I will remain using Liqui Moly simply because of how passionate they are of their products. He feeds you knowledge, not “buy my shit” bull shit. Especially when the question of what oil weight to use after doubling the power. He hit it on the nail when mentioning, at that point, you are modifying what engineers developed around 0w-20/30, So it’s trial and error from there! Liqui Moly best stuff around in my opinion!

I've seen engines from inside that ran oil for 20-25k km as BMW requested. Completely clogged up in grease. All mechanics I know say the same about oil - BMW's extended intervals are the main reason for the engine problems. They only care for the warranty period.

I was lucky enough to find a shop 5 minutes away that carries a full line of Liqui Moly Oils, Additives, and a selection of Mann/Mahle OE Oil Filter Kits. 45 minutes in and out. No more $400 oil changes from the BMW Dealership. I have a BMW F30 335i N55 that used 5w30 and a E90 M3 S65 that uses 10w60...so double the Liqui Moly Goodness. The most important ideas from this video is to stick with the stock BMW recommended oil weight, but adjust the oil change interval based on track use, climate, and mods. Keep a log of oil and other fluid changes in your cell phone. Also keep the oil grade, volume in liters/qtz, and oil filter part number. Also buy a supply of oil drain plugs...change every 4-5 oil changes. After a major engine mod like big turbos, Stage 2-3 Tune, or switching to E85/E90, get a Blackstone Oil Analysis at 2500 and 5000 miles. The more unburnt fuel in the oil, the more often you have to change the oil. Some engines have oil filter housing gasket failures, so you will see coolant in your oil. For my S65 brothers, rod bearings wear will put lead and copper fragments in your oil. Of course this means El Presidente, Bryan would need to change his oil every 1000-2000 miles on his BMW F30 N55.

Thanks Bryan This are the videos we want, cause there is not much straight forward info in the internet about this , everyone is telling something from their own experience but this is straight from the people who know what they are doing , and this will educate car owners so that cars get treated as they should and the next owner won’t buy a car that has problems with it.

The BMW LongLife-01 (LL-01) oil spec is covered by Liqui Moly Special Tec LL 5w30 and Leichtlauf High Tech 5w-40. But SpecialTec LL 5w30 is typically not in stock, so I use the heavier Leichtlauf High Tech 5w-40. Super hot in SoCal in the summer @ 100-115deg F. On Liqui Moly Oil Additives, CeraTec is very nice, but the color is like a Cafe Latte (brown). So it will turn your oil brown and freak out your Tech. Not sure if you should use it only for the last few hundred miles before an oil change, all the time, or every 2-3 oil changes. Might be better to just use it for a few track days in a row, and then change your oil. The Jectron Fuel Injector Cleaner is like Chevron Tectron. Add it at one quarter to half a tank to keep the engine happy. It is twice or 4x as concentrated if you add it to half to a quarter of a tank of gas. Use it every 1000-2000 miles. No need to over do it unless you car idle is rough.

I have been trying many different oils in the last 2 years on a 2017 BMW X5 xDrive35i. -Castrol Edge Euro 0w40 -Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40 -Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0w30 -Motul Specific BMW LL01FE 5w30 I found slightly more oil consumption on Castrol Edge 0w40. I found no oil consumption on Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40, but affected my mpg negatively. Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0w30 had no oil consumption and also noticed a slightly better mpg. I also use Liqui Moly Ceratec and also MOS2 additives. Use Ceratec every 30k mi, use MoS2 every oil change. Use Techron every 3-4k mi. Many times I used Redline fuel system cleaner since Techron is difficult to find here.

I use 5w40 Amsoil on my X5 50D 2016. On the highway it is extremely silent and smooth! Cold start is ok but idle a bit loud(maybe fuel?) ? In city is jerky my car! Is it because of oil or because is 6 cylinder? 0w30 or 5w30 will make a difference or my issue is not related to oil?? Thanks in advance
@TML349 ай бұрын
5w-40 is not “thicker” than 5w-30. The low number is the same, meaning the two oils protect the same at colder temps. The 40 just means that it will maintain a higher viscosity at higher temps, which is desirable for a track/tuned car.

It's not 30k miles in Europe, it's 30k Kilometers service / 24 months. That, of course, in countries where you have highways, you don't stay in bumper to bumper traffic 3 hours a day, and there is no dust on the roads. Once you go to Eastern Europe, where we do have dust on the roads, we have a nightmare traffic, you need to change the oil every 10k kilometers or even sooner for fuel high performance cars.

From Enclosure 2 to SI 11 07 96 (138), edition 02/2019 of G20 BMW manual When using engine oils as per Enclosure 3 the following rules apply to selecting the suitable viscosity class: BMW Longlife oils as specified for all BMW models as from 1998 are tested by BMW to ensure that they can be used worldwide all-year round at any ambient temperatures. It is therefore not necessary to pay attention to the viscosity class of BMW longlife oils. Exception M47TÜ2; a lower temperature limit of -20°C applies to SAE 5W-X oils; cold starting may be adversely affected if the temperature falls below that limit. In countries where the ambient temperatures frequently drop below -20 °C, we thus recommend the use of 0W instead of 5W products. The viscosity classes SAE 0W-20 and SAE 5W-20 are not suitable for diesel engines. Viscosity classes with a high viscosity can increase fuel consumption.

in an earlier video he mentioned that BMW's would take up to 40 weight oil do to tolerance nothing more than that. Anything thicker you are asking for problems. Also if you use Molygen you do NOT need any other additives as those additive will contaminate and decrease the oil's formula as Molygen has already a perfect additive formulation and doesn't need anything else! For any other Liqui Moly oils you can add those additives that he mentioned/showed in the video.

If you live in the area with climate changes such as nyc and where temps drops to 10-15 f during winter 0-30 is the good pick both protection wise and fuel economy. However, if you r in Florida your best bet is 5w30. 0w20 is way too thin. I remember Subarus engines were requiring 0w20 oil on their wrx and sti models and were constantly having issues on boosted cars. While 0w20 has superb flow rate literally like mentioned in this video it's identical to ice tea and superb fuel economy this oil leaving a lot of concerns protection wise. While 0-30 is not significantly thicker than 0-20 it does provide peace of mind. And if this doesn't make sense to you look at m performance bmw vehicles with b58 335-350hp stock the dealer uses 0-30w cuz they are well familiar that most of the consumers will want push the vehicles to it's full potential. Long story short before you hit 50 k miles it does not matter whether you use 0-20 or 0-30 it just comes to a personal preference mpg vs safety. Mpgs and start stop is all about marketing - you are like if you I'll get 1 mpg out of 0w20 so there is rly no point of using 0-20 in my opinion besides if you own bmw and driving it from point A to point B w/o any significant accelerations. If you want to save $ on gas thinner oil would barely help on b58 word of advice get a hybrid or electric.

Hi Bryan and Steffen! Thanks for the video, learned quite a bit, much appreciated! That's also why BMW states that the ZF gearboxes run with lifetime oil - no service = lower service costs. Also shorter lifetime, but why should BMW care - the warranty is long gone 🤦♂

just to clarify something, do not confuse the "W" with weight, the letter "W" is for winter, it has nothing to do with how "heavy" or "light" the oil is. the lower the number the less likely the oil will freeze in really low temperatures
@dougi.22382 жыл бұрын
Source for this please? I believe this is incorrect. The W does in fact stand for "Winter" but is referenced for *multi-grade* oils that work as a thin oil at cold temps and a thicker oil at higher temps (source: SAE J300). SAE viscosities are measured at 40C and 100C. Not at a freezing temp. While the freeze point may be a consideration, the cold pour point is a more common metric during testing. This is not a "freeze" point, however. You can have multiple "5W30" oils all with different cold pour points. The viscosity grade does not denote anything about freezing.

Motul is better. Car burns liqui molly but not motul. 610whp n54. I Change oil every 2k miles. 5w40 running e60 blend. Would never run 10k miles on en oil especially turbo. Oil is cheap change it as often as possible.
