move your catalog to LANDR 🤷🏻‍♂️ And than delete it from Distrokid. But they can't remove or free your music for 1 year after release.

They will only leave your stuff up if you pay the one-time legacy fee. that fee is the only one that isn't recurring. So technically you don't *have* to pay forever for them to keep it up. But you DO have to pay something. which is already more than LANDR as they do this for you for free.

You will earn income from your streaming revenue on LANDR. So you're channel will remain unmonetized but because you can choose to release the song to an artist topic channel on KZbin, LANDR will accrue this money for you in your LANDR account. Your money will come in there, not through KZbin. So you can earn, it'll just be on LANDR.

Great video! Curious if you know anything about this: I'm planning to migrate my releases from Distrokid to LANDR. I have one release, a joint single with another artist, with over half a million streams, he also uses Distrokid. Do you know if migrating that single might screw with things on the other artist's end? The single was "distributed" from my account, so when I inevitably deactivate my Distrokid account, I'm worried it'll pull the song down on his artist profile or screw with his royalties. Appreciate any advice!

your play count and stats won't be effected but I am not sure about how the royalties work. I know you can royalty share on LANDR but I'm unsure if you'd need to just re-establish who's getting the share of what on their end. As far as it pulling the song down on his profile, it won't pull the song from streaming platforms. That all stays the same so long as you make sure you do the transfer first and then delete on Distrokid's end. You may want to reach out to LANDR or have a look on their website for more clarification on this.

I saw Distrokid's business model from a mile away. As a test, I released just 1 song on DK, and didn't add the "legacy" option, but laid for other add-ons (plus base pay) for at least 2 years. As my add-on to testing of DK's service, I recently left a legacy. Thus?, I'm not paying Distro this year; and I'll see if they're going to pull the track or not. Either way I'll place it on Landr myself and cancel DK alrogether. Sucks that people have to oay DK forever if they want their music to live on DSP's. Luckily I didn't drop an album with them, considering all the extra charges per add-on.

Ditto has it's own set of features that may be useful to you. They have music publishing and sync licensing. Ditto also will not keep your music up if you cancel your subscription. It says on their site that while the takedown is not immediate because of the volume of music they process everyday, it will still happen at some point in the future.

Do not cancel before you switch your stuff. If you cancel before distrokid can take ur stuff down at that point before you’re even able to transfer them. So transfer first, then cancel. You won’t lose any stats in the songs.

You don’t have to buy anything if you are subscribed to distribution. What you’re probably seeing is the HD options. Which yes, you’d have to pay extra for HD wav or mp3 Otherwise you can just use regular wav or mp3. LANDR Studio Pro subscription is what includes unlimited HD Wav. You only purchased the distribution pro subscription.

Great video, you've got a new subscriber here. I have a few questions/observations. The $44.99/year fee is "50% off" right now. It's normally $89.99, so that's gonna add to the overall cost. All of my releases are on Shazam, I've never paid anything extra for that. Also, does Landr offer as many extras as Distrokid? Like the being able to submit your tracks to Spotify playlists before you release them? Other things like Playlist spotlight, Wheel of Playlist, promo cards, mini videos and so on? I'm genuinely asking, not trying to be negative.

If you subscribe at $44.99 I was I told the price would remain $44.99 so no. It wouldn’t add to the overall cost but you can ask their support just to be sure. Yes. LANDR releases to Shazam for free. I’ve always had to pay extra to deliver to Shazam with distrokid. Not sure what special deal you got. Yes, LANDR has playlists you can submit to. No mini videos but you can do this directly through Spotify if you’re talking about what I think you are. Wheel of playlist idk what that is. Promo cards not necessarily but they have a promo artist page for you to link people to your albums / songs and the platforms that album or song is on. Even if the price was 89.99, it would still work out to be cheaper over 5 years with LANDR.

I’ve also used CD Baby, Ditto Music I believe and Tunecore. All three have similar features like publishing options and sync licensing pitching. Different price points. Tunecore & Ditto are subscription based. CD Baby is pay per release. My thoughts are that LANDR is still the choice for me. I can’t speak for anyone else. I just like everything they offer, including all of the musical plugins and instruments for production. None of the others offer such things. If you want to pay per release, use CD Baby or even I think Tunecore has an option for that too. If you want subscription, any of these will do. Just depends on how much you’re willing to pay, what additional features you want, and whether or not you care that they’ll take ur music down if you cancel.

Does studio essentials do that for you If #2 answer is yes after answering #1, then yes. It’s worth it.
