Loved this one (even though you kept picking against my Duke guys). Podcast idea: most underrated players for the season so far. Or to put it in another much more wordy way, "Players whose excellent performance is flying under the radar this season." I'll let you workshop the title.

I also won't be offended if you don't do it at all, lol. Just throwing an idea out in case you ever run short on content.

spoiler alert: we have a "which players have improved the most" pod coming down the pipeline! that jibes with this, sort of, I think.
Man, the Mobley-Holmgren one made me question my own judgment. For me, it's Holmgren in a landslide. Like, this was one of the easiest ones for me. Chet's floor-spacing, ability to attack off the dribble, and greater length are just so much more valuable to me. And you say, you don't have to trade for a guy to insulate Mobley, but that doesn't make sense to me. He's always played beside Allen, so we don't know what Mobley at the 5 for 100% of his minutes looks like (even if there is more staggering going on now). We know what Chet at the 5 looks like, and it's freaking fantastic. It's not like the Thunder HAD to sign Hartenstein. They did it because they had the means to do so. To me, the only argument in favor of Mobley is health. And even then, I just default to the better player (which is Chet by a lot, imo).

i think if Holmgren had not missed more games than he's played in so far, I would be in your camp. and I know it's not chronic stuff with him, but it's top-of-mind for me.

Scottie Barnes last 67 games dating to last season- 34.6mpg… 19.9ppg 8.3reb 6.1ast 1.3stl 1.3blk 2.7TO 1.7threes 46.8/32.9/77.3 splits and -190 JDub last 67 games- 31.2mpg… 20.5ppg 4.6reb 4.9ast 1.5stl .8blk 1.9TO 1.8threes 54.5/43.4/78.4 splits and +411 So far this years numbers are farther apart especially advanced stats. I’m a big Scottie fan but JDub has a top 50 player All-Time (or higher?) type of ceiling you won’t find players as efficient as him who also can playmake and are elite on defense. He’s a Jimmy Butler or maybe Kawhi type of talent not sure i can see that level from Barnes

Personally, I'd take Wemby over Jokic for the simple fact that Wemby is already closer to Jokic offensively than Jokic will ever be to Wemby defensively. I just value playing both sides of the ball and Wemby is one of the best defenders in the game today. Plus the fact that he's most likely going to keep making leaps in his offense whereas Jokic isn't. Jokic is the safe bet. But I'm swinging for the fences, baby!

It's hilariously ironic that people hold shooting 3s against Tatum as an offensive feature yet every team lost to Celtics because of their 3s and defense.

No excuses for okc if Shai is better than Tatum

What kind of take is this? 1 guy doesn't win a championship alone. Tatum surely didn't win the championship for Boston last year. The stacked team did that. SGA was better than Tatum last year in the regular season and playoffs. This year, they are doing similarly. Tatum and SGA are both top 5 guys in the league and hard to argue against someone liking 1 more than the other.

@ sga has never done anything in the playoffs in his life don’t compare him to Tatum

@Peacehardly He was better than Tatum in last years playoffs. That was only his 3rd time in the playoffs, and the other 2, he was young.

Chet is JJJ with a better 3 ball, rebounding, and blocking. JJJ is a better 1 on 1 defender. OKC does not hope Chet becomes JJJ.

@@bkelly625 still not entirely certain about his offense being at the level necessary to be more valuable than ant in a playoff series but we obviously agree with you overall

Guys, I think this kind of thing works way better in shorter doses. If the listener disagrees with both of your judgments a few in a row, it starts to get frustrating to listen to. It would be nice to break it up. For instance, Chet vs Paolo. ASIDE FROM INJURIES, I'd probably take Chet. I am an OKC fan, but I think the battle without the injuries works out like this. Chet: Keep in mind, this is with most sample at 5. Shooting: +++ Creation: + Rim Finish/Pressure: +++ Playmaking: + Rim defense: ++++(ridiculous) Perimeter D: ++ Rebounding: + Paolo: (Him vs other 4's and smallball 5's) Shooting:+ Creation: +++ Rim Finish/Pressure: ++ Playmaking: +++ Rim Defense: + Perimeter D: + Rebounding: ++ + Can do well. Functions in a good team scheme ++ Real positive skill +++ all star, all-nba strength. ++++ (dpoy, mvp strength) I rate them with a similar amount of skill strengths. For me its to difficult shot creation and make, plus playmaking for others and foul drawing vs easy shot creation/making, space for others, flexible/connective playmaking and elite defense. And I value the easy shots having seen KD sleepwalk his way to 20 every night through similar easy shots when I and he were younger here. Its close though. Others I disagreed with as well. This one just stuck out. Maybe breaking it into 2 or 3 segments with some other topics would help keep the flow moving easier.
