Hi. Today is 7/26/24. I just received the Uproot Cleaner Xtra and I have the smaller one you have too. I just put it together and it seems very sturdy. I do agree the smaller one works really well but I am 81 and not sure in want to be crawling around on my knees. But I know the smaller one works like a charm. I was even thinking about trying to put a handle on the small one. I am a "MacGyver" of sorts and can figure things out. I do give the smaller one 5 stars. I will get back to you as soon as I get out of my chair and try this new one out.😊

Hello Linda! I truly understand. I honestly don't enjoy being on my knees either cause I do have back problems afterward. I'm finicky because in the back of my mind, I feel that there is still more hair to be picked up, but I need to be ok with doing with what I can do for that moment. So please use the Xtra, I'm still trying to figure out a method that works just as fast as the pro or max. God bless my dear😊

Hi, It’s me again. I agree with you about the smaller one being so much easier to pick pick up fur. I found that the different directions the living room carpet has been installed the the ulta x one worked better on the side my rug the label. I would literally die for a wider one made exactly like the smaller one we both have. In fact they wouldn't even need to make as this ultra x one is because they only need on strip across it. Then we wouldn't need to have to keep turning it over because the smaller one cleans every bit of my carpet. And believe me when I say I have a 1year 7 month old Mini Aussie who has a thick double coat and way more fluff than what you got off your pretty rug. But I will say that I would love a bigger one made exactly like the small one. That might be able to fit on the handle of the ultra X. Then i would be a happy camper.

There is an uproot max that I purchased, which is wider than the little guy, so I will be trying that and see how well it does. Because yes it will save up on time as well, and that's what I was hoping the Xtra was going to do. But I hope the Xtra is helping you not be on your knees or harming your back. I've found the extra's finer side to work well on upholstery where you might have snags, or destroy the fabric. Outside of that, I'll roll with my handheld.

With the handhelds you get better leverage, but the downside is being on your knees. The Max does just as well as the pro, both sides are optimal. I would love to try the 7-1 grooming kit, but i don't have $200 laying around lol

I should get the max cause it covers more area that way. I'm not to sure about the groom kit my self either cause I would have to train my cat not to run away from the sound of a vacuum. She hisses at the Bissell pet vacuum every time I use it. 😅

Supposedly the grooming kit is very quiet compared to a vacuum and your pets will not be afraid of it. That's what the ads say at least lol.

Man I wish the xtra was just a longer version of the smaller one, having two edges closer together seems better- like the “closer shave” of having more blades close together on a razor

Based on their videos you may have a point. According to the site, one side is for medium hair (angled at 45 degrees) fabrics, the other is for tough haired (angled at 10 degrees). The side I focused on in the video, which may have been the medium, works but it still doesn't deep clean like the original uproot. I feel because the metal combs are too far apart in the xtra it will only focus on cleaning the surface of the rug. I love the original for its deep cleaning capabilities.

I have to wonder if they designed the Xtra so the two sides were slightly different for different types of material. I'm thinking about buying one of these. I'm getting ready to move into a newer house with some family. The lady selling the house has a dog & cat, and I am moving in with 2 cats, and my kids have dogs and cats, like at least 5 each. I don't see how we can live without a product that does this. I think from your review if it's done thoroughly when we move in, and then regular vacuuming and this will keep it in check. They have a kit that has both of these pieces along with the small clothing scraper and a pet deshedder. Sounds like the kids will have a lot of outside grooming to do. LOL.

I wish it was for different material. I still don't recommend knitted or woven material, the harsh metal grated texture will eat that thing up. Its why I recommend Molly Paw's silicone version of the uproot. Because of its soft material, its a lot kinder to linen and knitted material. I think the reason that it has two different angles is probably stairs vs rugs. The angles side picked up the hairs but I couldn't see what the other end was doing unless it picks up hair and lint on a deeper level. Let me know should you choose to purchase this. I personally find it more time consuming than going down on my knees and using the Uproot pro tool. Because of this conversation, I may actually do a race having my brother help me out. But I have to wait cause my rug as not been as fury as before in a while. I may look into the grooming kit too cause I wanna see if its not as loud as they say it is. Honestly, that's the reason why I got the Xtra was for my aching back. But when I use it, my shoulders are killing me (maybe cause I don't use those muscles I don't know lol) But it wasn't working for me, but if that Grooming vacuum kit, (which also has a deshedder ) isn't noisy I will use that cause it has a part to clean rugs like the pro but I don't know how deep though so I look forward to trying it out.
