Bot mode totally goes to MS. NA again with ugly gaping screw holes, and massive legs... bit unsightly. Agreed MS tripped on the dino mode, no head articulation in this day and age is a mistake.

Great comparison, Deluxe! If MS would fully paint their figures or up their plastic game, I feel like they'd be more of a threat to NA. I personally prefer NA in general, but do get some MS too.

A great comparison. Right now I am really glad that I don't collect Transformers figures of this scale - because I would have a really hard time deciding which one of these to get. Between the dinosaur modes, Newage seems to be a little more accurate to the cartoon model, and that extra articulation with the head is a nice plus. So Newage wins that contest. However, when it comes to the robot mode, Magic Square is definitely the winner. The sculpt is just so clean and way more accurate to the cartoon model than Newage's - and, as you pointed out, Deluxe Baldwin, it also has better articulation. Sure, Newage's figure has paint on it, but I have read that Magic Square has a habit of releasing painted versions of its figures afterwards. So because a painted version of MS's Slag will very likely get released eventually, I don't count paint as an advantage for Newage. Anyway, that's why I really can't decide which one of these would be a better cartoon Slag.

Only Snarl used a sword in the cartoon, but he didn't use a gun, hence the choice of weapons for the Newage Dinobots.

You're right, however they took the time to design all accessories, so why not include them all releases? Leave the thing from that episode to be the accessory they selectively include. That's my wish anyway.

No surprise on this versus, I think MS missed the mark on the dinos. I like MS and usually more prefer them to NA for engineering, but the dinos just don't seem as good as other bots they've released. I own both MS and NA, MS for my toon display and NA for the SG.

My biggest gripe is price for both. As Flossy Carter would say, they're "TGH...Too Gatdang High." I got the Magic Square Optimus 2.0, and that was well worth the 80 bucks spent on it. But each of the Dinobots is around that much, and for what??

Bloodbath? Nah. Look closer. Newage has a lot of gaps and panels that look bad, they just weren't pointed out like the 2 on Magic Square were. People tend to be more forgiving of a company if they already prefer that company.

These reviews and comparison videos are so helpful and I believe I would be lost in collecting legends figures without them so thank you! for legends scale, I originally began collecting magic Square because ordering from their website is so much cheaper than purchasing new age. I have recently purchased a handful of new age Figures which seem to be of better overall quality compared to magic Square (dinobots are a good example). Magic Square also seems to have some dubious business practices such as re-releasing new paints on older models with very poor plastic that fails (hound version 2023 is one of them). Magic square also “doctors“ the reviews of their products on their website…they leave out negative reviews to boost their ratings. I know this from personal experience. it’s great to have competition between these companies, but for me going forward, I will probably stick with new age.

I don't really get the whole MS it looks like it lept off the screen of the G1 arguement when the cartoon had notoriously dumbed down character designs to make it cheap to animate and wasn't even consistent to itself from scene to scene. I'd much rather spend a few extra dollars and get something of much better quality with tighter tolerences, plastic, and paint that still looks like the cartoon without dumbing it down so much. I will eventually get the MS just because I love the dinobots way too much but their Slag will forever stay in bot mode because dino mode is my prefered mode of choice and Newage destroys MS there IMO.
