I heard the Jazz were 14-21 with Edey on the floor the other night. I remain skeptical that a player of his type can start on a good team in the modern NBA. Maybe having JJJ back will require him to guard less in space, idk. But this was against a Jazz team that also played a non-stretch center heavy minutes (Kessler). What happens when he goes up against an actual 5-out team?

I don’t think these guys watch him every day.. this is a conversation about “why is there this media narrative” and they go on to repeat a lot of the narrative. “Master of none”…? Are there two top scoring wings that are better passers than Jayson Tatum???

On the OKC Thunder radio broadcast at the start of every game, they play a short into for each player in the starting five. Each player does the voiceover and says their name, number, and position (i.e. "Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Number 2, point guard," "Jalen Williams, Numer 8, forward," etc.). Chet's intro. is, "Chet Holmgren, Number 7, Basketball Player!"

His jumper was broken and there’s some awful clutch stats associated with Tatum. It’s not rocket science. He’s a top 10 player, inarguably. But he’s not top 5. His TS% was under 50% in that warriors final and had he even been average they win. I think Brown asserting himself in game 3 last year is not only a change from previous years but also the reason they won. Previously he would have deferred to Tatum even if Tatum choked away the series.

Great show, gentlemen. First round pick Knect (spelling?) Lakers, but I think the biggest "x" factor might be coach Reddick? Have watched two games, and the team is actually moving without the ball. It didn't happen last year at all with D Ham. The team is still vulnerable at the center when AD is out, so maybe Vanderbilt or Rui can come in and fit today's show criteria, or AD will break down as year evolves and that will not be positive? The big news here is the walkoff grandslam homerun in Dodgers game with two out in bottom 10th inning against a great Yankees baseball club. Wow, tickets are now $10k, only utube sensations can afford that😅😂😂. Last night, Downtown LA, Lakers beat Suns, USC vs Purdue football and Dodgers vs Yankees World Series all a couple blocks apart. MVP was traffic cop trying to keep cars moving around events.
@rome8180
@rome8180 16 минут бұрын
I agree on Redick being the X-factor, even if he doesn't fit the parameters of this exercise. There was a play that they ran at the beginning of the Suns game that involved like 5 passes and ended up with AD hitting Reaves cutting baseline for an easy layup. Haven't seen anything like that out of the Lakers in a while. Knecht makes sense though. The team is trying to get up more threes, and that requires guys who can actually hit them. I could also see going with Jaxson Hayes because the center depth questions you mentioned. I though he looked good in the first two games, especially game one. Some of that time was with AD, but some of it was as the lone big.

Come on he led the team in scoring assists and rebounds all of whom won the MVP I love Jaylen Brown but stop hating on Tatum to give Brown some prop they play a different style teams defense is to slow down Tatum and that benefits the whole team including Brown it is a team game and I am glad they are mature enough to have figure it out keep playing team ball

During PreSeason 2023, Chet was asked "Who is the best player in NBA?' He said "Me, after 20 games". Then said he expects to be 50/40/90. Which he was doing for first 25games. He obviously got tired at end of last yr. Before Valentines Day he had 15games of 4+ blks. After that in last 28games he had 0 games of 4+ blks. Now w/ occasional rest days, IHart & a yr of gaining strength, experience & an off-season of working on his game, his upside is through the roof.

They need a cornerstone player the way that the Spurs did before getting Wemby, and they need a new coach. The lack of effort in that pathetic blowout season opener yesterday was in large part on the coach. You don’t want to be a total hard case but he is way too soft. The guys just going through the motions would be benched by any decent coach

He is at the top with all of those guys. People don't take into account that he has to share touches with another player more than any of those other guys by far. If he dominated the ball the way Jokic or Giannis or any of the "top" guys, he would have better numbers than all of those guys, imo. He shot badly in the playoffs, that's the only legitimate criticism and there was a reason why. He's always shot well but because he has one playoff run where he shot worse than he ever has from 3, now he's erratic or can't shoot. I don't get it. Every player in the league is "erratic" from 3 because everyone has nights where they don't shoot well. I would take Tatum over every single player in the league except maybe Jokic. And even then I would have to debate that idea because Tatum's a better 3 point shooter and is more athletic and a better defender than Jokic.

Okay, thats overreaction now. Jokic as well as Luka are clearly ahead of him and I am saying this as a Celtic fan. That being said, I wouldnt give up Tatum for Luka, Jokic YES but not Luka.
@miked5814
@miked5814 7 сағат бұрын
@@Ahsannn why though? What can Jokic do that Tatum can't do? And remember Tatum is a much better defender. Jokic a better passer. Tatum's a better shooter, imo. I think they're about equal as far as rebounding for their positions. Why is it so obvious? I don't see it. I would have to think about it for a while and to be honest, I might take Tatum for everything he can do.
@miked5814
@miked5814 7 сағат бұрын
@@Ahsannn and Luka is not ahead of him. In what way? Remembering that Luka dominates the ball and Tatum has to share touches with Brown much more than Luka does. As someone who has played and coached for almost 30 years, Tatum is clearly in that category. He just is. Look up what he's done at the age of 26. Look up all the franchise and NBA records he's broken. And Luka and Jokic are pretty much the same every year. Tatum improves on something every single year. He's always getting better.

Great show as always. Many fans see great players as those who make flashy plays or score big points. It's all well and good if you score 25 points every game like T Young, but on defense, he gives up more. Great players show up in playoffs and dominate on both ends imo.

@@HardwoodKnocksNBABro…nobody bashes Tatum’s averages. The problem is he’s a choke artist. Period. Clutch stats back that up (look it up, dead last in shot qualified players last year), and prior to Brown asserting himself late in games the Celtics always wilted when the games got tight. THATS why Tatum doesn’t get his respect. Big players make big shots in big moments and Tatum to this point cannot be counted on to win close games. He’s top 10. Not top 5. Nothing wrong with riding Tatum through 3 and then letting Brown close games. It’s a team sport, but for the love of god put some respect on Browns name too because Game 3 last year won you the title and that was Jaylen.
